Ford Announces First EcoBoost-Powered Sport Truck: 2014 F-150 Tremor
BRIGHTON, Mich. - Ford Motor Company works hard to incorporate sustainability into its company; whether it be changes to the actual production lines, or changes to the vehicles, Ford is constantly evolving. The latest step in this evolution process is a new vehicle in the Ford F-series, as Ford has just announced its first ever EcoBoost-powered 2014 F-150 sport truck.
This new vehicle is expected to arrive at dealerships in the fall of this year, and will offer customers an engine that achieves 20% better fuel efficiency, as well as 15% reduced greenhouse emissions. The 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine that will be in the truck will produce 365-hp and 420 lb.-ft. of torque. As for the exterior of the sport truck, it has 20-inch flat-black wheels, a two-door cab, HD headlamps, and more.
Pricing for the F-150 has not yet been released, however, it will be announced closer to the actual release of the vehicle. Ford announced the first EcoBoost-powered sport truck, the 2014 F-150 Tremor, and is expecting the vehicle to do well. With over 1.74 million U.S. pickup trucks sold in 2012, and even more expected to be sold this year, the Tremor is expected to only add to the already booming market.

Speculation Over Leaked 2015 Ford Mustang Pictures
BRIGHTON, Mich.- Leaked photographs revealing what very well may be the 2015
Ford Mustang are stirring up conversation about the iconic American muscle car across the web. Ford aficionados passionate about the Mustang are anticipating the release of the sixth-generation version and are curious as to where Ford's design team is going with this particular revamp.
The photos that have been released are widely available on the internet and show clay mock-ups that are believed to hint at the final version. The models presented are consistent with some of the classical notions of the Mustang; although, it would appear that the photographs show a model that encompasses the old Mustang concept and builds on it to achieve something a bit more clean and modern. The 2015 Mustang is expected for release sometime in 2014 and may possibly coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the Mustang in April 2014.

Important Safe Driving Tips
BRIGHTON Mich., - While on the internet the other day I
stumbled upon an article written by a former race driver and driving instructor
who has experience in teaching young people to drive and knows their weaknesses
when doing so. I think it is
important to share his information with you. If you are a parent with teenagers
who are new to driving, then pass these important
safe driving tips on to them because it could very well save their lives.
Tip #1: Don’t be afraid to use your brakes!
The ABS in your vehicle has incredible abilities so even if
you hear a strange noise or pulsation from the pedal do not be alarmed, that’s
normal. ABS actually allows you to
steer while braking, so what is important to remember is that you don’t need to
pull hard on the wheel to turn and to not let off of the brake until you have
centered your steering. If you do
turn too hard without righting your vehicle then you could end up in a ditch or
crossing into oncoming traffic.
The numbers are of course referring to the position of your
hands as if your steering wheel were an analog clock. Before, you were taught that 10 and 2 were the correct
positions, however, due to modern technology and air bags 9 and 3 are now the
best possible positions. Most
vehicles are built with thumb hangers at exactly 9 and 3 anyways so just place
your hands near those! Never put
your hand at 12, no matter how cool it may look. If you hit something while resting your hand in this
position then your hand can hit you directly in the face potentially breaking
your nose, teeth and your hand itself, so unless you want to have the kind of
yearbook photo that you’ll never live down then don’t do it.
Tip #3: Always stay
calm!
It is common for young drivers (and even many older drivers
as well) to want to overcorrect when they find themselves drifting off of the
road. In the event that you’re
looking away from the road changing the air temperature or your mind begins to
wander, your vehicle may drift off of the road a little bit. If this happens then don’t panic! Simply take your foot off of the
accelerator and slowly steer your car back onto the road. You’d be shocked at how many accidents
and deaths can occur just because someone wasn’t paying attention to the road
and didn’t remain calm.
Tip #4: Practice your
reactions ahead of time!
It’s true what they say about how practice makes
perfect. Go to an empty parking
lot and set up some cones, or use your imagination to picture situations such
as a vehicle suddenly stopping in front of you on the road. If you haven’t practiced getting
yourself used to maneuvering around vehicles in an emergency situation then
it’s likely that you’ll run into the vehicle in front of you. However, practicing can get you used to
reacting appropriately within the 2 seconds or less you have to avoid an
accident.
So make sure you pass these important safe driving tips on to your teenagers, because even
though they’ve gone through driver’s training, they are far from knowing all
there is to know about driver’s safety and these tips could very well keep them
coming home safe.

