Ford Vehicles Connect with Apple's Siri

BRIGHTON, Mich - Ford Motor Company and their new partner, Automatic Labs, are giving Ford customers the opportunity to chat with Apple's Siri system while behind the wheel. From learning the local forecast to adjusting the thermostat at home, Ford customers will be able to do just about anything from the drivers seat.

Ford vehicles are getting connected with Apple's Siri, providing customers with a smarter and safer driving experience. Ford and Automatic Labs have created a small device that plugs into a port just below the steering wheel, connecting the driver's iPhone to their Ford's onboard computer. Aside from using Ford's SYNC AppLink, drivers are now able to push the press-to-talk button on the steering wheel and utilize all of the additional features that Siri has to offer.

Within the next few months, we will start to see select Ford vehicles connect with Apple's Siri. This $99.95 application will be compatible with only the iOS 8 update on the iPhone and vehicles equipped with SYNC or MyFord Touch. This includes the 2011-15 Ford Explorer, 2013-15 Flex, 2011-14 F-150, 2011-15 F-Series Super Duty and 2013-15 Taurus.

How the "Green Zone" Can Make Ford Electric Cars More Efficient

BRIGHTON, Mich - Battery-operated vehicles...where else can we go from there? Well, Ford Motor Company has an idea. It should come as no surprise when we tell you that Ford is onto the next "big thing" in technology that will make driving more efficient, intelligent and safer for customers. Currently in the works is Ford's Green Zone; an underlying mapping system that promises to improve energy efficiency of battery-based vehicles.

Now, you're probably wondering how can the "Green Zone" make Ford electric cars more efficient? Well this system, which happens to be a subsidiary of Nokia technology, will give drivers the ability to use their navigation screen, or a website, to set up "green zones" where their vehicle will automatically run on battery power. This will reduce the need for a manual transition from gas to battery as well as determine the most efficient time to use battery or gas power depending on traffic and road conditions. 

Electric car drivers use their vehicles differently. Some find the battery is most efficient when operated at slower speeds as opposed to highway speeds. Others may choose to wait to use their battery power for specific roadways towards the end of a commute rather than from the moment they pull out of the driveway. With all of these factors in mind, Ford was in search of a more efficient solution. This is where Ford's Green Zone comes in, providing technology that is so precise, it will help motorists utilize their vehicle's battery-life to the best of its abilities. 

Although the "Green Zone" for Ford electric cars is still a few years away from production, Ford is determined to have several of its products feature the up and coming technology.

Mustang and Lincoln's January Sales Overcame Brutal Weather

BRIGHTON, Mich - Record low temperatures and snow storms dumping inches upon inches all over the country didn't stop all Ford customers from shopping. Mustang and Lincoln brand January Sales Overcame the Brutal Weather and ended up topping last years sales.

Overall, Ford Motor Company January sales are are down 7 percent from a year ago and retail sales are off 5 percent. With the rough weather conditions over the past month, Ford was happy to have kept their retail sales up to the number that they did.  Fortunately for the Ford Mustang and Lincoln brand, they were able to dodge their losses and start off 2014 on top.

Lincoln and the Ford Mustang were the two stars this month, both improving sales from last year. Lincoln had the strongest sales in four years, up 43 percent with 5,973 vehicles sold this January. The sales increase was thanks in great part to the Lincoln MKZ, with 2,133 vehicles sold, and the Lincoln MKX, with 2,479 vehicles sold. Mustang sales totaled 3,881 vehicles; an 8 percent increase over last year and the best beginning-of-year performance since 2010.
