3 Ways to Prepare Your Car for Winter

3 Ways to Prepare Your Car for Winter
BRIGHTON, Mich. - While fall is in full swing right now, winter will be here before you know it! Before the weather gets too nasty, and the roads become difficult to navigate, we've put together 3 ways you can prepare your car for winter.

1. Take care of your wiper blades and windshield wiper fluid. When you're driving down the road in snowy/slushy conditions, you want your windshield to be clear so that you can see what is in front of you. That's why it's important to make sure that your wiper blades are in good condition and that your windshield wiper fluid won't freeze. If your wiper blades are cracked, peeling, or leaving streak marks on your windshield, it's time to replace them. While you're taking care of your wiper blades, consider purchasing windshield wiper fluid that is designed specifically to spray in freezing conditions. By taking care of these two things, your windshield will remain clear and your surroundings visible.

2. Make sure your tires have adequate tread. When road conditions are less than ideal, you need to be as in control of your vehicle as possible - with bald or balding tires, you won't be able to do that. That's why we recommend checking your tires tread and replacing them if they are worn. Even better, exchange them for a set of snow tires that are designed to provide better traction and are equipped to handle extreme driving conditions.

3. Prepare an emergency kit to keep in your vehicle. When weather conditions are poor, it's important to be prepared for the worst. An emergency kit would be a great way to cover all your bases, should you be stranded in your vehicle. We recommend putting the following in your emergency kit:
  • Non-perishable food and water – Granola bars, water bottles, and hard candy have a long shelf life, making it perfect for your kit
      • A blanket and an extra pair of warm clothes
        • A flashlight
          • An ice scraper and a small shovel
            • An extra pair of warm boots and gloves
              • Jumper Cables
                • First aid and tool kits
                  • Flares
                    • Sand, salt or kitty litter to provide traction should you become stuck
If you follow the above 3 ways to prepare your car for winter, you should be ready for anything come this cold season. Should you need any assistance in prepping your vehicle, stop by our Commerce Township Area Ford Dealership! We would be more than happy to assist you in winterizing your vehicle.

                    Sneak Peek: 2015 Ford Expedition

                    Sneak Peek: 2015 Ford Expedition
BRIGHTON, Mich. - Spy photographers have recently gotten a sneak peek at the 2015 Ford Expedition, as the camouflaged car was seen out and about in southeast Michigan. Although it was covered pretty well, it does seem that the SUV has undergone a few changes.

When comparing the current SUV to the prototype out on the road, it appears that the vehicle will be getting a more upright front fascia and a taller, wider grille. In fact, the SUV seems to have taken some styling tips from the Ford F-150, and Ford F-Series Super Duty trucks in the face department. It's rear end also looks to have received an update, with a straight exhaust replacing the current angled one.

The 2015 Ford Expedition is expected to receive some under-the-hood updates as well, as fans have predicted that the new SUV will replace its current 310HP, 5.4-liter V8 engine with a 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6! The EcoBoost would increase the horsepower to 365, while improving the current EPA ratings.

Sneak Peek: 2015 Ford ExpeditionAs for inside the vehicle, it appears that the center stack has been modernized, but with knobs and buttons instead of the touch-sensitive controls. This model looks to be getting some storage space on the top of the dash, with huge silver-finished panels lining the center stack. The steering wheel will also be updated to accommodate the new design. An engine stop-start system is visible, promising drivers that the 2015 Expedition may offer hands-free keyless entry.

It will still be a few months before the finished product will be revealed, however, we hope this sneak peak at the 2015 Ford Expedition will suffice for now! If you'd like to check out the current model, stop by our dealership! We are proud to carry a variety of SUVs, Crossovers, New Ford Cars and New Ford Trucks. 2014 Ford Fiesta Raises Standard For Fuel Efficiency and Power

BRIGHTON, Mich. - The Ford Fiesta ST was recently named Small Car of the Year by Esquire magazine, and now the 2014 Ford Fiesta has raised the standard for fuel efficiency and power!

Coming equipped with the award-winning 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine, the new Ford Fiesta will be America's most fuel-efficient non-hybrid, gasoline-powered car! This small car gets 32 mpg in the city and 45 mpg on the highway, making for a total of 37 mpg. This fantastic fuel economy rating makes the new Ford Fiesta the best-in-class!

The new Ford Fiesta has also stepped forward as the only car in its class that produces more than 120 horsepower AND gets 45 mpg on the highway. It's 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine produces 123HP and 125 lb.-ft of torque, but features an overboost function that allows the car to make more than 145 lb.-ft for up to 15 seconds.

