Life-Size LEGO replica of the "1964½" Ford Mustang V8 Coupe
BrickPony, a life-size LEGO® replica of the "1964½" Ford Mustang V8 coupe, will go on permanent display outside the Ford Driving School attraction at LEGOLAND® Florida Resort in Winter Haven, Fla.
Made out of 194,900 LEGO and DUPLO® bricks, the giant model took approximately 1,200 hours to assemble by a team of veteran Master Builders at LEGO Systems, Inc., in Enfield, Conn.
BrickPony measures more than 15 feet long, nearly 6 feet wide and more than 4 feet tall. It weighs 1,712 pounds, of which 960 pounds are LEGO bricks and 752 pounds is its aluminum chassis.
A few surprises were added under its hood, including a virtual horn and the sounds of a real Mustang engine — a first for a life-size LEGO vehicle — plus working headlights and taillights.

Look Out World, the Ford Mustang is Coming Through!
BRIGHTON, Mich. - Look out world, the Ford Mustang is coming through! For the first time in its 50-year history, the iconic pony car will be making its way overseas for a whole new market of consumers to enjoy. Ford Motor Company will even be exporting models with right-hand-drive configurations to serve more than 25 markets around the world, including the United Kingdom, Australia, and South Africa.
In order for the Ford Mustang to make its journey overseas, it first needs to go through some thorough preparation to ensure that the pony car is in compliance with the vehicle standards in the other countries. First, all Mustangs undergo specific engineering work at the plant, then receive the finishing touches at their port's homologation center. During this time the Mustang will also receive all of the necessary customs documentation and tracking so that Ford will be able to track its progress and time of delivery. Certain Ford vehicles are also given an underbody coating and documents in the exported country's language.
With the export of the Ford Mustang comes a handful of new jobs for workers in the United States! Ford Motor Company was able to hire 3,000 employees at the Flat Rock Assembly Plant in Michigan. Ford was also able to add an additional 100 jobs at the Port of Portland to help with all of the exports that are heading to the Asia Pacific as we speak!

OPI Reveals Ford Mustang Nail Lacquer Collection
BRIGHTON, Mich - A little over a month ago, OPI and Ford Motor Company announced that they would be joining forces in light of the 50th Mustang Anniversary. Back in March details were very vague, but finally OPI Reveals the Ford Mustang Nail Lacquer Collection. Six eye-catching Mustang-inspired colors will be hitting stores in the U.S. this July!
Each of the latest hues from OPI carry the essence of the Ford Mustang, telling a story through color. Automobiles are a form of style and personal expression for women, as is their nail lacquer. OPI is proud to bring women this Mustang-influenced line, inviting them to show their personal style and embrace the 50 years of Mustang greatness. OPI Reveals the Ford Mustang Nail Lacquer Collection, debuting these six new colors: Race Red, 50 Years of Style, Queen of the Road, Girls Love Ponies, Angel with a Leadfoot and The Sky's My Limit. Ford Mustang Performs Real Stunts in the Need for Speed Movie
BRIGHTON, Mich - Scott Waugh, director of the film "Need for Speed", took a genuine approach when it came to filming his latest movie. The Ford Mustang Performs Real Stunts in the Need for Speed Movie rather than giving computer-generated images all the credit. Waugh was a former stuntman himself and recognizes how an understanding of the law of physics plays a huge part in telling the story on camera. When physics are not parallel with the characters and storyline, it can take away from a film's authenticity.
Computer-generated images are great for superhero, science fiction or fantasy films, but Scott Waugh thought that utilizing the resources available to him would be much more effective. Seven modified 2014 Ford Mustangs were used for filming and were strategically set up to ensure the most safety while shooting. The crew used more than 40 different digital cameras to capture images of the 2014 Ford Mustang to successfully convince the audience the actors were really driving. For on-the-road sequences, a Supercharged 2013 Mustang GT was used as a camera car to capture close-in action shots to give viewers the true feeling of intense speed.
When it came to really getting behind the wheel, all of the actors were required to go through an intensive training at Willow Springs International Motorsports Park in California. There they learned how to handle the Mustang when drifting around corners and how to hit exact marks when driving. Of course, professional stunt drivers handled the complex shots, one even by the name of Vaughn Gittin Jr. Gittin was a champion drifter and could easily fling the all-new 2015 Mustang and place it exactly where Scott Waugh wanted it.
The time is here and you can finally see the Ford Mustang Perform Real Stunts in the Need for Speed Movie in theaters NOW!

