Ford SYNC 3 Software Update Supports Android Auto & Apple CarPlay on '17 & '16 Model-year Vehicles
Ford is making Android Auto and Apple CarPlay software support available to model-year 2016 vehicles equipped with SYNC 3. Customers with model-year 2016 Ford vehicles can update to the new SYNC 3 version 2.2 by downloading to a USB drive, visiting a dealership or automatically through a Wi-Fi connection.
“Our SYNC 3 software platform was designed to be easy to update so we can get our customers the latest and greatest features, functionally and security enhancements,” said Don Butler, executive director, Ford Connected Vehicle and Services. “With over-the-air updates, we can deliver new features to customers in the background while they continue using their vehicles.”
Customers can update their software by visiting owner.ford.com to download and install with a USB drive, or by visiting a dealership. Customers with Wi-Fi-enabled vehicles and a Wi-Fi network can set up their vehicle to receive the update automatically.
Android Auto
Compatible with Android™ devices 5.0 and higher, Android Auto brings the Android experience into the vehicle safely and easily with Google Maps, Google Play Music, phone, messaging and third party apps projected on the car's built-in display and available via voice controls. With a simplified interface, large touch targets, Google voice search and easy-to-use voice controls, Android Auto is designed to minimize distraction while on the road.
Android, Android Auto, Google Maps and Google Play are trademarks of Google Inc.
Apple CarPlay
Compatible with iPhone 5 and later models running iOS 7.1 or higher, Apple CarPlay gives iPhone users an intuitive way to make phone calls, use voice-guided navigation, listen to music, and send and receive messages while staying focused on the road. Users can control Apple CarPlay through the in-vehicle display or via Siri voice control. Apple CarPlay support requires a USB hub upgrade available through Ford dealers.
SYNC 3 currently supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay on all model-year 2017 Ford cars including the Fiesta, Focus, Fusion and Mustang, SUVs including the Escape, Explorer and Expedition, F-Series trucks and Ford’s electrified vehicles.
Receiving updates over Wi-Fi
Though Ford has been issuing SYNC upgrades since 2009, this is the first time the company is offering an update via Wi-Fi. In Wi-Fi-enabled vehicles with Automatic System Updates turned on within SYNC 3, the system will periodically connect to a customer’s designated Wi-Fi network to check for updates. If an update is available, the system automatically downloads the update in the background over a period of time without any customer interaction. And SYNC 3 is designed to perform the update as long as Wi-Fi is connected prior to the vehicle turning off, therefore there is no need to keep the vehicle running for the update to take place.

2013 Ford Fusion Winner
BRIGHTON, Mich.- If you're a fan of our Facebook Page, you probably saw our post this weekend about Dianna, the winner of a brand new 2013 Ford Fusion! Yes you heard that right. Meet Dianna Williamson, 2013 Ford Fusion Winner. Just like many of you out there, she started entering Ford sweepstakes for the chance to win a new car: online, at Arts, Beats and Eats, and off of the TV show New Girl. Until one day, when she received a message that she had won a new car from Ford! Dianna, who has never won anything before, didn't believe that what she heard in the message was true. Wary of falling into a scam she did her research, with Ford, at the bank, and online until she realized that she was in fact a 2013 Ford Fusion Winner!
This couldn't have come at a better time, as Dianna was just looking into buying a new car so that she could give her 2004 Honda to her 17 year old son. Now, she's debating between 2013 Ford Fusion colors Bordeaux Reserve and Ruby Red Metallic and she can't wait to start using Ford's SYNC and MyFord Touch technology. Check out this video of Dianna heading out on her test drive:
Stay tuned as we keep you updated with Dianna's final choice! And if you want a 2013 Ford Fusion of your very own, we can make it happen with our Ford Fusion Rebates, Ford Fusion A Plan Pricing and Ford Fusion X Plan Pricing. So come on in to check out our Ford Fusion Inventory, we're located at 8240 Grand River Ave. just north of I-96 in Brighton. 2013 Ford Flex – Flex-able for Family, Fun, and Functionality
BRIGHTON, Mich. May 24, 2012 – Summer is just about here and
you know what that means – the kids are out of school, many sports seasons are
beginning or underway, and it’s the best time to take vacations and camping
trips. The 2013
Ford Flex is the best vehicle to take the little leaguers up to the
Brighton Schools baseball diamonds, or to take the kids for a fun-filled
educational day at the Howell Nature
Center. Everyone riding in the flex can enjoy the beautiful summer sky
thought the multi-panel Vista sunroof while they are enjoying the smooth ride
provided by the available 3.5L EcoBoost
Engine. The Ford Flex is so much more than just a fun taxicab for the kids. The
Ford Flex has many versatile technology features and plenty of cargo room for
you to get the most out of this vehicle.
Let’s talk tech. The 2013 Ford Flex has all of the latest
and greatest technologies you could want in any vehicle. For starters you can equip your Ford Flex with
the familiar SYNC

there is something in your blind spot, which makes merging or switching lanes
on the highway much safer and easier. Parallel parking has never been easier
then by simply engaging the Active Park Assist and letting the 2013 Ford Flex