It is obvious that the 1.0-liter EcoBoost has taken the new Fiesta to a whole new level - both in the power and fuel department. Having previously only been available in Europe, the 1.0-liter EcoBoost will make its U.S. debut in the 2014 Ford Fiesta - and what a debut! With such great numbers, the new EcoBoost is predicted to do very well in the United States.

Along with the efficient new EcoBoost engine, the Ford Fiesta has an aerodynamic design that will also help the vehicle save fuel. The rear spoiler, side air deflectors, underbody shields, lower grille blockers, and low-rolling-resistance tires, all work together to keep fuel consumption at a minimum.

2014 Ford Fiesta raises the standard for fuel efficiency and power - all thanks to the tiny, yet powerful, 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine. To get more information on the EcoBoost, or to check out our various other vehicles that have EcoBoost options, stop by our White Lake Area Ford Dealership! Our friendly and knowledgeable sales staff will be more than happy to discuss vehicle details with you, or set you up with a test drive in one of our New Ford Cars.

Sneak Peek: 2015 Ford Mustang Convertible

Sneak Peek: 2015 Ford Mustang Convertible
BRIGHTON, Mich. - The automobile universe hasn't stopped talking about the 2015 Ford Mustang - especially now that Ford has announced the pony car will be released in December (4 months earlier than previously thought). Everything from prototypes to computer-generated images have leaked on the internet, and now we are getting a sneak peek at the 2015 Ford Mustang convertible!

This topless version of the Ford's pony car was spotted in Michigan, not far from the testing grounds.  Although it was heavily camouflaged, the vehicle still appears to be inspired by the Evos concept car look in the headlight and grille region.

The sneak peek also confirms that the 2015 Ford Mustang convertible will come with a soft top, as opposed to the heavy folding metal hardtop that was once rumored. This is more fitting for the new model, since Ford has hinted that they will be drastically reducing the weight on the new Mustang.

As for how the Mustang looks under the hood, the exact specifics will be released in December when Ford does the big reveal. However, it's believed that it will keep the current 3.7-liter V6 and 5.0-liter V8 engine options, and a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder will be offered as well.

For now, this sneak peek of the 2015 Ford Mustang isn't revealing too much. However, Mustang lovers won't have to wait too long to catch a glimpse at the updated model, as the vehicle will debut in December! To hold you over until then, stop by our Commerce Township Area Ford Dealership! We have a great selection of New Ford Cars - specifically the 2014 Ford Mustang. Pumpkin Carving Ideas

BRIGHTON, Mich. - It's that time of year again where houses are decorated in orange and black, and various pumpkins are set on every available flat surface. To help you decorate for Halloween, we've put together a few pumpkin carving ideas to inspire you in your decorating!

                    1.  Cookie Cutter Pumpkins! This is a great idea if you have a great selection of cookie cutters laying around your kitchen. All you need to do is place the cookie cutter on your hallowed-out pumpkin and gently hammer it through. Using cookie cutters is also a great way for kids to get in on the pumpkin carving action without using a sharp object.

                    Pumpkin Carving Ideas

                    2. A Witchy Pumpkin! Why limit yourself to just carving? Pull out the glitter, glue, and ribbons! This witch's leg is cute and perfect for those looking to decorate as opposed to scare. You could always add a red glitter shoe and give it that Wizard of Oz touch!

                    Pumpkin Carving Ideas

                    3. The Spooky Pumpkin! This pumpkin carving idea is a little more complex, and a whole lot more spooky!  Taking two different size pumpkins, you can give the illusion of a face cracking to reveal a skull underneath - definitely scary!

                    Pumpkin Carving Ideas

                    4. The 'Holey' Pumpkin! If you're looking to be a little more unique with your pumpkin carving, why not take a drill and make a polka dotted creation? This pumpkin will look great both inside and outside - especially in the dark!

                    Pumpkin Carving Ideas

Since you'll be spending quite a bit of time with your pumpkin creations, we recommend dipping it in a large container of bleach and water (use a 1 tsp:1 gal mix) to help your pumpkin last as long as possible! The bleach will kill all the bacteria and help your pumpkin stay fresh longer.

Have more pumpkin carving ideas? Or need a new ride to get you to the pumpkin patch? Stop by our Commerce Township Area Ford Dealership! We would be happy to point out all the local pumpkin patches, or show you one of our great New Ford Cars and/or New Ford Trucks

Ford to Showcase 57 Vehicles at SEMA 2013

Ford to Showcase 57 Vehicles at SEMA 2013
BRIGHTON, Mich. - The SEMA 2013 show is approaching rapidly and there are a few things we know: a Ford Yellow Jacket Mustang that is powered by a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine will debut, and Ford will showcase 57 vehicles at SEMA 2013!

