Here’s a great tip for everyone that gets in different vehicles everyday and needs to pump gas.  Every vehicle has an arrow that indicates what side the gas cap is on, so you will know what side you need to fill up on without getting out and looking for it.  This will save time and embarrassment from pulling up to fill your gas tank and realizing you’re on the wrong side…not to mention having to maneuver around a busy gas station to get to another pump so you can fill-up.

Pet Of The Week: Misty

I am Misty, a SUPER SWEET, gentle, black/brown short hair tabby with gorgeous aqua green eyes born in August 2006 and FRONT DECLAWED. I lived in a very active home with young children, another cat, and a dog and was doing well until I became very stressed when my best feline friend passed away and I could not adjust to living with the dog. My family says I am a sweet, well behaved girl who is very affectionate, always used my litter box, and just need to find a quiet home where I can relax and feel loved.

Meet Our Brighton Ford Family: Alyssa Jones

Alyssa is our Cashier and has been part of the Brighton Ford family for just over two years.  She enjoys her job because of her friendly co-workers, amazing customers and her favorite part of her job is making her customers happy!  Alyssa’s dream car is a 2016 Edge because of the style and technology in Ford’s mid-sized crossover.  She is a huge Tiger’s fan and loves listening to Rascal Flatts and other country music while enjoying the summer sun.  Alyssa would love to visit Thailand on vacation so that she could visit some of the foreign exchange students that lived with her during high school.  You can’t miss Alyssa’s big smile at the cashier’s desk, so be sure to smile back at her when you are checking out of our Parts and Service Departments.

Brighton Ford At The Meals on Wheels Volunteer Appreciation Dinner

Brighton Ford was honored to be a part of the Meals on Wheels (MoW) Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.  We have partnered with Meals on Wheels of Livingston and Western Oakland County and are helping with their social media management, video production and some special digital campaigns.  The reason Brighton Ford continues to help this awesome non-profit organization is because we care about our community and Meals on Wheels helps the, often times forgotten, homebound seniors in the community that we serve.

MoW’s annual thank you dinner for their volunteers was a huge success!  This year’s pirate theme made it fun for everyone and the food prepared by Meals on Wheels Chef Ed Carrico’ was very delicious.  The turkey, the stuffing, potatoes and dessert truly made it a Thanksgiving feast.  Many of MoW’s volunteers went home with great prizes in the raffle for all and the floor mat and solar powered light were given to every guest at the dinner.  A huge thank you to Mystic Creek Banquet Center for hosting and a great all around night!  Also, thank you to Reverend Doug McMunn from Milford United Methodist Church for his blessing!  The entertainment of the Barbershop Quartet, the Livingston Lamplighters “Sharp Attack”, made for a very entertaining night. 

Thank you to each and every volunteer for Meals on Wheels, whether you volunteered once during the year or 4 days a week, MoW’s could never do what they do without your help!  They are delivering 1,500 meals a day and making a huge difference in our community with pet and child programs as well.  MoW’s is looking forward to another great year of serving the homebound seniors of Livingston and Western Oakland County!

Ford Tech Creates Water Out of Thin Air

Ford doesn’t have a car yet that can run on water, but it does have one with running water.

A powertrain engineer working for the automaker has developed a system that uses the condensation from an automobile’s air conditioner to provide drinkable water.

Doug Martin got the idea for On-The-Go H20 when he drove by a billboard in Lima, Peru, fitted with similar technology that was extracting over 25 gallons of water from the air every day. It made him realize that a lot of potentially potable water generated by automobiles was being dumped on the road and wasted, when it could be put toward a good use.

It’s a simple concept optimized for this automotive application with a collector positioned near the air conditioner’s condenser that channels the fluid into a reservoir. From there, it’s filtered and pumped to a faucet located either in the cabin -- as it is in one demonstration vehicle Martin’s team put together – or on the outside of the vehicle.

The current system supplies about 24 ounces of water per hour from the atmosphere, but can also be used to purify dirty water from other sources -- even rain collected in channels on the roof. While the concept features a passive 1.2 micron filtration system, Martin is exploring the incorporation of a distiller powered by other powertrain heat sources, as well as ultraviolet light.

Ford sees it as a boon to dry regions and underdeveloped areas where millions of people don’t have regular access to clean water. It could also be offered as a feature on adventure vehicles, or simply as a convenience for road trips.