Things You Should NEVER Say To A Police Officer
BRIGHTON, Mich. – Have you ever been pulled
over by a police officer for speeding?
If you have then you know that it can sometimes be a very frustrating
experience and it can lead you to say some things that could really backfire on
you. Use
our list of things you should NEVER say to a
police officer and you could save yourself a bit of money!
“If
I turn my car off then I won’t be able to turn it on again.”: Using this line
on a police officer will not help you out at all, even if your car really is in
bad shape. If you say this to a
cop then it could be cause for them to think that your vehicle is unsafe to
drive and therefore warrants another
ticket. It’s best just to do as
they say and turn your vehicle off, especially if it does turn on after you
turn it off.
“I didn’t bring my
I.D.”: Obviously if you don’t have your I.D. when driving a vehicle then you
will receive a large fine but this tip is more for cyclists. If you’re a cyclist then road rules
apply to you too and if you are pulled over by an officer for let’s say running
a red light then you will get a ticket.
If you try to tell the officer you don’t have your I.D. and you do (or
if you use a fake name) you could get in serious trouble. It is after all, illegal to lie to a
police officer.
“Why don’t YOU
tell me how fast I was going?”: Using any kind of sarcastic tone when
answering an officer’s question will
only serve to irritate them and they may issue you a harsher ticket. Remember that police officers are
people just like you and I and that they don’t deserve your attitude when they
are simply performing their duty to society. These are, after all, the same people who would risk their
lives to protect you if an emergency arose.
“There were
several cars speeding, why didn’t you pull them over?”: Complaining to an officer about getting caught speeding
will not help you win them over, in fact it will make them like you less. Imagine yourself as an officer and
picture someone saying that to you.
Yeah, ticket for sure.
“I don’t know how
fast I was going.”: Playing dumb will
land you with a ticket no matter what.
Police officers have people trying to get out of tickets all day long,
they know when someone is being dishonest. Saying that you don’t know how fast
you were going could make you seem like an inattentive driver as well and that
could land you with a bigger ticket.
Honesty is always the best policy.
Keep
this
list of things to NEVER say to a police
officer in mind for the next time you get pulled over and
remember to breathe. Getting a
speeding ticket is not the end of the world and definitely not worth arguing
with a police officer over.

Tire Tips From Brighton Ford
BRIGHTON Mich., - As a car owner you should know a
few very important tire tips so that
you can keep your car running smoothly and safely. Here are some facts that could really help you out!
- 1) When
you are only replacing two tires, put the new ones on the back: No matter whether you have a rear,
front or all-wheel-drive vehicle the rear tires are what provide stability and
the new tires must go on the back.
Otherwise you run the risk of spinning out when driving in bad weather
conditions or taking tight corners.
- 2) The
TPMS (tire-pressure monitoring system) in your vehicle does not alert you that
your tires are running low on air until they are more than 25% under the
vehicle manufacturer’s recommended pressure. TPMS is supposed to be a last minute warning not just a
friendly reminder so make sure you keep an eye on your tire pressure!
- 3) Your tires will not burst if you exceed
the “max press” number for your vehicle, however, reaching such a high pressure
level could cause a tire failure if you hit a big pothole on the road.
Keeping these things in
mind can help you to become a more conscious and safe driver, so pass these tire tips along
to your friends and family and make sure they know these simple yet important
facts about tire maintenance!

Anti-Theft Tips
BRIGHTON Mich., - Although statistically the chance of your
vehicle being stolen is less likely than any other year in the past 15 years,
there is still the possibility of a theft. That’s why you should arm yourself with these anti-theft tips
#1: Never park in a dark or secluded area, especially if you
plan on leaving your vehicle for a long period of time. Car thieves look for vehicles that
appear to be in disuse so either park your car in an attended area or remove
the battery to disable it and prevent a quick getaway.
#2: Vehicles that do not have an activated or visible alarm system are easy targets. Many cars
come with anti-theft systems but their owners do not have it activated. Simply make sure that you activate your
alarm system and thieves will steer clear.
#3: Keep all of your valuables hidden from sight in your
vehicle. If you have something of
importance in your car such as electronics then either stash them in your trunk
or hide them from plain view. They’re
easy to steal and easy to wipe clean and sell so just don’t take the risk. Even leaving charging cables can
indicate to thieves that you may have something of greater value in your
vehicle so hide everything!
If you keep these anti-theft tips in mind next time you’re leaving your
car somewhere then you can prevent the theft of your vehicle. So stay aware and be smart
about it!

Ford's Silicon Valley Lab
This lab will have at least 15 people working towards
innovating a new kind of Ford vehicle: the future Ford vehicle. It
is said that it’s important for this research lab to be in Silicon Valley and
not in Dearborn, MI so that employees may have free reign to experiment and to
integrate themselves into “one of the most innovative communities in the
world,” as explained by Chief Technical Officer Paul Mascarenas.
One way the lab will improve the car world will be to work
on better ways to include phones and other electronic devices into Ford
vehicles as well as apps that can find and reserve parking spaces for you. There are much larger issues at hand that
will be studied by the lab though, such as how best to handle traffic in
overpopulated countries like China and India.
It will be very interesting to see what types of technology
the researchers in the Ford’s Silicon
Valley Lab will come up with in the coming years!

Car Seat Tips
BRIGHTON Mich., - If you’re a parent of a young child then
you know how important it is to make sure that your child is safe at all
times. So then let us ask you
this, is your child’s car seat secure in your Ford vehicle? Read our Car Seat Tips and learn more!
Studies show that only 1 out of four car seats are installed
correctly
In the event of an accident a properly used car seat can
decrease the chance of a fatality by 71%.
Car seats do expire, and most of them in only 6 years so do not continue
to use them after their specified date on the back of the seat.
If you have a vehicle that was
manufactured after 2003 then you should use the latch system to secure the seat
in your car.
Your child should
remain in a car seat until their legs are long enough to be able to bend their
knees over the edge of the seat when sitting up straight. Otherwise children will tend to slouch
and the seat belt will not cover their hips (which is where it should be) it
will instead cover their stomach.
Why not head on over to our Brighton Ford lot and look for a
vehicle with a spacious back seat to fit your child’s car seat as well as all
the essentials for a child! Or
check out our Online
Inventory and shop around. We hope that you will use our Car Seat Tips to make your child's Ford experience safer. But remember, if you're not sure exactly how to install the seat then you can always find classes in your area even if it is just a two-hour class, it will help!
