BRIGHTON, Mich - On Wednesday, May 14th, Concord, North Carolina Welcomed the New Ford Technical Support Center! The highly developed center is a place of development for Ford's future performance vehicles as well as an asset that will help contribute to furthering Ford's success within motorsports. With the NASCAR research and development center and several race car team headquarters in the area, Concord, NC was the ideal location for Ford's latest center. Throughout the 33,000-square-foot building there are plenty of tools for technical support and for teams to create and test their competition vehicles.  

Concord, North Carolina Welcomed the New Ford Technical Support Center and its entire inventory of advanced measurement and simulation tools. Having access to such a rapid and advanced leverage of the latest technology in product development provides Ford with a major advantage within motorsports. For now, the facility will focus mainly on supporting NASCAR teams within the three major touring divisions and eventually open up to other Ford Racing teams that participate in other series. An extremely amazing tool Ford Racing teams will have access to is the full-motion platform simulator. This machine allows teams to improve their setups for individual track configurations and even practice for a race ahead of time.

New Ford EcoBoost Race Engine to Debut at Daytona 24

BRIGHTON, Mich. - Ford Motor Company has recently announced that the new Ford EcoBoost race engine will debut at Daytona 24! Scheduled to compete at next year's Rolex 24 at Daytona on January 25 and 26, this 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost racing engine will run the entire 12-race season and power a Daytona Prototype car with an updated look.

The first team to sign on with the EcoBoost engine program is that of Michael Shank Racing. Although the engine won't actually debut until the Daytona 24 in January, the racing team has made plans to take the new engine out on the track beforehand. With Colin Braun behind the wheel, this racing team will attempt a record run speed test at the Daytona International Speedway later next week. The current record is 210.364 mph lap which was completed on Feb. 9, 1987 by NASCAR champion Bill Elliott.

The new Ford EcoBoost race engine will debut at the Daytona 24 and will be the only one of its kind there. Most racing engines are V8 powered however, Ford is extremely confident in the V6. The Ford EcoBoost is extremely capable of providing performance and fuel economy, which is why Ford is ready to put the engine to the test on the track. Hoping to take engine technologies to the next level, Ford believes this engine will most likely be the standard racing engine in the future.

Ford Racing unveils 2013 NASCAR Ford Fusion paint scheme!

Back in January Ford unveiled their new NASCAR stock car based on the 2013 Ford Fusion. While the reveal gave fans a look at the new racer’s shape, fans will finally be able to see the new stock car in full race livery this Thursday during the Roush Fenway Fan Day in Concord, North Carolina.

As you can see from the photos the new paint scheme sports the red and white of Ford’s parts division, Motorcraft, as the Wood Brothers will be racing it in this year’s Sprint Cup. Surprisingly, the vehicle in the photos is actually a full-size clay mock-up created by the Ford Design Center in Dearborn. After the Roush Fenway Fan Day the Motorcraft Fusion will spend the weekend in the Ford consumer display at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

So what about the rest of us? When will we have chance to get up close with this beast? Soon it seems. The 2013 Motorcraft Ford Fusion mock-up is scheduled to hit the road as part of a traveling exhibit throughout the 2012 season. All you have to do is keep those fingers crossed in hopes that it swings by your town – or one close to it.

The Ford Fusion Front Row is Set for the Daytona 500

Edwards pulls back into the pit after winning the pole

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. Feb. 22, 2012 – This past Sunday at Daytona International Speedway, Roush Fenway Racing drivers Carl Edwards and Greg Biffle brought lots of attention to the team and to the new Ford Fusion racecar. The Fusion blazed around the track during the pole qualifying run. Edwards flew through his first Daytona 500 pole lap in the NASCAR Fusion with a lap speed of 194.738 miles per hour! This was the fastest pole speed for the Daytona 500 since 1999. Biffle cruised in with the second fastest lap time, also sporting the Fusion, with an incredible 194.087 lap speed. The pair of Ford Fusions will be sitting in the front row at the starting line as they wait for the flag to be waved.

Edwards and Biffle’s run ended a four-year Chevy pole streak at the Daytona 500. In the unique qualifying procedure for the 500, only the two fastest drivers in time trials lock in positions on the starting grid. The rest of the 43-car field will be filled by the results of Thursday’s twin 150-mile qualifying races, time-trial speeds and provisionals. Winning the pole doesn’t guarantee a win at the big race but it was a positive feat that has the drivers amped up and ready for the first, and most important race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup season.

2013 NASCAR Ford Fusion

BRIGHTON, Mich. Jan. 24, 2012 - Today on Ford’s blog, Ford Social, the company announced that they are brining the “stock car” back to NASCAR with the release of the 2013 NASCAR Ford Fusion racecar. The 2013 NASCAR Fusion racecar will be based on the production model that was revealed at this year’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Hundreds of users we able to join in the action of the live unveiling of the 2013 NASCAR Fusion on a live streaming video on the blogs site this afternoon. The viewers were able to see the racecar live as it was revealed as well as interviews with some of Ford Racing’s drivers, and even got to see the car in action at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The live chat box was soon flooded as Ford lovers and NASCAR enthusiasts were eager to share their excitement and reactions on the newest addition to the Ford Racing team. Designers in the Ford Design Center worked extensively on the 2013 Ford Fusion NASCAR, the first stock car project by the team since 1970. This unveiling was the first of the 2013 NASCAR racecars that will bring automaker brand identity back to the sport, making it a standout moment.
