2015 Ford Super Duty Model Gets Beefy

2015 Ford Super Duty Model Gets Beefy
BRIGHTON, Mich. - Ford Motor Co. has announced that they will be upgrading its Super Duty pickups, with one specific F-series truck in mind - the F-450 truck. The 2015 Ford F-450 will be strengthened and upgraded for the 2015 model year and will be showed off at the State Fair of Texas this week.

The 2015 Ford F-450 Super Duty model gets beefy with a more powerful engine, strengthened frame, suspension and new commercial grade tires. All of these upgrades will allow for increased towing capabilities. Although the exact towing capacity figures aren't available yet, Ford has confirmed that it will be more than the current model which pulls 24,700 pounds.

The more powerful engine will be a second-generation 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbocharged diesel engine. The larger turbocharger on the vehicle will let in more airflow to the new engine, allowing it to produce more power than the 400-hp, 800 lb-ft of torque that the current engine produces. Specific horsepower and torque figures are pending, as Ford is still doing extensive testing on these attributes. (Side note: this engine will be made available on the F-250, 350 and 450 pickup models)

The 2015 Ford Super Duty Model gets beefy with more powerful attributes and a frame that has been built tougher. While this vehicle won't be available to purchase until sometime next year, we do have a great selection of powerful New Ford Trucks currently on our lot. If you'd like to take one for a test drive, or talk about purchasing a Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle instead, we're more than happy to help! So stop by and see us today!

Ford Installs 500,000th 6.7-Liter V8 Turbocharged Diesel Engine

Ford Installs 500,000th 6.7-Liter V8 Turbocharged Diesel Engine
BRIGHTON, Mich. - Ford Motor Company has reached another milestone, having just installed the 500,000th 6.7-liter V8 Turbocharged Diesel Engine. The record hitting engine was installed into a new 2014 Ford Super Duty F-350 Lariat at a Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville.

This milestone is significant simply because the engine was only just introduced in 2011, making the engine still fairly new to the market. It was designed to be an engine that would be able to combine performance, towing capability, and fuel economy - and it has done exactly what it was made to do. The 6.7-liter V8 diesel engine produces 400 hp and 800 lb.-ft. of torque. It also has the ability to tow up to 24,700 pounds in the F-450 pickup, and 26,600 pounds in the F-550 chassis cab.

Ford has installed the 500,000th 6.7-Liter V8 Turbocharged Diesel engine, meaning that it's a popular engine - for a reason! Although there are multiple benefits to having this amazing engine, a few are:

  • This engine is compatible up to B20 biodiesel. This means that you have greener fueling options of up to 20 percent biodiesel and 80 percent petroleum diesel.
  • The way the engine is built allows for it to be easily worked on. This reduces downtime since all major engine components are easily accessible.
  • The engine is made of compacted graphite iron - a material that is stronger than cast iron. It's also optimized to reduce weight but keep the maximum strength. This allows the engine to meet the demands of the higher hp and torque.
There are so many great benefits to buying a 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 Turbocharged Diesel engine. If you'd like to discuss all the details and find out which vehicles come standard with this engine, stop by our dealership today! We have a great selection of New Ford Trucks that you're going to love!

If you're not in the market for a truck, our helpful and knowledgeable sales staff will be more than happy to help you with anything from purchasing a New Ford Car to assisting with Used Car Loans. 3 Reasons the 2013 Ford Edge is a Smart Buy

BRIGHTON, Mich. - If you haven't checked out the 2013 Ford Edge yet, we have to say you're missing out. This vehicle stands apart from other crossover SUV's and is a vehicle worth checking out, if you haven't already. Since we are a little biased when it comes to the best crossover (we vote Ford, all the way), we've put together 3 reasons why the 2013 Ford Edge is a smart buy.