![]() | |
The inflatable 2nd-row safety belts help keep your precious cargo safe in the event of a crash |
What about safety and functionality? Available in all Flex
models, the industry-exclusive inflatable 2nd-row safety belts help distribute
crash force energy across more of the torso area than a traditional belt, which
helps reduce the risk of injury while providing support to the head and neck.
In the event of a frontal or side crash, the inflatable safety belts hold the
passenger in the appropriate seating position, helping to reduce risk of
injury. These safety belts are compatible with child safety seats too!
Need to haul a big item, take all of your camping and fishing equipment up
north, or move your recent grad off to college? Fold those 2nd and 3rd
row seats down and enjoy 83.2 cubic feet of cargo space!

2012 Ford Mustang - 'Horsing' Around Brighton, MI
BRIGHTON, Mich. April 27, 2012 - We
took the 2012
Ford Mustang out for a review drive around Brighton, MI. This 2012 Mustang
featured a 305 HP 3.7L V6 Engine capable of 280 ft.-lbs. of torque - plenty of
power for the pony car. We popped the
hood and turned the engine on so we can hear it give out a nice roar. The
handling on the Mustang was exceptionally smooth. Every time we took a turn we
envisioned ourselves at the Michigan
International Speedway in front of a sold out crowd, but we had never even
came close to breaking the speed limit.
The interior was everything you'd want in your
Mustang, very comfortable driver and passenger bucket seats with a leather bench
seat in the rear. The in dash CD player with SYNC allowed us to access our
music without taking our hands off the wheel and keeping our focus on the road.
SIRIUS radio also provided us with endless listening possibilities, again, all
accessible through SYNC. We undid the latches and dropped the top to show off
the classic convertible look of the 2012 Ford Mustang.
The 2012 Ford Mustang still delivers
that exhilarating feeling that it has been know give for the last 48 years.
Don't just take our word for it, come and test-drive a New
Ford Mustang for yourself today! If you have any questions about the Ford
Mustang or any other questions for that matter, please, Contact Us today!

2012 Ford Edge – Opening Day Drive Around Brighton, MI
BRIGHTON, Mich. April 9, 2012 – We took the 2012
Ford Edge out to grab some lunch at the Green Oaks Village Place mall at Buffalo Wild Wings and to watch the
start of the Detroit
Tigers 2012 opening game. The 2012
Edge had all of the great features you could want in your Ford. The Edge has
“his and hers” seat setting preferences. With just the click of a button your
seat moves into that “just right” setting you saved it to, perfect for families
that share vehicles. This 2012 Edge,
like many of our great New
Ford Vehicles at Brighton Ford came with SYNC technology.
With a click of a button on the steering wheel and a voice command we had the
ball game playing on the radio without ever taking a hand off the wheel.
Being a passenger in the 2012 Edge was just as much fun as
driving it! The interior was very spacious in both the passenger seat and in
the second row. The best part about being a passenger in the Ford Edge was
leaning the seat back to enjoy the view out of the beautiful panoramic moon
roof. The automatic lift gate on the trunk is a huge help for those trips from
the grocery store where you don’t have a hand to close the trunk. This feature also comes in handy if your
heading to the golf course with your friends, and there is more than enough
room for everyone’s clubs in the trunk.
The 2012 Ford Edge is also a great family vehicle. Drivers
with younger children can take comfort in knowing that the Ford Edge met or
exceeded the IIHS safety standards in ALL
categories. And speaking of safety, the
back-up camera makes backing out of a tight parking space with limited
visibility safer and easier than ever. If any object is behind the Edge before
it backs out or while the vehicle is in motion an alarm will sounds letting you
know something is in your path.

