Ford Establishes Air Curtain Technology On The New F-150

BRIGHTON, Mich. - There has been tons of hype surrounding the all-new 2015 Ford F-150, and it is definitely deserving of all the excitement! After an industry-first engineering breakthrough of using an all-aluminum frame to replace the heavy, fuel-sucking, burdensome steel frame of the past, another engineering breakthrough is the additional implementation of air curtain technology!

Ford establishes Air Curtain Technology on the new F-150! As seen in the graphic above, air curtain technology guides airflow across the front wheels of the truck to reduce wind turbulence which helps make the all-new F-150 THE MOST aerodynamically efficient F-150 EVER! So, how does this all happen? Horizontal slots underneath the headlamps channel air from the front of the truck through ducting to openings in the wheel wells, which direct it across the outer surface of the wheel and tire. You can always count on Ford to continually push the boundaries of daring design while making the new 2015 F-150 more aerodynamically efficient over all the previous models.

With the new F-150, an extensive amount of time was spent running aerodynamic simulations and doing wind tunnel tests which in the end produced a more aerodynamic, efficient F-150 truck– the first of its kind. Ford establishes Air Curtain Technology on the new F-150 which is the result of hard working Ford engineers and designers showing how incremental improvement helped the all-new F-150 earn its position as the most fuel efficient gasoline pickup in the light-duty truck segment!

Have you been feeling the itch to get behind the wheel of America's best selling pickup truck? Well, you're in luck! We have a beautiful inventory of new and used Ford F-150 trucks, so stop by and take one out for a test drive! Ford Introduces An Apollo Inspired, Limited Edition Mustang

Ford Introduces An Apollo Inspired, Limited Edition Mustang

BRIGHTON, Mich. - In celebration of the successful history of the Apollo space missions, Ford introduces an Apollo inspired, limited edition Mustang that will be auctioned off at a charity auction this month! The auction will be to benefit EAA youth aviation education programs, including the Young Eagles, which Ford Motor Co. has raised about $3 million for in recent years.

As far as limited-edition Mustangs go, this one is the King of the galaxy! This will be the eighth straight year that Ford Motor Co. has created a unique, aviation-inspired pony car to benefit the Experimental Aircraft Association youth education programs. The Apollo-inspired Mustang will be donated and sold via auction on July 23rd at the Gathering of the Eagles event at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2015, which is the "World's Greatest Aviation Celebration".

When Ford introduces an Apollo inspired, limited edition Mustang, it sure goes all out! This impressive pony car is modeled after the '15 fastback GT, and the team was led by Ford Design Manager Melvin Betencourt. The exterior is a beautiful one-of-a-kind glossy pure white and pure black non-production paint scheme that truly delivers a creative connection with the NASA space program. The best part of the custom designed exterior, however, HAS to be the unique LED underbody lighting that symbolizes atmospheric re-entry. How cool is that?! (see below for a close-up)

2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Was Tested In The Harshest Conditions

2017 Ford F-150 Is Tested In The Harshest Conditions

BRIGHTON, Mich. - You may have heard a few people in the automotive industry– especially the truck world– talk about the all-new 2017 F-150 Ford Raptor. What is causing so much excitement is the fact that the new truck just recently completed over 1,000 miles of testing in the southwestern part of the United States. The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor was tested in the harshest conditions attainable and this is Ford Motor Company's roughest, smartest, most capable off-road truck ever!

The '17 F-150 Raptor was tested over 1,028 miles of complete desert trail designed to parallel the Baja race course in the Mexican desert, and the 66-mile route featured a wide range of surfaces including fast sandy washes, deep-rutted silt beds, steep climbs in deep sand, and slow meticulous crawls through tight trenches. In some places, the Raptor topped out at speeds just over 100 mph while slowing all the way down to 10mph in some places. The average speed over the course was 50mph and the 2017 F-150 Raptor completed the lap at a rate of 25% faster than the current model.

Impressive right? At the end of each race lap, the Raptor completed a tabletop jump which consisted of a steep ramp up to a two-foot plateau, then a step-off back to level ground. As is the case with ALL Built Ford Tough Trucks, the vehicles were put through EXTREME tests that a normal truck purchased from a dealer lot would never go through in it's practical lifetime usage. Engineers and experts at Ford Motor Company pushed the Raptor harder in a test that lasted a few days than it will be pushed over its lifetime.

The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor was tested in the harshest conditions attainable, therefore, it is the PERFECT truck for your off-roading needs! The all-new 2015 F-150 Raptor hasn't made its way to dealers yet, but as soon as they arrive we'll let you know about it! Until then, feel free to stop by your Howell Area Ford Dealership and check out any of our current 2015 F-150 models and take them out for a test drive.

Drowsy Driving Is Just As Dangerous As Drunk Driving

Drowsy Driving Is Just As Dangerous As Drunk Driving

BRIGHTON, Mich. - As a driver, we are al well versed in the dangers of drunk driving, distracted driving, aggressive driving and road rage... but what about drowsy driving? Did you know that drowsy driving is JUST as dangerous as drunk driving? A tired or fatigued driver is a dangerous driver according to multiple studies, including a recent NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) study that concluded there was up to 100,000 cases of drowsy driving incidents or crashes every year. Of those 100,00, there are an average 1,500 deaths and 70,000 injuries.