1. The Ford Edge has multiple engine options - three to be exact. The first is a 4-cylinder option with EcoBoost technology that produces 240 hp and gets up to 30 mpg on the highway. The second and third are V6 engine options (a 3.5-liter and a 3.7-liter) that have the ability to tow up to 3,500 lbs. So not only is the Edge fuel efficient, it's extremely capable too!

2. It's more stylish and spacious than most. The Ford Edge has beautiful interior details - everything from high quality wood grain accents and ambient lighting to duel information screens, and more. Plus, it offers up to 69 cubit feet of cargo room when the seats are folded down. That's quite a bit of space! If you don't need the space for cargo, the Edge has seating for up to five passengers.

3. It's comfortable and safe. When it comes to purchasing your vehicle, safety is always a huge priority. With the 2013 Ford Edge, you get antilock disc brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. If you have a young driver, the Ford Edge also gives you the ability to limit speed and sound volume settings - something your teens won't be happy about, but will offer you peace of mind! As for comfort, the seats are supportive and comforting, while the drive is smooth and quiet. What more could you ask for?

We've given you 3 reasons why the 2013 Ford Edge is a smart buy, but it eventually comes down to what works best for your lifestyle and needs. If you'd like to go over your options, or just discuss what features you're looking for in a vehicle, stop by and see us! We are more than happy to help you find a vehicle you'll love - no matter if it's a New Ford Car, New Ford Truck or a Certified Pre-Owned Car For Sale. We're here to help!

Sneak Peek: 2016 Ford Shelby Mustang GT350
BRIGHTON, Mich. - Detroit residents were given a sneak peek of the 2016 Ford Shelby Mustang GT350 this week, as the pony car was spotted driving around the motor city. This sighting helps fuel the rumors that a Shelby GT350 or a Cobra-badged model could replace the current Shelby GT500 model.
Sneak Peek: 2015 Ford Shelby Mustang GT350
Not much is known about this vehicle just yet, however the mesh panels and camouflage suggests that the hood scoop and front fender vents aren't just for looks - they are necessary for the pony car to function. The large cross-drilled rotors behind larger wheels are unique to the Ford Shelby Mustang GT350, as well as the prototype sports quad exhaust tips which "make a fantastic rumble."
Sneak Peek: 2015 Ford Shelby Mustang GT350
The engine choice isn't known yet, but rumors suggest that a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine will be the option that Ford sticks with.

Sneak Peek: 2015 Ford C-Max Facelift
BRIGHTON, Mich. - The Ford C-Max is a vehicle that has been on the market for a few years, but in that span of time, it's made quite the splash. Expected to arrive sometime next year, not much is known yet about the 2015 Ford C-Max. However, the updated model clearly has a new face - a beautiful one. The new front fascia with the fusion-inspired grille is on display, while the restyled headlights and rear end changes that were promised are not on this prototype. However, these other modifications are expected to be on the finished version.

The 2015 Ford C-Max is also expected to receive a few changes for improved performance and reduced fuel consumption. The current model gets an average of about 45 mpg in the city, 40 mpg on the highway.

Ford Plans to Install Electric Vehicle Charging Stations for Employees

Ford Plans to Install Electric Vehicle Charging Stations for Employees

BRIGHTON, Mich. - Ford Motor Company has revealed plans to install electric vehicle charging stations for employees at over 50 of its U.S. and Canadian offices and plants. This installation would total to about 200 charging stations, all around U.S. and Canada.

The motive behind this move is to encourage Ford employees to purchase electric vehicles. Many consumers fear the electric vehicle simply because they believe that it will be costly to upkeep and they are concerned about the driving range of the vehicle. Even though Ford continues to develop electric vehicles to eliminate these worries, drivers are still hesitant.

To encourage electric vehicle sales, Ford Motor Company has slashed the prices of many electric vehicles over the past few months. Installing free electric vehicle charging stations for employees will help boost sales as well.

