Ford Super Duty – Going Platinum

Where do you go when you’re the gold standard? Platinum! The Ford Super Duty Platinum edition will be available as an F-250, F-350, or F-450. Take a look at some of the details of the Super Duty Platinum from Ford Social from their article, “Platinum Coming to Super Duty.”

The Ford Super Duty Platinum
From its bold mesh-detailed grille to its exclusive satin-chrome tailgate applique, the new 2013 Ford Super Duty Platinum clearly communicates your hardworking ethic and recognizes your platinum level of success. Inside, Crew Cab spaciousness combines with unique premium leather-trimmed seating to give this Built Ford Tough truck an unprecedented level of sophistication.

Available in the Super Duty Crew Cab, it can be ordered as an F-250, F-350 or F-450 and with the 6.7-liter Power Stroke® diesel engine or the 6.2-liter V8 gas engine.
The Super Duty Platinum clearly stands out, thanks to its unique satin chrome grille surround, 20-inch cast-aluminum wheels with unique painted pockets, a monochromatic bumper and chrome tow hooks. In fact, chrome is king – the door and tailgate handles, mirror caps, running boards, exhaust tip and the Platinum name on the boxside feature it.

Inside, meanwhile, there are special woodgrain appliqués, and a unique heated steering wheel with genuine walnut swirl wood and leather trim. Brown Oliver Ash woodgrain appliqué appears on the instrument panel end caps, center stack and door trims. And a new storage area atop the dash has a USB port, audio-visual connections and a 12-volt charging port for your cell or other digital devices. The voice-controlled MyFord Touch® connectivity system makes its first appearance on the Super Duty, and just for the F-Series, Ford designers have optimized the physical interface for MyFord Touch to accommodate truck users who may be wearing work gloves, by providing easy access to climate controls and audio presets on the center stack.
The refined interior perfectly compliments the bold exterior look of the Platinum Super Duty

MyFord Touch is standard equipment along with navigation, power-adjustable pedals, a rearview camera, Remote Start System, a universal garage door opener and power-telescoping mirrors. Available exterior colors are Ruby Red, Kodiak Brown, Tuxedo Black, Ingot Silver and White Platinum, while interior colors include Pecan and Midnight Black.

2012 Ford Focus Electric – America’s Most Fuel-Efficient 5 Passenger Vehicle

With gas prices continuously rising we’re looking forward to seeing the 2012 Ford Focus Electric. The Focus Electric will become America’s most fuel-efficient five-passenger vehicle with a whopping 110 MPGe EPA rating. Although the Focus Electric will be available in California, New York, and New Jersey at first Ford plans to have the Focus Electric available in 19 markets across the U.S. by the end of 2012. Who knows, if the Focus Electric is a smashing success we could see it quickly spread to more markets. We wanted to share more information about the 2012 Focus Electric from an article from Media.Ford.com called,  “Ford Focus Electric Becomes America’s Most Fuel-Efficient Five-Passenger Vehicle with 110 MPGe EPA Rating.” Take a look:

  • U.S. Environmental Protection Agency certifies the 2012 Ford Focus Electric as America’s most fuel-efficient five-passenger vehicle with a 110 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) city rating
  • Focus Electric achieves a combined rating of 105 MPGe, topping Nissan Leaf by 6 MPGe while also offering more motor power, passenger room and standard features
  • Customers can make more use of this efficiency with Ford’s faster charging technology that can recharge Focus Electric in about half the time of Nissan Leaf
  • Ford gives customers the power of choice with 10 fuel-efficiency leaders across segments and powertrain technologies

The 2012 Ford Focus Electric
DEARBORN, Mich., March 2, 2012 – Ford’s all-new Focus Electric is now officially America’s most fuel-efficient five-passenger car with a certified 110 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) city rating and 99 MPGe on the highway.

Focus Electric also has been certified by the EPA to offer 105 MPGe combined, beating Nissan Leaf by 6 MPGe while offering more motor power and more standard features. Focus Electric’s 99 MPGe highway certification bests the 92 MPGe rating for the Leaf.