We thought Ford was telling the automotive community its biggest SEMA surprise when it revealed Project Yellow Jacket. However, Ford has outdone itself by releasing information about one of the 57 vehicles in particular: a Hollywood Hot Rods Mustang GT Convertible (pictured above).

We can't imagine there being a bigger star at the show than this powerhouse, as the Hollywood Hot Rods have not only put a beautiful hardtop on the pony car, and lowered and stiffened the suspension, but they've also managed - through a combination of methanol injection and supercharging - to pull 750 HP out of the 5.0 V8 engine! Talk about a crazy amount of power!
Ford to Showcase 57 Vehicles at SEMA 2013
Along with this impressive Mustang, Ford will also be showcasing a selection of Ford Fiesta ST's. These Fiesta ST's will come in a variety of forms, everything from rally cars to street racers. Ford believes that by showing Ford fans the various ways that the Ford Fiesta ST can be used, consumers will fully realize the sporty compact's potential.

Ford will be showcasing 57 vehicles at SEMA 2013, making this show one of the more exciting automotive events this year. While we don't have the 750 HP Mustang on our lot, we do have a variety of 2014 Ford Mustangs that are anything but slow. While you're here, we'd also love to show you one of the Fiesta ST's, or another one of our New Ford Cars. We are proud to be White Lake Area's Ford Dealership. So come by and see us!

                    Sneak Peek: 2015 Ford Edge

                    Sneak Peek: 2015 Ford Edge
BRIGHTON, Mich. - Detroit residents were given a sneak peek of the 2015 Ford Edge this week, as four prototypes were seen on the outskirts of the Motor City. While the vehicle was heavily camouflaged, its wide stance and size made it easily recognizable by photographers.

Despite the camouflage, it's still easy to see that the 2015 Ford Edge will only be undergoing minor updates. The three-bar grill will be kept on this model, however, it looks to be more three-dimensional. As for the rest of the vehicle's shape, it appears to resemble the previous Edge's architecture.

                    Sneak Peek: 2015 Ford Edge

                    Sneak Peek: 2015 Ford Edge

The current Edge's standard v-6 engine and 240 hp, 2.0-liter Ecoboost four option are expected to carry over to the new model, while the Edge's platform is expected to undergo a major upgrade to the current Fusion's underpinnings. However, it will most likely keep its two-row seating arrangement.

Unfortunately, all of the information we have comes from observations and rumors. Ford will most likely reveal all accurate specifications and more, next month at the L.A. Auto Show where the redesigned model will be revealed.

Ford Fiesta ST Named Small Car of the Year

Ford Fiesta ST Named Small Car of the Year
BRIGHTON, Mich. - The Ford Fiesta ST has enjoyed only a small amount of time here on American soil, with the 2014 model being the first time the ST has been for sale in the U.S. Previously, this small yet powerful car was only available in Europe where it has remained popular. Now however, Americans finally get to enjoy and love this fantastic car, which is why Esquire magazine has named the 2014 Ford Fiesta ST the Small Car of the Year!

This small car packs a mighty punch with an award-winning 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine that produces 197 hp and goes from 0-60 in 6.9 seconds! Esquire raved about the power and handling of the Fiesta ST, claiming that it is unmatched by any other subcompacts on the market - and they're right. According to Esquire, only the Mini Cooper S and the Fiat 500 Abarth can compare to the Fiesta ST, however, the Ford still has significantly more power (181 hp for the Mini Cooper, 160 hp for the Fiat).

Esquire also says that the Ford Fiesta ST's practicality is what makes it deserving of the Small Car of the Year award. With everything from heated front seats, a usable backseat, a hatchback configuration and more, this vehicle is great for those that want a small car but don't want to sacrifice the power and practicality.

The Ford Fiesta ST has been named the Small Car of the Year by Esquire and we think it's more than deserving of the honor. If you'd like to see what this mighty little car has to offer you, stop by our White Lake Area Ford Dealership today! Final 2015 Ford Mustang Design Revealed

Final 2015 Ford Mustang Design Revealed
BRIGHTON, Mich. - The internet has been buzzing about the 2015 Ford Mustang Spy Shots since August. Now Ford Fans have been given another reason to talk as the final 2015 Ford Mustang Design has been revealed - somewhat. While this isn't a shot from Ford Motor Company, this computer-generated rendering is believed to be representative of the final design for the 2015 pony car. Using the lines seen in the spy shots, fans have been able to create a computer-generated Mustang that is believed to be what the final design will look like.