The charging stations will be at Ford offices and plants in the U.S. and Canada, and will offer free charging for the first four hours - this is enough time to fully charge a low battery. This free charging station will cost Ford about 50 cents per vehicle, but will save each employee up to $2 in gas a day.  Not to mention, between charging at home and charging at work, each electric vehicle owner should be able drive their cars in electric mode all the time.

Now that Ford plans to install electric vehicle charging stations for employees, it is definitely worth it to check out these great vehicles. The electric vehicles available are also a great buy for non-Ford employees, especially if you live in town and do a lot of local driving. If you'd like to discuss your options and find out if an electric vehicle is right for you, stop by our Farmington Area Ford Dealer today! We have a great selection of electric vehicles, New Ford Trucks, and Used Fords For Sale - so come see us today!

Denim and Diamonds Western-Themed Fundraiser

BRIGHTON, Mich. - Brighton Ford is proud to be a Dazzling Demin sponsor at the Denim and Diamonds Western-Themed Fundraiser taking place this weekend. On September 14th, guests will flock to Mario Township for a good old-fashioned party that will also help raise money to benefit the services and programs provided by LACASA.

LACASA is an admirable nonprofit in Livingston County that supports and advocates survivors of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault. They do this by not only providing prevention, but also education and awareness that works to make our community safer. Known for providing a safe environment for those in need, LACASA does not receive funding by a national parent organization. Instead, they must rely on generous contributions from the community and specific program grants.

The fundraiser to support LACASA will be held at the breathtaking lakeside ranch of Gwen Haggerty-Bearden and Steven Bearden in Howell, and it is sure to be a memorable evening. William Shadrick and the Modern Day Drifters will perform foot-stompin' country rock; national recording artist Kari Holmes will belt out high-spirited tunes while guitarist and singer Mike Farella plays acoustic favorites.

While the music is playing, guests will be able to participate in a variety of activities - everything from Wild West Gambling, to Line & Square Dancing, to the Dazzling Diamond Raffle (win a loot worth thousands of dollars!). All proceeds help abused children and victims of interpersonal violence in our community.

For tickets to the Denim and Diamonds Western-Themed Fundraiser - an evening of Wild West gambling, mechanical bull riding, and so much more - get your tickets at www.lacasacenter.org! If you need a ride to this event benefiting a great cause, stop by our Livonia Area Ford Dealer today! We would be more than happy to help you into a reliable vehicle that you'll love.

Electronic License Plates: Coming Soon to a Vehicle Near You

Electronic License Plates: Coming Soon to a Vehicle Near You
BRIGHTON, Mich. - A South Carolina startup company called Compliance Innovations has developed an electronic license plate that they are hoping to make available to vehicles across the country. While it is most likely to appear in California first, electronic license plates could be coming soon to a vehicle near you!

These electronic plates still have quite a bit of testing to undergo, however, they are designed to replace your normal license plate. They will attach to your vehicle much like your current plate, but you'll be able to update it wirelessly when it's time to renew your registration. All you'll have to do is go online to renew your vehicle registration, at which point your plate will update. This makes it super easy to do on-the-go.

With these electronic license plates coming soon to a vehicle near you, you'll be able to benefit quite a bit if you're the type to stay on top of all your registration and insurance information. If you're not, you'll be an easy target to police officers. These plates will reveal that your insurance has expired, or if your registration has not been renewed. While this may be a downside, one other positive to having electronic tags is that a stolen vehicle will be able to be spotted more quickly. Much like the picture above, a stolen vehicle will have the words 'stolen' across the top.

As of right now, the electronic license plates will start to appear on vehicles in California by 2017. For the rest of the country, we will have to wait. Waiting won't be too hard though when you think of all the amazing technology available to you right now in our Ford vehicles. If you'd like to discuss all the technology options available, stop by our Farmington Area Ford Dealer today! We are more than happy to help you with all of your vehicle needs - Used Car Loans, Car Loans, technology questions, or New Ford Cars - we've here to help!

