Red Cross Blood Bus is Heading to Brighton Ford on February 4th

BRIGHTON, Mich - The Red Cross Blood Bus is Heading to Brighton Ford on February 4th! Help support the American Red Cross by donating blood at the dealership from 11:30am until 5:30pm! Contact Karen Swieczkowski at (800) 836-8206 ext. 4431 to sign up for a time slot. We will be excepting walk-ins, however, it makes the process run more smoothly if you make an appointment!

Now, you may be wondering....why should I donate blood? What is the point? Well, we are here to tell you that every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood and from that more than 41,000 donations are needed each day. Most commonly, Type O blood is in demand because it can be transfused to patients of all blood types.

Over the course of a year, roughly 15.7 million blood donations are collected by 9.2 million blood donors. The blood donating process is a completely safe and sterile process. A sterile needle is used for each donor and then discarded. Each blood donor is given a mini-physical to check the donor's temperature, blood pressure, pulse and hemoglobin to be sure it is completely safe. The blood donation typically takes 10-12 minutes and each donor usually gives around 1 pint of blood.

The American Red Cross supplies about 40 percent of the nation's blood supply and provides blood for patients in approximately 2,700 hospitals across the U.S. What is so great about this organization is that 80 percent of the blood donations that are given to the Red Cross are collected a mobile blood drives set up at community organizations, companies, high schools, colleges, places of worship or military installations.
