Ford Special Service Police Sedan Becomes Most Fuel-Efficient Police Vehicle

BRIGHTON, Mich. - While Ford has always been the number one pick for police cruisers across the country, the motor company is changing the game with a more fuel-efficient police car. This special service police sedan has in fact become the most fuel-efficient police vehicle in America!

This police vehicle takes the durability and great looks of the current police sedan and combines them with a 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine. This engine allows the sedans to get an EPA-estimated rating of 20 mpg in the city, 30 mpg on the highway and 24 mpg combined. The impressive 30 mpg on the highway is the rating that has earned the Ford Special Service Police Sedan the title of most fuel-efficient police vehicle in the country.

With this massive improvement upon fuel consumption, Ford has estimated that this fuel-efficient sedan will save police agencies hundreds of thousands of dollars. For example, let's take a fleet of 150 vehicles. If they drive an average 30,000 mile per year and gas prices average $3.21 a gallon, it is estimated that this vehicle will save the police agency around $257,940 over the course of three years - amazing!

One downside to the increased fuel-efficiency is that the vehicle does lose some of its power. However, this specific police sedan is designed to be used by detectives, administrators, or campus police - all drivers who may not need the get-up-and-go because their jobs don't entail chasing down lawbreakers.

While you can't exactly test drive the Special Service Police Sedan, you can take an EcoBoost powered vehicle out for a spin! We have a great selection of Ford Cars For Sale - many of which have an EcoBoost engine option. So if you'd like to see how this fantastic engine can help you save on gas, come on by! We'd be more than happy to help you.

11 Things You Didn't Know About Thanksgiving

11 Things You Didn't Know About Thanksgiving
BRIGHTON, Mich. - Since that historical first Thanksgiving dinner, Americans across the country have come together with family and friends to eat and be thankful for all that they have. Despite enjoying this great holiday every year, the origins and facts surrounding the holiday sometimes get lost. That's why we've come up with 11 things you PROBABLY didn't know about Thanksgiving:

1. The first Thanksgiving dinner took place in Plymouth Colony in October of 1621. Many believe that the first dinner took place in November (which is why we celebrate it during this time) but it was actually October! AND the dinner took place for three days - talk about a lot of food!

11 Things You Didn't Know About Thanksgiving2. George Washington advocated that Thanksgiving become an official holiday on October 3, 1789, but it didn't actually become one until Abraham Lincoln declared it so in 1863.

3. President Franklin D. Roosevelt is responsible for the modern date of Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday of November. He established this date in 1940.

4. Minnesota produces the most turkeys in the U.S. North Carolina, Arkansas, Missouri, Virginia and Indians are top producers as well.

11 Things You Didn't Know About Thanksgiving5. The average weight of a Thanksgiving turkey is 15 pounds. In 2007 alone, Americans consumed about 690 millions pounds of turkey!

6. The first football game that took place on Thanksgiving Day was in 1934, when the Detroit Lions played the Chicago Bears.

7. Thanksgiving is responsible for the creation of TV dinners. In 1953, the food company C.A. Swanson & Sons overstocked on turkey meat and had 260 tons of turkey left over from Thanksgiving. To use up the food, they created the TV dinner by putting the turkey leftovers in a futuristic looking
box.

8. Humans are 75 percent genetically identical to the pumpkin.

9. American average anywhere from 3,782 - 4,500 calories on the day of Thanksgiving.

10. Cranberries are native to America and the biggest producing states are Wisconsin and Massachusetts. In 2012, Farmers produced about 768 million pounds!

7 Holiday Shopping Tips

7 Holiday Shopping Tips
BRIGHTON, Mich. - It's officially that time of year again where millions of Americans are rushing to the stores to buy their loved ones the perfect gift. With so many people shopping, especially on Black Friday, it's best to have a game plan so that you can shop around stress-free. To help you get through the madness, we've come up with 7 holiday shopping tips that will help you save your money and your sanity.

