Ford Begins Training for Upcoming F-150 Production

Ford Begins Training for Upcoming F-150 Production
BRIGHTON, Mich. - A few weeks ago, Ford Motor Company made a public announcement that they would be adding a total of 1,550 jobs to meet the high demand for the all-new 2015 F-150. During the month of January, the 2015 F-150 averaged a turnover rate of 12 days from the day it arrived on dealership lots. After such a strong month of sales, Ford knew it was time to get a jump start on production and add a new batch of employees to help manufacture the smartest, toughest, most capable F-150 to date.

Ford is beginning to train new employees for the upcoming F-150 production at the Kansas City Assembly Plant. It should come as no surprise that to be apart of the construction of a highly advanced vehicle you must undergo hours of intensive training. Ford has developed a production training program to incorporate all of the latest in advanced materials, including new forming and joining technologies that utilize a new operation system rather than a conventional welding technique. Ford employees will spend more than 400 hours participating in in-class and hands-on courses, covering anything from installing and configuring new equipment to constructing the F-150's electrical control system.

Ford Begins Training for Upcoming F-150 Production

One of the most notable parts of Ford's training for the upcoming F-150 production is the "train the trainer" model. Once workers become experts on the new equipment, they will be expected to train other members of the crew that they work with on a regular basis. This ensures that every worker has a thorough understanding of the process and limitations of an assembly plant to successfully launch production. Kansas City Assembly will kick off production at the end of the first quarter of 2015. Together, Kansas City and the Dearborn Truck Plant will have the ability to produce more than 700,000 Ford F-150 trucks per year to be sold throughout the 90 different global markets.

Ford Adds 1,550 Jobs to Meet High Demand of 2015 F-150

Ford Adds 1,550 Jobs to Meet High Demand of 2015 F-150
BRIGHTON, Mich. - Ford Motor Company has added 1,550 jobs to meet the high demand for the 2015 F-150. After an insanely strong month of sales in January, Ford set out to add more jobs to support production of the all-new F-150. This January the F-Series saw the best sales month since 2004, where the 2015 F-150 had a sitting time of just 12 days on dealer lots and quickly became the Ford vehicle with the fastest turnover time ever.

On February 5th, Ford announced that they would be adding 1,550 jobs to the Kansas City Assembly, Dearborn Stamping, Dearborn Diversified, and Sterling Axle facilities to meet the high demand for the 2015 F-150. The new jobs will be added during the first quarter of 2015, helping Ford reach an entry-level allowance outlined in the 2011 UAW-Ford collective bargaining agreement. As a result of this, the first 300 to 500 "new traditional" employees will transition from their entry-level wage to a higher hourly wage.

The 1,550 jobs will be split amongst the four facilities with 900 being allocated to Kansas City Assembly, 500 will be split between Dearborn Stamping and Dearborn Diversified, and 150 will go to Sterling Axle. Ford Motor Company is thrilled that the demand for the toughest, smartest, and most capable F-150 has allowed them to provide more jobs within communities around the country.

How the 2015 F-150 is Revolutionizing Truck Bed Cargo Management

How the 2015 F-150 is Revolutionizing Truck Bed Cargo Management
BRIGHTON, Mich - When Ford first released news about an aluminum-bodied pickup, many were skeptical if it could live up to all of the hype. As we all wait patiently for the 2015 F-150 to hit showrooms, Ford continues to leak more and more information about what separates this truck from the rest. You have seen dozens of articles about the F-150 shedding pounds, its max towing and hauling rates, and its impressive engine options. However this time around, the company is sharing game-changing details. Ford is now revealing how the 2015 F-150 is revolutionizing truck bed cargo management.

How the 2015 F-150 is Revolutionizing Truck Bed Cargo Management

Let's state the obvious. Ford customers are generally using their trucks to haul mass amounts of cargo. For starters, Ford equipped the truck with convenient LED box lights, a power locking and remote tailgate release that can be triggered with the push of a button on the key fob, and segment-first cargo ramps. Then of course Ford Motor Company decided to take to the next level of efficiency for management and stowage of cargo  with the 2015 F-150's patented BoxLink™ system. BoxLink includes four lockable, die-cast zinc tie-down cleats that provide an interface to the box for an improved level of flexibility and organization.

The BoxLink provides F-150 drivers with four additional tie-down locations in the box to complement the four fixed tie-down hooks.  From a horizontal load of 275 pounds to a diagonal load of 600 pounds, the BoxLink is in an area of the truck bed that accommodates all cargo loads no matter the size or shape. Ford's ultimate goal for revolutionizing truck bed cargo management is to allow customers to optimize the BoxLink system and to provide even more personalized solutions for the pickup truck bed.