2013 Ford Escape Sneak Peek

New technology features - the hands free lift gate is
something everyone can enjoy, as long as the intelligent key is in your pocket
all you have to do is make a gentle kick motion underneath the bumper and just
like that the trunk pops open - perfect if you have your hands full and can't
get to your keys. The intelligent key also makes locking and unlocking the new
Escape easier than ever. With a slide of your thumb on the driver side door
handle the Escape locks, pull the handle and it unlocks.
We heard many people say they did not like the new look of
the redesigned Ford Escape, but the pictures and videos from auto shows do not
do justice to the vehicles look. Once you see the new Escape for yourself, you
will agree the new 2013 Escape looks great.
With EcoBoost
drivers can improve fuel-economy without sacrificing power. You can still get
240 horsepower and 270 lb-ft. of torque giving you up to 3500 lbs of towing
capacity - plenty of power to get your boat out to the lake. The Easy-Fuel
system is great for mess free fill-ups at the pump.
Hurry in to Brighton Ford, the Escape will be here until
2:00 PM today!

2012 Ford F-150 EcoBoost – Work, Play, Perfection

Under the hood the 2012 F-150 SuperCrew’s 3.5L V6 EcoBoost
engine provides drivers with an astounding 365 horse power and 420 pounds of
torque – not bad for a V6 eh? It’s more than just ‘not bad,’ the F-150 has the
best in class towing! Ford F-150 can haul more cargo and tow a heavier trailer
than any of its competitors. And F-150 has a fully boxed frame that's the
strongest in its class. The F-150 has been engineered and tested to withstand
more punishment than your most difficult tasks can subject it to.
The F-150 isn’t just muscles either, this truck has swag to
spare. We got in the truck and adjusted our seats and after getting to Home
Depot and shutting the engine off the driver seat automatically moved back
so I could easily get out. Once I jumped back in and put the key in the
ignition the seat moved right back to where I had originally adjusted it! The improved SYNC
added a level of sophistication with its futuristic look and more responsive
interface. The heated seats in this F-150 EcoBoost work great for keeping you
warm and relaxed on drives during the cold winter months, and the cooled seats
help keep you chilled on a hot summer drive (which surprisingly we had one in
March!).
Talk about spacious – the legroom in the 2012 F-150 4X4
SuperCrew’s back seat was more than we have seen in large vans and SUVs!
Usually if you and your friends are carpooling in a truck is a race for shotgun
you don’t want to lose but with the extra room and comfortable seating in the
back you won’t mind giving up ‘shotty.’
Whether your off to the next jobsite, hauling the sleds of
north for some snowmobiling, or taking the boat to the lake for fishing and fun
on the water the 2012 Ford F-150 4X4 SuperCrew with EcoBoost is the perfect
truck to get you there.

The New and Improved MyFord Touch®
The ultimate
hands-free solution for driving around Livingston County just got even
better. MyFord Touch and SYNC just got some major upgrades including a more
responsive interface and improvements to the voice activated commands. The Ford Social blog has the details in their
post, “A
Faster, Simpler, Better MyFord Touch® is Here” Take a look:
![]() |
The upgrades to MyFord Touch provides a more responsive user interface |
The Ford SYNC® and
MyFord Touch® connectivity systems are resonating with buyers, ranking as an
important part of their vehicle purchase decision. In fact, 56 percent of
drivers of 2011 and 2012 models said in owner surveys that SYNC and MyFord
Touch were important to their purchase decision. The popular and flexible
systems are receiving an upgrade, launching on 2013 Ford Taurus and Flex, as
well as for current customers with eligible systems.
For current U.S.
customers, Ford will mail out MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch upgrade packages
that include a USB flash drive with the updated software, a notification
letter, detailed instructions for the 60-minute download and an updated user
guide. Navigation-equipped vehicle owners also will receive an updated SD card
with all-new, updated map data. If preferred, customers also can elect to take
their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer for installation of the upgrade.
There are three videos
in the playlist above that share more information about the features and
changes in this upgrade. As capable and popular as MyFord Touch is now, the
flexibility of the underlying SYNC software platform allows for regular updates
and upgrades as the technology evolves.
The touch screen
interface has been enhanced with simpler graphics and bolder text that is
easier to use. The response time of the touch screen is now much faster so
drivers can tap controls and focus on driving. Already popular voice controls
now provide even better recognition so drivers can tell their cars what to do,
keeping their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.
In addition to the
simplified interface and faster performance, Ford engineers added new features
including better phone compatibility, support for tablet computers and Audible
audiobooks, improved navigation maps and destination entry.
If you have any questions about the improved MyFord Touch
and SYNC feel free to ask them in our comments section or you can Contact Us here.