Looking at the spy shots, the modern and sleek design is apparent in both the computer-generated picture and the camouflaged car. The 2015 Mustang is expected to be about the same size as the current car, although the roof will be lower. The shape of the headlights and grille on the camouflaged prototypes seem to be influenced by the Evos concept and the 2014 Mustang, as do they in the above picture.

While the final 2015 Ford Mustang Design has been revealed, not much is known about any interior changes. The vehicle is expected to be released at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, so we will have to wait until then to find out all the exact specifications of the 2015 pony car. However, we do have a great selection of 2014 Ford Mustangs currently on our lot, waiting to be taken out for a test drive. Ford Teams Up With University of Michigan to Open New Battery Lab

Ford Teams Up With University of Michigan to Open New Battery Lab
BRIGHTON, Mich. - New plans for an $8 million facility have been announced as Ford teams up with the University of Michigan to open a new battery lab. This lab will receive funding from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, Ford Motor Company and the University of Michigan College of Engineering and is being created with the intention to make electric vehicle batteries that will be cheaper to produce and longer-lasting.

As of right now, electric vehicle and hybrid sales account for a very small percentage of the total U.S. vehicle sales. This is because of the fact that electric and hybrid vehicles sometimes come with a heftier price tag, due to that fact that it is expensive to produce the batteries that run these vehicles. Because of the materials used to create these engines, thousands of dollars get tacked on to the hybrid/electric vehicle price tag, which in turn, sways customers away from these truly amazing vehicles.

By creating this new battery lab in Ann Arbor, MI, Ford is hoping to severely cut production costs, and therefore, reduce the price of its hybrid/electric vehicles. Automakers, battery makers, and battery cell researchers will be able to come together at this lab and work together to find a way to create electric vehicle batteries that saves time and money, while also creating a battery that is more efficient.

Expected to be open next fall, this lab is currently one of a kind in the automotive industry. The way battery production currently works, battery suppliers/producers will create a battery that they believe carmakers will want to use. They then sell these batteries to the carmakers who in turn test them at their own facilities. This lab will allow for testing prior to the battery cell production process, which saves time and money for everyone involved.

Ford is teaming up with the University of Michigan to open a new battery lab which means that more efficient, less expensive hybrid/electric vehicles are in your future. However, if you'd like to check out our current selection of hybrid and electric vehicles, stop by our Commerce Township Area Ford Dealership today! 5 Awesome Tailgating Dip Recipes

BRIGHTON, Mich. - Football season is in full swing which means fans across the country will be coming together to tailgate and get excited for their favorite teams to take the field. While we are sure that tailgating is a fun experience no matter what, nobody knows how to tailgate like the people of Michigan! To make your already great tailgate celebration a little more delicious, we've come up with 5 awesome tailgating dip recipes that are sure to blow the minds of fellow fans and rivals alike.

5 Awesome Tailgating Dip Recipes1. Brown Sugar Cinnamon Fruit Dip. For those times when you need something sweet to dip your fruit in, this dip is super easy which means you can keep your attention on prepping for the football game and not prepping your food. You'll need:

                    • 1 bar (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
                    • 2/3 cup brown sugar
                    • 1 tsp. cinnamon
                    • A dash of nutmeg (optional)
                    • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
All you need to do for this dip is mix it well into a bowl and make sure that the dip is smooth. Once it's well mixed, you can serve it with fruit, graham crackers, or whatever else you think will taste best!

                    2. Pizza Dip. Everyone loves pizza which is why this dip is always a hit! You'll need:
                    • 1 bar (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
                    • 1 cup mayonnaise
                    • 2 cups mozzarella cheese
                    • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
                    • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
                    • 1/4 tsp. ground red pepper
                    • 1/4 cup sweet onion, diced
                    • 1 cup pizza sauce
                    • Your favorite pizza toppings
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, you'll want to combine the cream cheese, mayo, 1 cup mozzarella, parmesan, garlic powder, ground red pepper, and sweet onion. Spread the mixture in the bottom of a 10-12 inch oven proof pan and pour the pizza sauce over the mixture. Scatter your choice of toppings over the sauce and then top with the other cup of mozzarella cheese. This dip you'll want to bake for 25-30 minutes and serve with chunks of bread or crackers. Yum!