Focus Electric bests Nissan Leaf in other ways, too – more passenger room and a faster charging system that allows for a full recharge in nearly half the time of Nissan Leaf.

The Focus line soon will be joined by the new 2013 Ford Fusion – aiming to be America’s most fuel-efficient gas- and hybrid-powered midsize sedans – to help create one of the industry’s most fuel-efficient car lineups. The Fusion Energi plug-in hybrid is projected to become the world’s most fuel-efficient midsize sedan by achieving more than 100 MPGe in electric mode.

“Ford is giving customers the power of choice for leading fuel economy regardless of what type of vehicle or powertrain technology they choose,” said Eric Kuehn, chief nameplate engineer, Focus Electric. “The Focus and Fusion are great examples of how we transformed our fleet of cars, utilities and trucks with leading fuel efficiency.”

The interior will keep the elegant look Ford owners are used to and will include features like SYNC and MyFord touch
The EPA-approved Focus Electric label also certifies that the car has a range of 76 miles on a single charge compared with the 73-mile range of the Leaf. The Focus Electric can be driven up to 100 miles on a single charge depending on driving habits. The average driver drives 29 miles a day, according to the Bureau of Transportation Statistics website.

The approved label also will say customers could save $9,700 in fuel costs over the course of five years compared with the average new vehicle. Comparative savings could go even higher if the current trend of rising gas prices continues. In California alone, the cost for a gallon of gas rose 20 cents in a seven-day period that ended last week.
-
-
“We’ve been working for three years to make the Focus Electric America’s most fuel-efficient vehicle of its kind,” said Chuck Gray, Ford chief engineer of Global Core Engineering Hybrid and Electric Vehicles. “The entire group feels like a sports team that has just won a major championship. It’s a good feeling to be at this point now.”

Unlike competitors that have designed electric and hybrid vehicles from scratch, Focus Electric benefits from being based on the fuel version of Ford’s global C-segment car.

“Focus Electric shares many of the same premium components and features as its gasoline-powered counterpart while delivering distinct efficiencies and a uniquely exciting driving experience,” said Kuehn.

In addition to boosting quality, Ford’s strategic decision to electrify vehicle platforms – instead of creating one-off vehicles – allows the company to offer customers more choices as part of its fuel-efficient product lineup.

With 240-volt charging the 2012 Focus Electric can be recharged and ready to roll in half the time it takes to recharge the Nissan Leaf
Elec-tech
Focus Electric features an advanced charging system that allows the car’s battery to fully recharge in four hours – nearly half the time of Nissan Leaf – using available 240-volt outlets that can be installed in residential garages.

Faster charging with 240 volts also can extend range as drivers can more quickly recharge between stops – up to 20 miles per charge hour – so they can significantly improve a car’s range during a busy day of driving by recharging multiple times.

If you have any questions about any of our vehicles and hybrids feel free to ask! We'll be happy to answer any and all of your questions.

Bill Ford at the Mobile World Congress

William “Bill” Clay Ford, Jr. was a keynote speaker at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week. Here Bill Ford discussed Ford’s current mobile technology innovations as well as shared his visions and plans for the technology future of the company. “Both the automotive and telecom industries are at historic crossroads.” said Ford.

SYNC has already been included in over four million vehicles in the U.S. since the product launch in 2007. Ford had recently announced that it would be bringing SYNC to its European Ford drivers and by 2015 Ford plans to have 13 million drivers equipped with SYNC, including 3.5 million in Europe alone. SYNC is going to be Bill Ford’s backdrop for his Blueprint for Mobility.

The Blueprint for Mobility sets short term and long-term goals for significantly reducing Ford’s carbon footprint and to visualize what the transportation will look like in the year 2025 and even further into the future. 10 Driving Tips For Your Teen Driver

Parents are you getting ready to take your teen to All Star Driver Education or AK Services to get their learners permit? Is your teen ready to get behind the wheel on their own? We found this great article on Edmunds.com, “10 Things Teens Should Know About Cars and Driving” and we wanted to share it with you and your teen driver.