Ford Recognizes Women Behind 2015 Mustang
BRIGHTON, Mich - In celebration of International Women's Day on March 8th and National Women's History Month, Ford Recognizes Women Behind the 2015 Mustang. Typically, people tend to think masculine and sporty when asked to describe the Mustang. Ironically, some of the key roles in Mustang history have been filled by women! Ford Motor Company is taking this opportunity to celebrate these women, their successes, and their massive contribution to the iconic pony car over the last 50 years.
Did you know the very first Mustang in America was purchased by a woman? That's right! On April 15, 1964, two days before the car even went on sale, 22-year-old Gail Brown purchased her very own Mustang. Since then, more and more women have been aiding in Mustang, and Ford, success by holding key positions within the company. Fulfilling roles in everything from engineering to marketing, these ladies have helped continue to make the Mustang legacy a household name. Now, let's learn about a few of the gals!
Marcy Fisher - Vehicle Line Director
Marcy oversees every detail in the all-new Ford Mustang process as it comes to together. From the initial planning until it hits the showroom, Marcy is there. In addition to her role in the Mustang development, she also oversees the Ford Explorer, Taurus, Police Interceptor, Flex and Escape development. Marcy is very passionate about her career and sharing her knowledge with others. She is a mentor in the manufacturing leadership program and has been on the 100 Leading Women in the Automotive Industry list two times!
Michele Lubin Henney - Vehicle Integration Supervisor
When you sit down in that 2015 Ford Mustang next fall, remember to thank Michele. Her role is to ensure that the customer experience is top-notch. Michele is responsible for the integration of everything from how the car sounds, to how it feels when it drives, the fuel economy, driver and passenger comfort, and so on. She gives a different perspective from the men on the team, seeing different elements that have helped create the most refined driving experience in Ford history. Michele is so proud to be apart of this team. She shares the same passion for the Mustang as her fellow Ford co- and wants to take customer's personal car connection to the next level.
Susan Lampinen - Chief Color and Materials Designer
A car that is "designed to be designed by you" requires a variety of diverse colors, packages and special editions so that each vehicle can be unique for the customer. For the last ten years, Susan has guided this process by selecting those iconic paint colors and interior materials for the Mustang. Lampinen isn't afraid to take some risk with the Mustang. She is always looking for authentic, expressive materials that denote performance, sportiness and power. Her favorite Mustang color throughout the years? None other than the savvy, Race Red.
Melanie Banker - U.S. Marketing Manager
Melanie is the marketing hub for the United States, bringing the car to the customers in the marketplace and then monitoring its performance. She takes part in both research and development as well as the consumer marketing process. Melanie must take many factors into account when it comes to the different customer groups. Men and women use the vehicle and its features differently, so it is important that all of these consumers be kept in mind when making vehicle decisions. Banker loves the dedication at Ford. Everyone loves Mustang and Ford knows how important it is to continue to bring that passion to Mustang fans with every product they make.
Happy International Women's Day and Women's History Month! Here's to all of you ladies who bring so much accomplishment and success to Ford Motor Company!
Ladies, celebrate YOU at Brighton Ford with a brand-new Ford vehicle. We have a huge variety of Ford cars, trucks, SUVs and crossovers at our dealership! BRIGHTON, Mich. - As DreamWorks announced that the 2014 Ford Mustang will be starring in their upcoming movie 'Need for Speed', it makes one reflect on the Mustang's long list of movie appearances. As we reflect on a few of the bigger cameos, try not to become star-struck by the Ford Mustang, star of 3,000 movies and counting!
Goldfinger
The Mustang's first ever screen appearance was in the 1964 "Goldfinger". Sadly, the car is actually destroyed in the movie, as it is chased by James Bond driving an Aston Martin DB5. As Bond catches up to the vehicle, he slashes the Mustang's tires and destroys the body panels.
Bullitt
In the 1968 movie, "Bullitt", Steve McQueen's character drives a Highland Green 1968 Mustang GT 390 Fastback. It's a great moment in action movie history, and one of the Mustang's most brilliant cameos, as it is considered to be one of the greatest car chases ever caught on film.
Gone in Sixty Seconds
In this 1974 action flick, a 1973 Mustang Mach I is the main character's vehicle of choice. This Mustang even does its own stunts as it proceeds to destroy 93 cars during a 40 minute long car chase. While it certainly wasn't pretty by the end of the scene, it definitely proved to be Built Ford Tough!
I Am Legend
In 2007, the Mustang has a brief cameo in "I Am Legend". Will Smith's character drives a red Shelby Mustang GT500 through the deserted streets of New York City after an airborne sickness has turned everyone into zombies. This scene is creepy yet cool, and we applaud Smith for sticking with the Mustang after the world ends.
After 3,000 movies and counting, the Ford Mustang has proven itself to have all the qualities of a true movie star. If you want to take home your own part of cinema magic history, check out our 2013 Ford Mustang Brochure! Sneak Peek: 2015 Ford Mustang Spotted
BRIGHTON, Mich. - Shortly after celebrating the 49th anniversary of the Ford Mustang, the 2015 Ford Mustang was spotted on the streets, giving us a sneak peak as to what the next generation will look like. Although it was heavily disguised, it gives Mustang lovers a hint at what is to come, allowing us to address rumors of what changes will take place.
The first noticeable change that's apparent on the spotted 2015 Ford Mustang is that the car is a lot smaller than the Mustangs of the past. Riding lower to the ground, this Mustang's frame appears to be much smaller. The headlights also seem to be shaped differently, though the grill is too covered to make any definite observations.
When it comes to power, the next generation Mustang will be equipped with a base 3.7-liter V-6 engine and the 2015 Mustang GT will receive an upgraded 5.0-liter V-8. The 2015 Ford Mustang is code-named S550, and is even expected to have a turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost engine that will be available in Europe. Rumors are swirling that the EcoBoost engine may even be offered in the U.S. - making the car less powerful but greener - but nothing has been officially released saying so.
Can't wait for the release of the 2015 Ford Mustang? Check out our 2013 Ford Mustang Brochure, and stop in at our Pinckney Area Ford Dealership where we can help you save money with Ford Mustang Rebates and Ford Mustang X-Plan Pricing.

