Tips for the Perfect Summer Road Trip

Tips for the Perfect Summer Road Trip
BRIGHTON, Mich - The weather has finally warmed up, the kids are about to get out of school and now is the time to start planning your summer getaway. We can help make your vacation worry-free with these Tips for the Perfect Summer Road Trip! Some advice may seem like common sense, however, as vacation approaches we all can become flustered and tend to disregard the obvious. So, whether you are headed out with friends or the whole family, all of these tips are useful and will definitely ensure a fabulous vacation.

1. Give Your Car a Check-Up
Before you head out on the road, bring your car into Brighton Ford! We will give your car a nice check-up -oil change, tire rotation, change the wiper blades, you name it- to be sure your vehicle is in mint condition for your trip! We know, taking your car in isn't the greatest joy in life, but it is better to be safe than sorry if you plan on doing a lot of driving!

2. Take a Break
Depending on how far your final destination is, remember to schedule in some pit stops. Not only is this good if you are traveling with small children, but it is also good for you to stretch your legs and restore some energy. The road will still be there, so don't forget to take care of your passengers and yourself.

3. Hit Up the App Store
Prior to your departure, download some helpful apps on your smartphone! There is an app for just about anything! From iGasUp helping you find the cheapest gas to Roadside America leading you to the best tourist locations throughout your route. Take the time to research some apps that you think would benefit your vacation, whether it is games to play in the car or a great music station. A few we suggest are: GasBuddy, License Plate Travel Game, Yelp, Trapster, Priceline Negotiator and Spotify.

4. Say No to the Junk Food
It is no secret that most convenient stores and restaurants right off of the freeway are packed with unhealthy meal and snack options. Dodge the junk food, which can leave you feeling sluggish and tired, and pack your own cooler with your favorite snacks! Nuts, pretzels, yogurt, cut up fruit and veggies and granola bars are all easy, healthy options to take along with you.

5. Say it with us, RELAX!
This is a VACATION! This is the time to relax and rejuvenate. Don't rush the drive if you don't have to, don't stress over unexpected traffic and remember ENJOY yourselves!