When a teenager gets a driver license, it signifies freedom and the lure of the open road. But with this newfound freedom comes a host of new situations and possible problems that most teen drivers have never encountered before. It's a good idea to review these scenarios with new drivers in your family, and discuss how to handle them before they happen for real.
From traffic stops to road rage, here's a primer on what you need to tell teen drivers as they take to the roads.

Putting your teen behind the wheel can be both a proud and scary feeling for any parent. Help them be road ready with helpful advice and practice.
1. What to do when you're stopped by a police officer
Safely pull to the side of the road, turn off your car, roll down the window and keep your hands visible. Don't make any sudden moves or argue with the officer. Do your arguing in traffic court.

2. How to deal with a flat tire
Pull completely off the road, even if it means destroying the tire. Call roadside assistance and let that person change the tire. If you have a spare (many cars now only have an inflation kit) and know how to change the tire, make sure you are out of traffic and in plain sight of oncoming traffic before changing it yourself.

 3. What to do when the "check engine" light comes on
If there is any change in the car's performance, any mechanical noises, smoke from the tailpipe or electrical smells, stop the car and call for assistance. If there are none of these symptoms, take the car to a dealer and let them diagnose the problem. However, if you just bought gas, the light might just be indicating that the gas cap is loose. Tighten the cap and continue driving. The light should go off on its own.

Take your teen out for lots of practice, provide them with advice, they'll listen.
4. How to deal with a friend who is about to drive under the influence
Don't get in the car. Do anything not to drive with an intoxicated person, and that includes calling your parents for a lift or paying for a taxi. Your next move is to try to prevent your drunken friend from hurting themselves or someone else.

5. How to drive safely while talking on a cell phone
Most states ban all cell phone use by novice drivers, so be sure you know if these provisions apply where you live. If it's permissible to use a cell, always use a hands-free device so you can keep your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road. Learn how to pair your phone with the car's Bluetoothsystem. Don't even think about texting while driving (no, not even at stoplights).

6. How to get an honest quote for an automotive repair
Search Edmunds.com's Car Maintenance Guide or the Web to get an estimate for how much the repair should cost. Search online for garages with high customer ratings and ask friends for recommended garages. Call the garage and ask for a ballpark estimate and let the garage know you are contacting other places for their best quote. Use your intuition to make the final decision on whom to trust.

7. How to buy a new car
Don't just wander onto a dealership's car lot. Instead, contact the Internet department of several dealerships to get multiple quotes and compare these with Edmunds.com's True Market Value® price for any car you're interested in. Make sure you check incentives and rebates. Follow up with phone calls to the Internet managers of these dealerships to verify the terms of their offers. Finally, ask the dealership to deliver the car to your home or office to avoid the hard sell in the finance and insurance office.

8. What to do after an auto accident
If the car is drivable and there are no serious injuries, turn on your flashers and pull safely out of traffic. Call the police to report the accident. Exchange insurance information with the other driver but refrain from discussing the accident and who is at fault. Make notes and use your cell phone's camera to take pictures of the cars involved.

Slow down when driving in the rain or snow and leave more distance between other drivers.

9. How to drive in rain and snow
Reduce your speed and leave more room between your vehicle and those in front of you. Understand how to handle skids. If possible, practice reacting to skidding in safe conditions, such as a snow-covered empty parking lot. Understand that a car might hydroplane on a rain puddle on the road and learn how to react to driving with reduced traction and visibility.

10. How to avoid road rage situations
Understand the severe consequences to you, your car and your driving record when minor disagreements escalate to life-threatening situations. When someone offends you, take a deep breath and know that your anger will dissolve in minutes. Don't anger other drivers by cutting them off or tailgating. If you've inadvertently angered another driver, don't get drawn into interacting with them. Ignore them or, if necessary, change your route. Finally, repeat this phrase: It's just not worth it.

Be sure to share this information with your young driver and for even more driving tips visit Edmunds.com and our Driving Tips articles.

