BRIGHTON, Mich - It was back in 2012 when the 365-horsepower, twin-turbocharged Ford Explorer Sport started to grab the attention of families who were looking for a vehicle to join them on a cross-country adventure. But now after some recent research, it seems that families are not the only ones who find all of the Explorer Sport's capabilities highly useful. The high performance and stylish Explorer Sport is now intriguing the younger, more affluent Ford consumers, with nearly one-quarter of sales being from buyers under 35 years old.

Surprisingly while the Explorer Sport is intriguing the younger, more affluent Ford Customers, 90 percent of sales come with the higher-level trim package starting at roughly $47,000. What makes this so interesting is that typically it is the older customers who have more disposable income to purchase the more expensive vehicles. Ford, and the auto industry as a whole, is now experiencing the group of millennial buyers. These are customers between the ages of 18 and 34 whom are well-educated, financially successful and provide the automaker with a better chance of customer retention. 

The Explorer Sport spends an average of ONLY 19 days on dealer's lots before finding a buyer, earning its spot as one of Ford Motor Company's fastest-selling models.

Ford Vehicles Connect with Apple's Siri

BRIGHTON, Mich - Ford Motor Company and their new partner, Automatic Labs, are giving Ford customers the opportunity to chat with Apple's Siri system while behind the wheel. From learning the local forecast to adjusting the thermostat at home, Ford customers will be able to do just about anything from the drivers seat.

Ford vehicles are getting connected with Apple's Siri, providing customers with a smarter and safer driving experience. Ford and Automatic Labs have created a small device that plugs into a port just below the steering wheel, connecting the driver's iPhone to their Ford's onboard computer. Aside from using Ford's SYNC AppLink, drivers are now able to push the press-to-talk button on the steering wheel and utilize all of the additional features that Siri has to offer.

Within the next few months, we will start to see select Ford vehicles connect with Apple's Siri. This $99.95 application will be compatible with only the iOS 8 update on the iPhone and vehicles equipped with SYNC or MyFord Touch. This includes the 2011-15 Ford Explorer, 2013-15 Flex, 2011-14 F-150, 2011-15 F-Series Super Duty and 2013-15 Taurus.

Apple Orchards & Cider Mills in Livingston County

How the "Green Zone" Can Make Ford Electric Cars More Efficient

BRIGHTON, Mich - Battery-operated vehicles...where else can we go from there? Well, Ford Motor Company has an idea. It should come as no surprise when we tell you that Ford is onto the next "big thing" in technology that will make driving more efficient, intelligent and safer for customers. Currently in the works is Ford's Green Zone; an underlying mapping system that promises to improve energy efficiency of battery-based vehicles.

Now, you're probably wondering how can the "Green Zone" make Ford electric cars more efficient? Well this system, which happens to be a subsidiary of Nokia technology, will give drivers the ability to use their navigation screen, or a website, to set up "green zones" where their vehicle will automatically run on battery power. This will reduce the need for a manual transition from gas to battery as well as determine the most efficient time to use battery or gas power depending on traffic and road conditions. 

Electric car drivers use their vehicles differently. Some find the battery is most efficient when operated at slower speeds as opposed to highway speeds. Others may choose to wait to use their battery power for specific roadways towards the end of a commute rather than from the moment they pull out of the driveway. With all of these factors in mind, Ford was in search of a more efficient solution. This is where Ford's Green Zone comes in, providing technology that is so precise, it will help motorists utilize their vehicle's battery-life to the best of its abilities. 

Although the "Green Zone" for Ford electric cars is still a few years away from production, Ford is determined to have several of its products feature the up and coming technology.

First 2015 F-150 "You Test" Video Released

BRIGHTON, Mich - Back in February Ford Motor Company launched the "You Test" campaign; where they would give a select group of truck enthusiasts the opportunity to put the 2015 F-150 through the toughest test of all - their own. After months of reviewing roughly 15,000 submissions on BuiltToughTest.com, Ford narrowed it down to four lucky winners.

The first 2015 F-150 "You Test" video that was released featured a systems engineer for military vehicle testing by the name of Brian Schober. Brian lives in Yuma, Arizona, so he put the 2015 F-150 up against a series of off-roading tests in the Arizona dessert -many of which are used to test military vehicles. After 36 hours of plowing through a 10-mile loop with rock crawls, sand washes and suspension challenges in triple-digit temperatures, the 2015 F-150 sure earned its title of being "Built Ford Tough".