Ford Mustang's 49th Anniversary
BRIGHTON, Mich.- Today, April 17th, was a great day in history. It was on today's date in 1974 that the original Ford Mustang pony car made its debut to the public! With very unusual styling for its day, Ford's Product Planning Manager knew the new vehicle was going to be a hit. But no one could have guessed just how popular the Ford Mustang would become.
With an original price of just $2,368, dealers were immediately flooded with requests for the sleek new vehicle. Initially, Ford Motor Company only forecasted about 100,000 sales annually. But that estimate was quickly blown away, when 22,000 Mustang orders were placed on the first day alone! Encouraging the already impressive sales was the pony car's appearance on the race track as the pace car for the 1964 Indianapolis 500. In just 12 months, sales of the new Ford Mustang skyrocketed to 417,000, and broke one million vehicles sold in the second year!
Today we celebrate the launch of that very iconic muscle car, the one and only Ford Mustang. As Mustang fans across the world look forward to next year and the debut of the 50th anniversary 'Stang, today we take a look back. Over the years the pony car has undergone many changes minor and massive, but one thing holds true, it is still America's greatest muscle car.

2014 Ford Mustang New Appearance Packages
BRIGHTON, Mich.- With all the buzz surrounding next year's 50th anniversary 2015 Ford Mustang, the changes for 2014 have remained off the radar. As you'd probably expect, no major changes are planned for the 2014 Ford Mustang since the next generation pony should bring about a completely new look. But, for this year we will see 2014 Ford Mustang New Appearance Packages and colors.
The major update that we will see for 2014 is the discontinuation of the Mustang Boss 302 which also removes the School Bus Yellow color from the 'Stang's color palette. As far as other color changes for the 2014 Ford Mustang, Oxford White will replace the current Performance White, and Candy Red Metallic will be replaced by Ruby Red Metallic.
For changes in Appearance Package options the 2014 Mustang get rid of the Exterior Appearance Package on V6 models, and will instead add the FP6 Appearance Package on base Mustang V6s and the FP8 Appearance Package on base Mustang GTs. Retailing for $795, the new FP6 package will include black-painted mirror caps, a black decklid spoiler, body color quarter window louvers, and 18-inch black multi-spoke aluminum wheels. A little more expensive, the FP8 package retails for $995, but includes all the FP6 goodies, and replaces the wheels with 19-inch machined-aluminum wheels with black accents.
Pricing for the 2014 Ford Mustang remains essentially unchanged, with the Base V6 coupe still at $22,995 and the Mustang GT still retailing for $31,545. The 2014 Shelby GT500 does see a slight increase of $450 to $55,445 for the coupe model. For more information take a look at the current Ford Mustang Brochure. A Little Bit of Mustang History:
The first Ford Mustang premiered at the New York World Fair on April 17th in 1964 for only $2,368. This price was both affordable and a great deal even for the time, but Ford had no idea that this vehicle would be such a hit. In the first day only, 22,000 Mustangs were ordered. Even the children’s pedal-powered Mustangs were a success having sold 93,000 during the holiday season. An interesting fact about the 1971 Mustang is that it is longer than any other Mustang by almost a foot and is up to 600 pounds heavier than the original Mustangs.
About Matt Renko:
Matt Renko is from Howell, Michigan but currently lives in Brighton, Michigan with his family. He is a salesman for Brighton Ford and loves his work but he has a variety of interests outside of cars too. Renko plays golf and ice hockey but also enjoys playing, writing and producing music (including drumming), as well as skiing and snowmobiling. His band “Thank You Thing” is a source of enjoyment and pride for Matt so you should check out his band when you get the chance!