                    3. Hot Spinach and Bacon Dip. I think we can all agree that bacon makes everything tastes better. That's why everyone will love this spinach and bacon dip! You'll need:
                      5 Awesome Tailgating Dip Recipes
                    • 1 10 oz package frozen spinach, thawed

                    • 1 cup sour cream
                    • 1 cup mayonnaise
                    • 1 clove garlic, minced
                    • 1/2 cup feta cheese
                    • 2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
                    • 12 oz bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
                    • 1 tbsp. red pepper
                    • 1 tsp. thyme
                    • 2 tbsp. brown sugar
For this dip, you'll need to preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Mix the cream cheese, sour cream, mayo, garlic, red pepper, and thyme until smooth. Stir in the feta, drained spinach, and mozzarella cheese until blended. Spoon into a casserole dish and sprinkle the bacon evenly on top, and then follow with the brown sugar on top of the bacon. Bake for 20-25 minutes and serve with crackers, chips, or whatever kind of snack you like.

                    4. Chicken Dip. This dip looks way more complicated than it is, making it perfect for tailgating parties. Your friends and family will think you worked hard on preparing food for them, while secretly you can enjoy knowing it was a breeze to make - we won't tell! You'll need:
                    • 2 cup chicken, shredded
                    • 1 bar (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
                    • 1 cup mayonnaise
                    • 1 tsp. red pepper flakes
                    • 1 tsp. garlic powder
                    • 1 tsp. onion powder
                    • 1 1/2 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Then mix all of the ingredients, except for the cheddar cheese, until they are well combined. Spoon the mixture into an oven-safe dish and top with the cheddar cheese and then bake for 20 minutes. It's that easy! We recommend serving with Fritos, but you can use whatever you like best!

5 Awesome Tailgating Dip Recipes5. Blueberry Chipotle Dip. As weird as this dip sounds, the mixture of sweet and spicy is delicious! Not to mention it's a low cal dip that will let you save your calories for other tailgating snacks. You'll need:
                    • 1 5.3 oz Fage (or off-brand) 0% blueberry Greek yogurt
                    • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
                    • 2 tsp. ground chili powder
                    • 2 tsp. ground cumin
                    • Zest of lemon
                    • 1 tbsp. olive oil
                    • 2 tsp. chipotle in adobo
                    • 4 garlic cloves, minced
                    • 3/4 tsp. salt
You'll love how easy this dip is to make because all you have to do is puree all the ingredients in a food processor and refrigerate for a few hours. That's it! You can serve with chips or veggies and 1 tbsp. is about 18 calories.

Ford Yellow Jacket Mustang to Debut at SEMA

Ford Yellow Jacket Mustang to Debut at SEMA
BRIGHTON, Mich. - With so much excitement circling around the Ford Mustang as it quickly approaches its 50th anniversary, Ford has created a stir once again by announcing that a Ford Yellow Jacket Mustang will debut at the 2013 SEMA (Speciality Equipment Market Association) show.

Ford Yellow Jacket Mustang to Debut at SEMAThe SEMA show is a premier automotive specialty products trade event that draws thousands of people worldwide. The show is held annually the first week of November and is an exclusive event where manufacturers, media, car dealers, retailers and more can come together and participate in educational seminars, networking opportunities, and various other activities. Product demonstrations and big reveals are also a huge part of the SEMA show, which is why the Ford Yellow Jacket Mustang is going to debut at the event which will take place November 5.

Ford Yellow Jacket Mustang to Debut at SEMA
The Project Yellow Jacket Mustang was created by Ford and Vortech Superchargers - this means it's got plenty of power under the hood. With a 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine that can produce 605 hp and 473 lb-ft of torque, this vehicle is a huge improvement over what the Coyote engine produces in a stock 2014 Ford Mustang GT. However, even with all that power, the Ford Yellow Jacket Mustang still can't overpower the Shelby GT500's 5.8-liter V8 - but I think we can all agree that it wouldn't be right if it did.

Along with this powerful engine, the Yellow Jacket Mustang also comes with iForged Icon Wheels, Falken Azenis FK453 tires, Baer brakes with six-piston calipers, a tuned suspension, and a Webasto sunroof. Now that's a custom car!

If you'd like to check out the Ford Mustangs that we have available on our lot, stop by our Commerce Township Ford Dealership! We are proud to be Commerce Township's Used Car Dealer, so no matter if you're in the market for a new Mustang or a used pony car, we've got options! So come by today and let us help you into a vehicle that you'll love!
