Brighton Ford: Finding New Ways to Give Back

Check out this awesome write-up from the Greater Brighton Area Chamber of Commerce on our involvement in the community:

While most companies give back, Brighton Ford takes that commitment to a whole new level. As co-owner Todd Spitler tells it, even after winning a Ford Motor Company award for philanthropy in 2009, they saw they could do more. “We realized we had the resources to help connect the dots between organizations and raise awareness of the great work they do in our community. Today, we’re part of more than 50 local organizations, and our involvement goes beyond giving money to real ‘boots on the ground’ work, like serving on boards, creating Facebook campaigns, and mentoring local students.”

An example of Brighton Ford’s commitment to the community is visible to anyone who drives the area’s roads: a billboard campaign highlighting local organizations that otherwise couldn’t afford a billboard. “The work of organizations like LACASA, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and the Livingston County Salvation Army directly benefits our community. We’re happy to use our resources to help them get the word out,” says Todd.

Another example of Brighton Ford’s “boots on the ground” approach is its service department’s apprenticeship program. Sixteen-year-olds at Brighton and Pinckney High Schools are eligible for the program, which places them in the dealership’s quick service department, teaches them in-demand skills, and provides them with mentors. Many of these students go on to Ford’s ASSET program, eventually becoming certified service techs working in the community. “We’ve built our dealership from the ground up,” says Todd, “and we’re proud to be part of building a stronger community for everyone.”