2014 Ford Flex Review

2014 Ford Flex Review

BRIGHTON, Mich. - The Ford Flex is known for being a roomy, luxurious vehicle that is both a stylish and comfortable ride - the newest model is no exception. With only a few slight changes, our 2014 Ford Flex Review will get you up to speed with everything you need to know about this beautiful vehicle.

When it comes to space, the 2014 Ford Flex is hardly lacking. The 2014 model can seat up to 7 people comfortably, as it provides the same amount of passenger space and cargo room as a minivan - all while looking sleeker and more luxurious than the vehicle that is typically associated with soccer moms. The interior is not only spacious (holding up to 83 cubic feet behind the first row) but luxurious too. It has heated second-row seats that can slide forward to allow even the six-foot adults to sit comfortably in the third row.

As for safety, the Ford Flex comes standard with antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front side airbags, side curtain airbags and rear parking sensors. A rearview camera and a blind spot warning system are optional, along with second-row inflatable seat belts. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Testing gave the Flex a top rating for how it performed in moderate-overlap frontal-offset, side-impact and roof-strength tests.

It's safety features are only rivaled by the 2014 Ford Flex's powertrain and performance, as it comes standard with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that produces 287 hp and 254 lb.-ft. of torque. It gets up to 25 mpg on the highway and 18 mpg in the city and can go from 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds. Not to mention, if you need a vehicle that is spacious with great towing capabilities, the Ford Flex can tow up to 4,500 pounds. That's pretty impressive!

We hope this 2014 Ford Flex Review has convinced you of the Flex's strengths - if it hasn't, we recommend taking this vehicle out for a test drive so you can experience it for yourself! We also have a great selection of New Ford Trucks and New Ford Cars at your Farmington Area Ford Dealer, so no matter what you're looking for, stop on by and we'll be glad to help you out! Brighton Ford is located at 8240 Grand River Ave. just north of I-96 in Brighton. U.S. auto sales totaled an annual 16.02 million vehicles in August, making it the first time that auto sales have reached this number since 2007 - this is an increase of 9.7 millions cars from only a year ago. The boom in business is believed to be because of rebates, deals, low-interest rates and more.

While U.S. auto sales totaling an amount that hasn't been seen in years, Ford itself is experiencing the best retails sales seen in years! Since August of 2012, Ford sales have increased 12 percent making it the best retail sale month since August 2006. Now that's impressive!

Ford Windows Designed to Protect You From Sun

Ford Windows Designed to Protect You From Sun
BRIGHTON, Mich. - All Ford windows are designed to protect you in the event of a crash. The U.S. government has a collection of standards and regulations that require car companies to design the glass to shatter into tiny pieces (as opposed to shards) so that the glass doesn't harm the vehicle's occupants. However, there are no guidelines that require car companies to design your glass to ward off the sun's rays. No matter, Ford windows are designed to protect you from the sun, making it a car company that has your safety always at the forefront of its mind.

In your vehicle, the windshield offers the most protection from the sun. According to the law, windshields must be made with laminated glass; this type of glass breaks easily when something hard comes in contact with it, while a coating of plastic allows the glass to stretch a bit and absorb the impact. This plastic also absorbs the sun's ultraviolet rays, keeping you protected.

Despite the requirements for the windshield, there are no laws that require your sunroof, side windows, or back windows to have the same type of glass. This means that your side windows and sunroof can leave you unprotected and vulnerable to the sun's harmful rays. Vehicles such as the Ford Mustang, however, come standard with a laminated glass sunroof and more. These laminated windows improve the UV protection in your vehicle and help keep your car cool.

If you're concerned about being exposed to the sun in your car, we recommend putting on sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher before you drive - especially if you'll be driving in the sun for a long period of time. If you're looking for a more permanent solution, we can also discuss the various window options available for your car, or point out the vehicles that come with the Ford windows designed to protect you from the sun. Just stop by our Livonia Area Ford Dealer today and one of our team members would be more than happy to discuss the various window options with you.
