Coming Soon: 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt With 475-HP

Ford is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Bullitt with a subtle, muscular Mustang. We think McQueen would dig it!

Fifty years ago, Steve McQueen had all the Ford branding ripped off the Mustang he’d be driving in Bullitt. That treatment has, over the decades, become a powerful brand. Irony, that. But no matter: The Bullitt Mustang is great, and after a decade furlough, it’s back.

You already know the look: dark green paint, black mag wheels, blacked-out exhaust tips, and minimal badging. The 2019 Bullitt is still, hands down, the best-looking version of the latest Mustang. Minor interior tweaks include instrument panel graphics, specific dash stitching, and a unique pattern for the standard seats (Recaros are optional).

Mechanical changes make the Bullitt the meanest Mustang shy of a GT350. The 5.0-liter V8 gets a larger throttle body and special intake for at least a 15-hp bump over the 460-hp GT. “We know we're over 475 hp and are still going through the final tuning to try to push that,” says chief engineer Carl Widdman. A six-speed manual is the only transmission. Ford’s 10-speed automatic may have facilitated quicker acceleration, but Steve wouldn’t have cared, and neither should you. Active exhaust is standard. Widdman promises this Bullitt—the first since 2008, before Ford introduced the Coyote 5.0-liter V-8—will have a distinct growl. Top speed has been raised from 155 to 163 mph.

The Bullitt essentially carries over suspension and brake upgrades from the GT’s Performance Pack—Brembo brakes with larger rotors, Michelin PS4 summer tires. Magnetorheological dampers will be optional. The Bullitt will not be offered with the track-oriented Performance Pack 2 (Michelin Sport Cup tires, stiffer suspension aero modifications). “Different kind of car,” Widdman says.

It’s also, Widdman’s careful to point out, a different kind of car than the original. The retro vibes come through more powerfully than ever in the marketing, thanks to the fiftieth anniversary and the rediscovery of the movie car. Ford even brought in Steve McQueen’s 30-year-old granddaughter, Molly, to introduce the thing. But for the Mustang development team, “Bullitt” is merely a byword for a “cool, refined, understated setup.”

Brighton Ford is excited to bring these muscle cars to buyers in the state of Michigan.  Stay tuned to our website and Facebook Page for details on when we will have a 2019 Bullitt Mustang for you to test drive!

The Ford GT Takes Home The Top North American Concept Vehicle Award

The Ford GT Wins Top North American Concept Vehicle Award
Courtesy of Ford Motor Company

BRIGHTON, Mich. - The Ford GT takes home the Top American Concept Vehicle Award, and these awards always focus on and recognize those vehicles most likely to shape the future of the auto industry as a whole. The fact that Ford's player in the sports car game is getting so much national recognition is super exciting! Each of the vehicle candidates were put through an intense selection process headed by more than two dozen jurors, and every vehicle nominated was introduced during this season's North American auto shows in Los Angeles, Detroit, Chicago, Toronto and New York. Finalists in the category included the Aston Martin Vulcan, the Buick Avenir and the Ford GT.

The Ford GT took home the 2015 Production Preview Concept award, which marked the brand's 20th time as a category finalist and the fifth time as category winner. One of the jurors stated that the "Ford GT is already one of the all-time great designs, with styling that is simultaneously breathtaking and aerodynamically functional. A car for the ages."

The Ford GT takes home the Top American Concept Vehicle Award, which isn't surprising due to the national and international popularity the GT has been generating lately. The 2017 Ford GT will feature a stunning, next-generation twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6, and will produce more than 600 horsepower. The exciting EcoBoost engine will also be paired with  a seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle for a near instantaneous gear change and exceptional driver control.

The new GT will join other Ford models, the Focus ST, Fiesta ST,  F-150 Raptor, Shelby GT350® and the Shelby® GT350R, as the latest addition to the Ford Performance lineup. At your local Hartland Area Used Car Dealer, we offer deals on New Cars and Used Cars, as well as Performance Cars.  If you would like to see them up close and personal, feel free to stop by! Brighton Ford is located at 8240 Grand River Ave. just north of I-96 in Brighton. We are a family owned and operated business that strives for customer satisfaction. For more information on Brighton Ford visit BrightonFord.com or give us a call at (800) 836-8206.