2012 Ford Focus Titanium Will Stick to Successful Formula

We found an interesting article from Ford in the News that we wanted to share. “Ford Focus Titanium Sticks to Successful Formula” provides readers with a review of the 2012 Ford Focus Titanium and all of the great features that are included. An interesting point of the article was that many customers actually wanted a manual transmission in the car instead of the six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission. Take a look:

Packed with premium content and offering a slew of impressive upgrades, the Ford Focus Titanium has become a notable success by offering customers exactly what they want in an upscale and efficient compact package. So when Ford found out that a significant number of customers actually wanted a manual transmission in the car, the company gave them that, too: After initially offering the Focus Titanium solely with its six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission, Ford soon will bring a five-speed manual gearbox into play.

Although the decision may seem counterintuitive at first, Ford says it’s a recognition of marketplace realities: Many Focus Titanium buyers are coming to the vehicle from upscale rivals that target enthusiasts by combining creature comforts with the kind of dynamic driving experience that’s only available with three pedals, and these shoppers expect the same from the Blue Oval. In meeting this customer demand, Ford will add a new dimension to the Focus Titanium’s already athletic demeanor, which features both a sport-tuned suspension—with standard rear stabilizer bar—and an available Titanium Handling Package that tightens things up even further.
A side-by-side look at both the hatchback and sedan 2012 Ford Focus Titanium
Of course, the Focus Titanium also will continue to offer technologies and luxuries like:
§  The latest generation of SYNC with MyFord Touch
§  A comprehensive Parking Technology Package with rearview camera, ultrasonic sensors and Active Park Assist—capable of helping automatically parallel park the Focus Titanium in as few as 24 seconds
§  Torque Vectoring Control, for improved cornering
§  Heated front seats and dual-zone climate controls
§  Ford’s Intelligent Access system with push-button start
§  Ambient lighting
§  A 10-speaker premium Sony sound system with a subwoofer and 355 watts of power
§  18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels
The five-speed manual transmission is slated to become available with the Ford Focus Titanium later this year.
If you have any questions about the 2012 Ford Focus Titanium or would like to test drive one, contact at us on our website at www.brightonford.com, or stop by our store and would be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Available Ford Features Review and Demonstrations on the 2012 Explorer

BRIGHTON, Mich. Feb. 24, 2012 - We have all seen the Ford commercials advertising all of these crazy technological features. If you’re like most you wonder what these features actually do, if they really work, or if you really need them. We wanted to clear up any mysteries and show you first hand some of the awesome features in action right here in Brighton, not in a commercial on a closed course. To demonstrate these features we took the 2012 Explorer out around busy downtown Brighton.

MyFord Touch With SYNC is an excellent co-pilot
Every great journey starts at the beginning, and in this case, with the push start feature. Apply pressure to the brake and press the ignition button and just like that, your Ford fires right up. AV plugins and USB plugins allow you to connect media devices to your Ford so you can take your entertainment on the road with you to play through your MyFord Touch with SYNC. MyFord Touch and SYNC do much more than keep you entertained, it’s a virtual co-pilot that will help you navigate, make and take phone calls, and even can give you a vehicle health report for your Ford.

Taking your Ford on an adventure has never been easier with the Terrain Management System. Turn the dial to match the road conditions and you’ll have much better traction control for your off road expeditions and drives on the snowy and muddy Livingston County back roads. With full rear climate control, including head and feet directional settings and 110-volt outlet your back seat passengers can plug in portable DVD players, phone and game chargers, and much more so they can stay entertained while you stay focused on the road.

We have demonstrated these amazing features for you here in this video:

Another fantastic feature available on many Fords is the rear view camera, which displays what’s behind you on the MyFord Touch display. The guidelines show you an outline of that’s in between your tires, your distance away from objects, and a directional guideline that shows you exactly where your heading. The rear view camera preludes possibly the best feature on many new Fords, the Active Park Assist.