Production of 2015 F-150 Brings 850 Jobs to Rouge Center

Production of 2015 F-150 Brings 850 Jobs to Rouge Center
BRIGHTON, Mich - Ford Motor Company announced yesterday that the production of the all-new 2015 F-150 will bring 850 jobs to the Dearborn Rouge Center. The jobs were divided amongst three facilities that are involved in creating the aluminum-intensive pickup- 500 for the truck assembly plant, roughly 300 for the stamping factory and more than 50 for diversified operations.

The production of the all-new 2015 F-150 has brought 850 jobs to the Dearborn Rouge Center and has also helped Ford Motor Company to surpass its goal of creating 12,000 hourly jobs in the United States by 2015. Ford's total new job creation exceeds 14,000 to date with more than 4,000 jobs added in southeastern Michigan alone!

With production of the 2015 F-150 came a complete renovation of the Dearborn Truck Plant; the first major manufacturing transformation in a decade. All of the legacy manufacturing equipment was taken out and replaced with top-of-the-line production technology. The Ford Rouge Factory Tour is even receiving a makeover with the addition of new films, exhibits and hands-on experiences that are tied with the new pickup truck.

America's best-selling pickup is scheduled to go into production soon and arrive in showrooms later this year.

Pricing for 2015 Ford F-150 Released

Pricing for 2015 Ford F-150 Released
BRIGHTON, Mich - As of yesterday, U.S. and Canadian dealers were able to begin placing orders for the 2015 Ford F-150 pickup truck that will hit showrooms later this year. Now that the pricing for the 2015 Ford F-150 has been released, customers will notice that Ford Motor Company has raised the prices on the aluminum-bodied F-Series pickup by $395 to $3,615.

The base model 2015 XL F-150 will start at $26,615, up $395, and the top-end Platinum version will start at $52,144, up $3,055. The biggest price increase is on the King Ranch F-150, which will not start at $49,460, up $3,615. Being that this F-150 model is a lightweight, aluminum-bodied pickup and has a predicted fuel economy of 30 miles per gallon on the highway, Ford believe that buyers will pay the premium amount for the F-Series truck. Aluminum does happen to be more costly than steel, but the added price stems from added content, improved performance and better efficiency, not the materials.

Ford will be losing production of roughly 90,000 F-Series pickups as it converts two factories to aluminum truck production. Changing the 2015 Ford F-150 to aluminum is the largest and most complicated launch in the history of Ford Motor Company. It will be a tough process, but Ford is confident that their loyal customers will respond positively and make all of these obstacles worth while.

The Pioneer of Global Truck Leadership Celebrates 80th Anniversary

BRIGHTON, Mich - Ford is recognizing the Pioneer of Global Truck Leadership and Celebrates the 80th Anniversary of the iconic Ute. The Australian invention of the Ute led to the development of several popular vehicles that we enjoy today like the F-Series and Ranger. The concept had been released around the world, impacting designers by other manufacturers and gaining many fans from around the globe over the years.

The Pioneer of Global Truck Leadership Celebrates 80th Anniversary

The birth of the Ute came from a letter. This letter was written to managing director of Ford Motor Company Australia, Hubert French. A farmer's wife wrote him, explaining that they could not afford two vehicles, but needed some type of automobile they could drive to church as well as use for farming necessities. French then took the letter to a young designer, Lewis Brandt. Brandt developed the Ford utility as a coupe with an integrated steel-paneled load carrying area at the rear of the vehicle. He blended the "pickup" sides with a coupe body, making for a cleaner profile and a larger loading area behind the cabin. The perfect vehicle for carrying cargo and driving into town.

Over a few years, the Ford coupe-utility took on a few adjustments. Quickly it became the "must have" vehicle for rural communities. About 22,000 were sold between 1950 and 1954. Lewis Bandt's design made a huge impact on the Australian auto industry. The original design by Bandt eventually paved the road for what now has become some of the world's most popular vehicles - the Pickup or utility.

As the Pioneer of Global Truck Leadership Celebrates 80th Anniversary, we can appreciate all of the success it has brought to Ford Motor Company. Thanks to the Ute, Ford pickups globally represent one out of every five pickups sold! Without the Ute, the F-Series also wouldn't be the world's best-selling truck in the United States for 37 years in a row! Who would have thought a simple letter could turn out an idea and then a design that has impacted the entire world? Happy Anniversary, Aussie Ute and thank you for helping Ford change the world!
