Production of Shelby Ford Mustang GT350 Will Stop After 2014

Production of Shelby Ford Mustang GT350 Will Stop After 2014
BRIGHTON, Mich. - It has been officially announced that production of the Shelby Ford Mustang GT350 will stop after the 2014 model. Orders for the customized Mustang will be taken through the end of the year, but stopped after the 2014 Mustang.

When asked why production will be ceasing, the president of Shelby American stated that it needs to keep the Shelby GT350 limited. One of the biggest appeals of buying a Shelby Ford Mustang GT350 is that it is a limited production vehicle that is highly valuable and collectible.  By stopping production of the GT350, Shelby American can ensure that their vehicles stay valuable and limited.

The first Shelby GT350 debuted on January 27, 1965 in Riverside, CA. The release of this vehicle was a great moment in automobile history, since it was the first time that a bigger engine was put into a small, lightweight car.

The current Shelby Ford Mustang GT350 has come a long way since the first - considered to have the most powerful production V8 engine on earth, this vehicle is a dream to drive. It has a 5.8L DOHC 32-valve V8 engine that can produce 662 hp and 631 lb.-ft. of torque.

Although the production of the Shelby Ford Mustang GT350 will stop after 2014, there's still time to get one of these collectible vehicles. Shelby American Rolls Out The Ford F-150 SVT Shelby Raptor

Shelby American Rolls Out The Ford F-150 SVT Shelby Raptor
BRIGHTON, Mich.- The Ford F-150 SVT Shelby Raptor recently debuted at North America’s largest automotive gathering, the New York Auto Show at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. Shelby American rolled out the Ford F-150 SVT Shelby Raptor to critical acclaim and wowed the attendees with its innovative design and raw power.

The Shelby Raptor starts off with a 2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor, which then goes through one of Shelby's characteristic extreme makeovers. The already impressive six-speed automatic transmission boasting 434 pound-feet of torque, is upgraded into a 575 horsepower monster after Shelby American gets their hands on it. The 6.2-liter V-8 engine is supercharged, skyrocketing the horsepower from 411 to 575 hp using a 2.9-liter Shelby/Whipple supercharger. The exhaust and cooling systems are totally reworked to handle extreme conditions by installing a custom Borla exhaust and upgrading the cooling system with a specially designed package.

The Shelby Raptor comes outfitted with a custom leather interior, a unique Shelby serial number, and eye-catching graphics. The initial demand for the Shelby Raptor was so high that the original plan was to cap production at 100 vehicles per year. Shelby American rolled out the Ford F-150 SVT Shelby Raptor and then announced that they will be producing 400 additional Shelby Raptors a year because of the high number of incoming orders. The upgrades to the 2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor start at $17,995, not including the sticker price of the original vehicle.

While the supply of Shelby Raptors is extremely limited, Brighton Ford can put you behind the wheel of a 2013 Ford F-150! Shelby Mustang GT350 Debut History

Shelby Mustang GT350 Debut History
BRIGHTON, Mich.- This week in classic American muscle car history, we celebrate the Shelby Mustang GT350 Debut. On January 271965, Shelby American introduced the first GT350 Mustang at a press event in Riverside, California. It was on that day that Shelby started a long history of high-performance, souped-up Ford Mustang madness. Carroll Shelby made the ultimate pony car history but putting bigger engines into smaller, lightweight cars.

Beginning its life as a stock Mustang, the future American classic received upgraded modifications like high-riser manifolds, larger rear drum brakes, and swapped Ford Falcon rear axles for heavy-duty Ford Galaxie rear axles at Shelby American in Venice, CA. Most importantly, the 1965 Shelby received a bigger, 4.7L V8 engine that produced an impressive 306 hp! The Shelby Mustang GT350, a performance variant of the stock Ford Mustang, offered incredibly more power and race-car tuning than any stock Mustang could offer.

Today, the Shelby Mustang continues to make fans drool and we continue to celebrate the 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350 Debut History! To learn more about the latest pony car, check out our 2013 Ford Mustang Brochure and remember that we can help you save on your very own performance vehicle with our Ford Mustang RebatesFord Mustang A Plan Pricing, and Ford Mustang X Plan Pricing.

Happy 47th Birthday to the Shelby GT-350!

A classic American beauty....and the girl is pretty too!
Brighton, Mich., Jan. 30, 2012 – Brighton Ford wants to wish a very special happy 47th birthday to an American muscle car classic, the Shelby GT-350 Mustang. It was on January 27th, 1965 at a press event in Riverside, California that Shelby American introduced the 1965 GT-350 Mustang. Shelby American itself is celebrating the company’s 50th anniversary this year as well. During those early years, Shelby was tasked with transforming Ford’s new smash hit, the Ford Mustang, into a performance machine that would be able to compete in the SCCA’s Class B production sports car class. Some auto sources have said that the first twelve unites were built within a week, but it is generally acknowledged that the first 100 units, enough to adhere to the SCCA’s homologation rule, were built and ready for inspection by January 1, 1965.

The Shelby GT-350 on the track
The original MSRP for the street-legal 1965 GT-350 cost about $4,547, almost $1,000 more than its counterpart the 1965 Mustang GT equipped with the K-code 289 V-8. Only 521 street-legal GT-350’s and just 36 race-spec GT-350R’s were built in 1965, which is quite a small number when compared to the total Mustang production of 559,451 units. The 1965 GT-350 is truly an iconic vehicle and it’s no surprise why collectors are still hunting after them today.