Pricing of the 2017 Ford GT

Pricing of the 2017 Ford GT
BRIGHTON, Mich. - After debuting this insane, jaw-dropping, supercar at the 2015 North American International Auto Show, we should have all known that it would come with a hefty price tag. Pricing of the 2017 Ford GT has been officially announced and one thing is for sure, the supercar's power, performance, and incredible capabilities will not come for free!

The 2017 Ford GT's twin-turbocharged EcoBoost 3.5-liter V-6 boasts more than 600 horsepower, easily making this one of the most impressive performance vehicles in the world. What will it cost a consumer for all of this power? Well, Ford's performance division recently announced that price of the 2017 Ford GT will start at $400,000! The 250 units of the car, which are mostly built by hand, are excepted to head into production next year.

Sure, it is a bit of a price jump compared to other Ford vehicles. However, the new GT is everything a supercar enthusiast could want in a vehicle. The technology and capability that the Ford GT offers are raising the bar for performance vehicles as we know it. The supercar will feature innovations that can be applied across Ford's future product portfolio, which means that Ford will ultimately be improving vehicles for all of their customers across the board!

Looking for a quality, safe, and advanced vehicle that will fit into your family's budget? No worries, Brighton Ford can help! Ford Donates NAIAS "Innovation Park" Display to Local Organizations
BRIGHTON, Mich. - Ford Motor Company certainly made their mark this year at the 2015 North American International Auto Show. Between debuting three show-stopping performance vehicles and their interactive show stand, the automaker gave attendees plenty to talk about. If you attended the 2015 NAIAS and spent time at the Ford display, you'll know first hand just how dedicated the company is to sustainability. Ford Motor Company is continuing this commitment by donating the NAIAS "Innovation Park" display to two local organizations in Southeast Michigan.

Ford Donates NAIAS "Innovation Park" Display to Local OrganizationsFord's "Innovation Park" display integrated water and plant elements to exemplify how Ford researchers are making use of organic materials while reducing waste, carbon dioxide emissions, and water usage. All of the plants, trees, and flowers that were in the display will be relocated to greenhouses at Detroit's Belle Isle Park, while the forty pieces of concrete that formed the foundation of the park make their way to North Star Reach - a nonprofit organization in Pinckney, Michigan that provides a year-round camp for children with serious and life-threatening illnesses.

Ford donating the NAIAS "Innovation Park" display to two local organizations in Southeast Michigan is just another demonstration of the company's devotion to sustainability. If you are interested in learning more about Ford's Blueprint for Sustainability, please click here.

New Stability Control Technology to be Featured on Focus RS

New Stability Control Technology to be Featured on Focus RS
BRIGHTON, Mich. - The third-generation Ford Focus RS will soon be available in markets all around the world, including the United States, and will quickly set a new benchmark for Ford Performance vehicles. The Focus RS features some the latest in performance technology and innovative engineering, offering consumers an enhanced experience out on the road and on the track.

There is an impressive addition to the new Focus that will actually be able to predict the future. Well, predict future spinouts that is. The new stability control technology that will be featured on the Focus RS can determine when a car meets conditions that may lead to a spin and then take the proper precautions to prevent the driver from losing control. The enhanced transitional stability technology will be a standard on the new Ford Focus RS, combining real-time data from sensors placed throughout the car that will anticipate possible spinouts by 100 to 200 milliseconds.

This is how it works: the technology recognizes the vehicle's speed, the steering wheel position, and the turn rate of the steering wheel and will determine if a skid or spinout is imminent. If the vehicle detects a risk, the brakes will be applied to the individual wheels to help the driver keep control of the vehicle and remain on the road. Since the new stability control technology featured on the Focus RS will be able to recognize situations that can lead to the driver losing control before it happens, the driver will experience a quicker, smoother, and more controlled "recovery process".
