In April, sales were up over 70 percent for the Ford Edge, and the Ford F-150 was turning over after just 20 days on dealer lots while the Escape and Explorer remained in very tight supply. The demand for Ford Motor Company's trucks and utility vehicles continues to trend upward and this is the third straight year the automative dealer has had to keep plants open during the summer shutdown in order to meet the strong demand. Assembly plants being shut down include Chicago, Dearborn Truck, Kansas City, Louisville and Oakville. The power-train and stamping plants taking a reduced summer shutdown this year also include: Livonia Transmission; Rawsonville Transmission; Sharonville Transmission; Sterling Axle; Buffalo Stamping; Chicago Stamping; Dearborn Consolidated; Kansas City Stamping and Woodhaven Stamping.
Due to such a high demand for trucks and utility vehicles, Ford Motor Company is working overtime to meet demand this summer. Over the past few years, Ford has invested $6.2 billion and added more than 15,000 jobs in stateside facilities to help meet consumer demand for its newest products. You can bet that we'll keep the great trucks, utilities, crossovers and cars coming all summer long here at Brighton Ford!