10 Tips to Help Extend The Life of Your Car
Taking care of your car or truck is the only way to ensure that it lives a long life. Bringing it in to Brighton Ford for an inspection is one of the easiest ways to make sure everything's in order, but we've compiled a list of 10 simple things you can do yourself to prolong the life of your vehicle.
Break it in like they tell you
First thing’s first. If you’re driving a new car BE PATIENT during the break-in period! I know it’s hard not to step on it and see what your new ride’s got, but you’ll be thankful you waited later on. Think of it like an extra-long first date -- take it easy.
Don’t fill up if the tanker’s there
Okay, so it this one might sound a little backward to some of you. After all, if the tanker’s there you’re getting the fresh stuff, right? Not necessarily. When the tanker is filling the underground tanks at your local gas station there’s a pretty good chance the pour is stirring up all sorts of nasty sediment, which could end up in your car and cause serious damage. Come back another day or go somewhere else.
Pay for good insurance
Finding the cheapest deal out there isn’t always the best way to go. It might good for your bank account on the short term, but it probably won’t be good for your car. When you’re searching for insurance find and insurer that will pay for OEM parts and guarantee the work that they authorize.
Fix bad weather-stripping
If your doors or windows are letting rainwater or melting snow seep into your car, take a look at it. Many times you’ll be able to repair it with adhesives or foam rods available from local auto parts stores. If you can’t fix it don’t use generic products, they won’t last and you will just be wasting money. Matching weather-stripping can be ordered to fit your car exactly and it’s the best way to protect your interior.
Fix small scratches and nicks, ASAP
Sure, they’re not an eye sore now, but if you try to put touch up paint on spot that has already started to rust you won’t have much luck. If you do it right away you’ll prevent it from rusting at all and your car will stay looking good longer. Touch up paint is relatively cheap, so its not a bad idea to keep some on hand.
Tape that cracked taillight
A crack in your taillight or headlight really isn’t a big deal, but it can allow water to get inside, and that could cause serious problems. Pick up a roll of the red or clear tape designed specifically for this and you could save yourself a bundle.
Wash in winter
You’re not the only who doesn’t wash your car in the winter, but it really isn’t the best way to go. The problem is washing is even more important in winter than any other time. Sand, slush and ice mixed with salt from the road is exactly what you need to make your car rust. Be sure to keep the undercarriage and other areas prone to rust as clean as possible during the winter.
Buy a fender cover
Simple maintenance and fixes can be an entertaining project for a summer afternoon, but things can turn bad quickly if your dropping wrenches on that freshly shined paint job. A fender cover drapes over the side of your car and provides a safe place to rest tools while also protecting the paint from your belt buckle as you lean into the engine compartment.
Rotate your tires
This one is pretty basic and definitely worth doing every 6,000 to 7,500 miles. Rotating your tires will spread tire wear evenly and is a very necessary way to make sure you get the maximum life out of them before buying a new set. Consult your Owners Manual for the correct rotation pattern.
Run your AC in the winter
What!? Yea, I know. It sounds crazy, but you’ll be thankful you did it when summer rolls around. Turning the system on a few times during the colder months will help prevent moving parts of the compressor from seizing up. The circulating refrigerant will also keep seals in good shape.
If you have any questions about car or truck maintenance please feel free to Contact Us or Schedule an Appointment. We would be happy to help in any way we can.

2012 Ford Mustang - 'Horsing' Around Brighton, MI
BRIGHTON, Mich. April 27, 2012 - We
took the 2012
Ford Mustang out for a review drive around Brighton, MI. This 2012 Mustang
featured a 305 HP 3.7L V6 Engine capable of 280 ft.-lbs. of torque - plenty of
power for the pony car. We popped the
hood and turned the engine on so we can hear it give out a nice roar. The
handling on the Mustang was exceptionally smooth. Every time we took a turn we
envisioned ourselves at the Michigan
International Speedway in front of a sold out crowd, but we had never even
came close to breaking the speed limit.
The interior was everything you'd want in your
Mustang, very comfortable driver and passenger bucket seats with a leather bench
seat in the rear. The in dash CD player with SYNC allowed us to access our
music without taking our hands off the wheel and keeping our focus on the road.
SIRIUS radio also provided us with endless listening possibilities, again, all
accessible through SYNC. We undid the latches and dropped the top to show off
the classic convertible look of the 2012 Ford Mustang.
The 2012 Ford Mustang still delivers
that exhilarating feeling that it has been know give for the last 48 years.
Don't just take our word for it, come and test-drive a New
Ford Mustang for yourself today! If you have any questions about the Ford
Mustang or any other questions for that matter, please, Contact Us today!
