The New and Improved MyFord Touch®

The ultimate hands-free solution for driving around Livingston County just got even better. MyFord Touch and SYNC just got some major upgrades including a more responsive interface and improvements to the voice activated commands. The Ford Social blog has the details in their post, “A Faster, Simpler, Better MyFord Touch® is Here” Take a look:

The upgrades to MyFord Touch provides a more responsive user interface
The Ford SYNC® and MyFord Touch® connectivity systems are resonating with buyers, ranking as an important part of their vehicle purchase decision. In fact, 56 percent of drivers of 2011 and 2012 models said in owner surveys that SYNC and MyFord Touch were important to their purchase decision. The popular and flexible systems are receiving an upgrade, launching on 2013 Ford Taurus and Flex, as well as for current customers with eligible systems.

For current U.S. customers, Ford will mail out MyFord Touch and MyLincoln Touch upgrade packages that include a USB flash drive with the updated software, a notification letter, detailed instructions for the 60-minute download and an updated user guide. Navigation-equipped vehicle owners also will receive an updated SD card with all-new, updated map data. If preferred, customers also can elect to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer for installation of the upgrade.

There are three videos in the playlist above that share more information about the features and changes in this upgrade. As capable and popular as MyFord Touch is now, the flexibility of the underlying SYNC software platform allows for regular updates and upgrades as the technology evolves.

The touch screen interface has been enhanced with simpler graphics and bolder text that is easier to use. The response time of the touch screen is now much faster so drivers can tap controls and focus on driving. Already popular voice controls now provide even better recognition so drivers can tell their cars what to do, keeping their eyes on the road and hands on the wheel.

In addition to the simplified interface and faster performance, Ford engineers added new features including better phone compatibility, support for tablet computers and Audible audiobooks, improved navigation maps and destination entry.

If you have any questions about the improved MyFord Touch and SYNC feel free to ask them in our comments section or you can Contact Us here.

Where do you go when you’re the gold standard? Platinum! The Ford Super Duty Platinum edition will be available as an F-250, F-350, or F-450. Take a look at some of the details of the Super Duty Platinum from Ford Social from their article, “Platinum Coming to Super Duty.”

The Ford Super Duty Platinum
From its bold mesh-detailed grille to its exclusive satin-chrome tailgate applique, the new 2013 Ford Super Duty Platinum clearly communicates your hardworking ethic and recognizes your platinum level of success. Inside, Crew Cab spaciousness combines with unique premium leather-trimmed seating to give this Built Ford Tough truck an unprecedented level of sophistication.

Available in the Super Duty Crew Cab, it can be ordered as an F-250, F-350 or F-450 and with the 6.7-liter Power Stroke® diesel engine or the 6.2-liter V8 gas engine.
The Super Duty Platinum clearly stands out, thanks to its unique satin chrome grille surround, 20-inch cast-aluminum wheels with unique painted pockets, a monochromatic bumper and chrome tow hooks. In fact, chrome is king – the door and tailgate handles, mirror caps, running boards, exhaust tip and the Platinum name on the boxside feature it.

Inside, meanwhile, there are special woodgrain appliqués, and a unique heated steering wheel with genuine walnut swirl wood and leather trim. Brown Oliver Ash woodgrain appliqué appears on the instrument panel end caps, center stack and door trims. And a new storage area atop the dash has a USB port, audio-visual connections and a 12-volt charging port for your cell or other digital devices. The voice-controlled MyFord Touch® connectivity system makes its first appearance on the Super Duty, and just for the F-Series, Ford designers have optimized the physical interface for MyFord Touch to accommodate truck users who may be wearing work gloves, by providing easy access to climate controls and audio presets on the center stack.
The refined interior perfectly compliments the bold exterior look of the Platinum Super Duty

MyFord Touch is standard equipment along with navigation, power-adjustable pedals, a rearview camera, Remote Start System, a universal garage door opener and power-telescoping mirrors. Available exterior colors are Ruby Red, Kodiak Brown, Tuxedo Black, Ingot Silver and White Platinum, while interior colors include Pecan and Midnight Black.

The 2013 Ford Super Duty Platinum will be available later this year and we will let you know right away when we get them on our lot.

Built Ford Tough, Tested Even Tougher

BRIGHTON Mich, Jan. 26, 2012 – Everyone has heard the expression, “Built Ford Tough,” but if you are like many others you wonder what that implies or if it’s just another marketing campaign. Rest assured, when Brighton Ford says “Built Ford Tough,” we mean exactly that… TOUGH.

Ford Social let us in on some of the secrets behind their cold weather testing at the Ford Proving Grounds in Dearborn, Michigan. One test they use is “Deep Thermal Shock,” where engines are cooled to -22 degrees, started, and let it idle for one minute. The engine is then accelerated to horsepower peak speed for 14 minutes until the manifold heats up and gives of a cherry red glow. This cycle is then repeated for 100 to 200 hours!

Dan Badger, Ford Powertrain Integration Supervisor explained, “Testing in extreme conditions helps the calibration team answer vital questions such as, ‘Are we getting the cold start times correct? Is the throttle body icing? Are we going through blizzards and seeing snow ingestion that we didn’t get in wind tunnel testing?’ We want protect customers in a worse-case scenario and deliver the best experience possible when they step on the accelerator pedal.”