Bill Ford at the Mobile World Congress

SYNC
has already been included in over four million vehicles in the U.S. since the
product launch in 2007. Ford had recently announced that it would be bringing
SYNC to its European Ford drivers and by 2015 Ford plans to have 13 million
drivers equipped with SYNC, including 3.5 million in Europe alone. SYNC is
going to be Bill Ford’s backdrop for his Blueprint for Mobility.

William Ford as he gives his keynote speech about Ford's Blueprint for Mobility at the Mobile World Congress |
The Blueprint for Mobility sets short term and long-term
goals for significantly reducing Ford’s carbon footprint and to visualize what
the transportation will look like in the year 2025 and even further into the
future. Ford wants the company to be an innovative leader for the technology

system with projects like the vehicle-to-vehicle warning systems to alert
drivers of traffic jams and accidents. In the long run Ford is getting ready
for the transportation landscape change where pedestrian, bicycle, private car,
commercial and public transportation traffic will be woven into a single
connected network to save time, conserve resources, produce lower emissions and
improve safety for everyone involved.

upgrades, the Ford Focus Titanium has become a notable success by offering
customers exactly what they want in an upscale and efficient compact package.
So when Ford found out that a significant number of customers actually wanted a
manual transmission in the car, the company gave them that, too: After
initially offering the Focus Titanium solely with its six-speed PowerShift
automatic transmission, Ford soon will bring a five-speed manual gearbox into
play.
Although the decision may seem
counterintuitive at first, Ford says it’s a recognition of marketplace
realities: Many Focus Titanium buyers are coming to the vehicle from upscale
rivals that target enthusiasts by combining creature comforts with the kind of
dynamic driving experience that’s only available with three pedals, and these
shoppers expect the same from the Blue Oval. In meeting this customer demand,
Ford will add a new dimension to the Focus Titanium’s already athletic
demeanor, which features both a sport-tuned suspension—with standard rear
stabilizer bar—and an available Titanium Handling Package that tightens things
up even further.

Available Ford Features Review and Demonstrations on the 2012 Explorer
BRIGHTON, Mich. Feb. 24, 2012 - We have all seen the Ford commercials advertising all of
these crazy technological features. If you’re like most you wonder what these
features actually do, if they really work, or if you really need them. We
wanted to clear up any mysteries and show you first hand some of the awesome
features in action right here in Brighton, not in a commercial on a closed
course. To demonstrate these features we took the 2012
Explorer out around busy downtown Brighton.

MyFord Touch With SYNC is an excellent co-pilot |
Every great journey starts at the beginning, and in this
case, with the push start feature. Apply pressure to the brake and press the
ignition button and just like that, your Ford fires right up. AV plugins and
USB plugins allow you to connect media devices to your Ford so you can take
your entertainment on the road with you to play through your MyFord Touch with SYNC.
MyFord Touch and SYNC do much more than keep you entertained, it’s a virtual
co-pilot that will help you navigate, make and take phone calls, and even can
give you a vehicle health report for your Ford.
Taking your Ford on an adventure has never been easier with
the Terrain Management System. Turn the dial to match the road conditions and you’ll
have much better traction control for your off road expeditions and drives on
the snowy and muddy Livingston County back roads. With full rear climate control,
including head and feet directional settings and 110-volt outlet your back seat
passengers can plug in portable DVD players, phone and game chargers, and much
more so they can stay entertained while you stay focused on the road.
We have demonstrated these amazing features for you here in this video:
Another fantastic feature available on many Fords is the rear
view camera, which displays what’s behind you on the MyFord Touch display. The
guidelines show you an outline of that’s in between your tires, your distance
away from objects, and a directional guideline that shows you exactly where
your heading. The rear view camera preludes possibly the best feature on many
new Fords, the Active Park Assist.

Just press the button and your Ford will parallel park itself, its that easy! |
The Active Park Assist feature takes control and flawlessly
parallel parks your Ford for you, perfect for parallel parking on the busy
streets of downtown Brighton when you are going out to eat at Lou and Carl’s or Bagger
Dave’s or to shop at Impulse. Here’s
how it works: You press the Park Assist Button to engage the Park Assist mode.
Your Ford then scans the right side of the road for a break between cars to
locate a fitting parking spot. Once you’re asked to stop and put it in reverse
and your Ford will take it from there, keep in mind you still control the speed
and the shifting. Don’t be afraid, take your hands off the wheel (keep a foot
on the brake) and watch in astonishment as your Ford seamlessly maneuvers the
parking task many drivers fear more than anything. Park Assist is available on
the 2012 and 2013 Explorer, 2012
Escape, 2012
Flex, and 2012
Focus.
Come into Brighton Ford for a test drive and experience these
amazing features for yourself.
