Horizontal slots underneath the headlamps channel air from the front of the truck through ducting to openings in the wheel wells, which direct it across the outer surface of the wheel and tire. With the new F-150, an extensive amount of time was spent running aerodynamic simulations and doing wind tunnel tests which in the end produced a more aerodynamic, efficient F-150 truck– the first of its kind. Ford establishes Air Curtain Technology on the new F-150 which is the result of hard working Ford engineers and designers showing how incremental improvement helped the all-new F-150 earn its position as the most fuel efficient gasoline pickup in the light-duty truck segment!