Just press the button and your Ford will parallel park itself, its that easy!
The Active Park Assist feature takes control and flawlessly parallel parks your Ford for you, perfect for parallel parking on the busy streets of downtown Brighton when you are going out to eat at Lou and Carl’s or Bagger Dave’s or to shop at Impulse. Here’s how it works: You press the Park Assist Button to engage the Park Assist mode. Your Ford then scans the right side of the road for a break between cars to locate a fitting parking spot. Once you’re asked to stop and put it in reverse and your Ford will take it from there, keep in mind you still control the speed and the shifting. Don’t be afraid, take your hands off the wheel (keep a foot on the brake) and watch in astonishment as your Ford seamlessly maneuvers the parking task many drivers fear more than anything. Park Assist is available on the 2012 and 2013 Explorer, 2012 Escape, 2012 Flex, and 2012 Focus.

Come into Brighton Ford for a test drive and experience these amazing features for yourself.

The Ford Fusion Front Row is Set for the Daytona 500

Edwards pulls back into the pit after winning the pole
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. Feb. 22, 2012 – This past Sunday at Daytona International Speedway, Roush Fenway Racing drivers Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle brought lots of attention to the team and to the new Ford Fusion racecar. The Fusion blazed around the track during the pole qualifying run. Edwards flew through his first Daytona 500 pole lap in the NASCAR Fusion with a lap speed of 194.738 miles per hour! This was the fastest pole speed for the Daytona 500 since 1999. Biffle cruised in with the second fastest lap time, also sporting the Fusion, with an incredible 194.087 lap speed. The pair of Ford Fusions will be sitting in the front row at the starting line as they wait for the flag to be waved.

Edwards and Biffle’s run ended a four-year Chevy pole streak at the Daytona 500. In the unique qualifying procedure for the 500, only the two fastest drivers in time trials lock in positions on the starting grid. The rest of the 43-car field will be filled by the results of Thursday’s twin 150-mile qualifying races, time-trial speeds and provisionals. Winning the pole doesn’t guarantee a win at the big race but it was a positive feat that has the drivers amped up and ready for the first, and most important race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup season.

The pair of Fusions will sit side by side in the front row at this weekends Daytona 500
At Brighton Ford, we want to wish Edwards and Biffle good luck at the Daytona 500 this weekend! Drive fast, drive safe, and bring home the “W” for Ford!

The Ford F-150 – Tough Enough For Texas

HUSTON, Texas, Feb. 21, 2012 - We’ve all heard the saying “Built Ford Tough” what seems like a million times. To make that statement more than a catchphrase, Ford Motor Company really goes out and proves itself time and time again. This time, Ford sent the F-150 down to Texas this past October to wrangle with 45 other entrants for the Texas Truck Rodeo. The F-150 had no trouble snagging the overall “Truck of Texas” award. The F-150 was easily a top contender with Best-in-Class Towing and Best-in-Class Payload backed with 3.7L V6 (or a 3.5L V6 with EcoBoost for enhanced fuel economy), a 5.0L V8, or the whopping 6.2LV8 with 411 horsepower and 434 ft-lbs of torque.

With Best-In-Class Towing and Payload the F-150 will haul whatever you need, wherever you need it
Ford received the “Texas-size” trophy (nearly three feet tall!) at the Huston Auto Show by the Texas Rodeo’s sponsor, the Texas Auto Writers Association. Doug Scott, Ford Truck Group Marketing Manager said, “This award means a lot to us, and we thank the Texas Auto Writers Association for validating what our customers have been telling us about our Built Ford Tough F-150. We appreciate their recognition of the quality of our trucks.”

Ford didn’t stop there, the Ford team picked up seven other honors by the TAWA including:

  • Truck Line of Texas: Ford Motor Company
  • CUV of Texas: 2012 Ford Edge
  • Heavy-Duty Pickup Truck: 2012 Ford F-250 King Ranch Super Duty
  • Luxury Pickup Truck: 2012 Ford F-150 Platinum EcoBoost
  • Full-Size Pickup Truck: 2012 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor
  • Mid-Size CUV: 2012 Ford Edge Limited
  • Outstanding Feature: Ford EcoBoost Engine Technology