Contrary to popular belief, less than 1% of these fatigue related crashes or incidents are caused by semi-truck drivers due to a recent federal law that truckers can only drive for 10 hours in a 24 hour period. Did you also know that in a recent study nine out of ten North American police officers had pulled someone over they thought was drunk driving, but were actually just tired? Both drunk driving and drowsy driving have similar tell-tale signs. These include slower reaction times, decreased awareness, impaired judgement and increased aggressiveness.

So, how do you fight drowsy driving? It's easy, first you have to recognize it. Here are some tell-tale signs that you might need to pull over and take a quick cat nap!

  • You cannot remember the last few miles driven.
  • You hit a rumble strip or drift from your lane.
  • You keep pulling your vehicle back into your lane.
  • Your thoughts are wandering and disconnected.
  • You yawn repeatedly.
  • You have difficulty keeping your head up and remaining focused.
  • You tailgate.
  • You miss traffic signs.
  • You have barely avoided being in an accident.
Now of course we all yawn, and have been know to tailgate however if you're doing five of the listed things at the same time...it may be time to get off at the next exit and dose.

At Brighton Ford, we want you to be the safe you can be while driving on the road, and that means recognizing that drowsy driving is just as dangerous as drunk driving. Thankfully, Ford Motor Company has come up with a few amazing technological safety features that help fight the fatigue! If you would like to learn more about these features, feel free to stop by your Howell Area Ford Dealership

The Exciting 2016 F-150 Continues To Dominate The Truck Industry

The Exciting 2016 F-150 Continues To Dominate The Truck Industry

BRIGHTON, Mich. - You may have been hearing A LOT about the all-new F-150 from Ford and for a good reason because the exciting 2016 F-150 continues to dominate the truck industry! With a Pro Trailer Backup Assist making backing up a trailer as easy as turning a knob, more and more people are realizing the affordability and dependability that a Ford F-150 can provide. With a new Special Edition Appearance package available on the XLT and Lariat, Ford is continuing to make tons of different options available on America's favorite pickup truck.

Other changes for the 2016 F-150 include SYNC 3 integration, which replaces SYNC with MyFordTouch, Shadow Black replacing Tuxedo Black, Lithium Gray replacing Guard Metallic and 20-inch machined aluminum wheels with painted silver pockets available on the XL.

The All-Pro Back Trailer, however, is what makes this new 2016 model! There is a reason the exciting 2016 F-150 continues to dominate the truck industry. The segment-first technology feature allows customers and drivers of all skill levels to steer a trailer instinctively by turning a knob left or right to indicate direction; the truck controls its steering and limits vehicle speed.  Also, responding to past customer requests, the 2016 Ford F-150 with the 5.0-liter V-8 engine will offer a gaseous-fuel prep option, making it the only light-duty pickup capable of running on compressed natural gas or propane.

We will definitely keep you updated as to when the 2016 F-150 will roll into Brighton Ford, hopefully very soon! Until then, feel free to stop by and visit your Milford Area Ford Dealership today! Brighton Ford is located at 8240 Grand River Ave. just north of I-96 in Brighton. We are a family owned and operated business that strives for customer satisfaction. For more information on Brighton Ford visit BrightonFord.com or give us a call at (800) 836-8206.

Millennials Fear Other Motorists Driving Dangerously More Than Anything Else

Millennials Fear Other Motorists Driving Dangerously More Than Anything Else

BRIGHTON, Mich. - Many believe that the most common fear among human beings is the fear of public speaking, death or spiders, but when it comes to Millennials, you're wrong: Millennials fear other motorists driving dangerously more than anything else! A new survey released by Ford Motor Co. says that Millennials and Generation Z consumers' top driving fears include backing out onto busy streets, maneuvering into tight parking spaces and monitoring blind spots.

For decades, public speaking has held the top fear spot, as well as spiders. However, younger generations are growing up with completely different fears than their parents or grandparents. Today, younger drivers are more worried about distracted drivers. See the list below:

Top fears for Millennials and Generation Z:

  1. Other motorists driving dangerously (88%)
  2. Public speaking (75%)
  3. Death (74%)
  4. Spiders (69%)
  5. Snakes (69%)

The most worrisome driving conditions for Millennials and Generation Z survey respondents include snowy or icy roads, maneuvering into a tight parking spot, backing out onto a busy street, monitoring blind spots and not knowing where they are going. Millennials fear other motorists driving dangerously more than anything else, and that is why Ford Motor Co. offers technologies that will assist drivers in operating their vehicles as safely as possible. Research shows that 65 percent of respondents are more likely to purchase a vehicle if it has the technology to help with parallel parking.

With technologies like Enhanced Park Assist, Ford is going the extra mile to make sure ALL drivers feel safe and confident in its vehicles. Ford Motor Co. is listening to its customers' wants and needs, and part of what understanding your customers means is using data like this to inform how Ford researches and develops new technologies. Vehicles that offer the Enhanced Park Assist include the Ford Fusion, F-150 and the 2015 Ford EdgeBrighton Ford is located at 8240 Grand River Ave. just north of I-96 in Brighton. We are a family owned and operated business that strives for customer satisfaction. For more information on Brighton Ford visit BrightonFord.com or give us a call at (800) 836-8206.