1. Make a list. Write down everything that you want to buy, no matter how small, as well as the maximum amount you're willing to spend - and STICK WITH IT. Knowing exactly what you want to buy and how much money you have to spend will keep you from wandering around and buying items you don't actually need. Plus, you'll feel a zing of satisfaction every time you cross something off your list.

2. Do online research. A lot of stores such as Best Buy, Wal-Mart and more will price match. This means that if you find a better deal online or in a competing store's ad, these stores will match the price. Best Buy in particular will price match items that you find on Amazon, as long as they are 'Amazon Prime'. Reading the reviews and ratings of products online will also ensure that you're buying a high quality product.

3. If you're brave, hit up Black Friday. This event is a great way to score great deals on products your family will love. However, you should look online beforehand (combining tip 1 & 2) and make a list of everything that you want to buy. This will make it possible to get in and out quickly, and avoid the large amounts of crazed shoppers. ALSO, we will be having a Black Friday Sale Event with great deals on cars AND a 50" Flat-screen TV for one lucky car buyer. The best part about this sale is that we will get you in and out quickly so that you can spend more time shopping for your family.

4. If you do hit up Black Friday, or any other huge shopping day, make sure you stay vigilant. Make sure you have personal credit card information available at home in the event you lose a credit card while shopping. If you are using cash, make sure you stash your cash in a safe place and you only pull out the amount total when you're at the register, not the entire stash.

5. Know the return and exchange policies. Return policies vary from store to store, so make sure you know ahead of time whether or not you will have to ship back returns or exchanges, or if you can return them to the physical store in your area. Knowing how long you have to return or exchange the product is useful as well.

6. Don't forget about Cyber Monday. This is the biggest online shopping day of the holiday season, as retailers will offer special discounts on their online products. So just in case you don't make it out to the mall for Black Friday, check out the great deals that will be available to you the following Monday from the safety of your own home.

7. If you're shopping online, use common sense. One major downside to shopping online is that you don't actually get to see the product in person, so sometimes you don't know what you're getting. That's why we recommend following the golden rule of online shopping: if it seems to good to be true, it probably is and you should avoid it.

Hopefully these 7 holiday shopping tips will keep your stress at a minimum this holiday season, and help you score some great deals in the process. If you have any questions about Black Friday Sales in the area, or would like to know which vehicle's we can help you save big on with our Black Friday Sale Event, contact us today! First CNG-Capable 2014 Ford F-150 Rolls Off the Line

First CNG-Capable 2014 Ford F-150 Rolls Off the Line

BRIGHTON, Mich. - It's official: the first CNG-Capable 2014 Ford F-150 has rolled off the line in Kansas City! This momentous milestone has made Ford the only manufacturer with an available CNG-capable half-ton pickup, further setting Ford apart from its competitors.

This 2014 Ford F-150 has the ability to run on CNG (Compressed Natural Gas), giving the driver of the vehicle numerous benefits. First, it will improve the fuel efficiency of the F-150, giving it an EPA-estimated rating of 19 mpg combined city and highway. Secondly, using CNG is more beneficial to the environment since this alternative fuel includes cleaner emissions with up to 30 percent less greenhouse gases than the average F-150. Another benefit that will please drivers - especially those that make it their mission to buy locally - about 85 percent of the CNG used in the U.S. is produced within our own country.

As for how this green machine will be powered, it will come standard with a 3.7-liter V6 engine. This engine allows the vehicle to get more than 750 miles on the combined tanks of gasoline and CNG - talk about being in it for the long haul!

Another aspect that you can benefit from with the CNG-capable Ford F-150 is the fact Michigan offers tax incentives and rebates for CNG-converted vehicles. To see exactly how these incentives and rebates can benefit you, we recommend visiting the U.S. Department of Energy website to see the full list of Michigan laws and incentives related to Natural Gas.

The First CNG-Capable 2014 Ford F-150 has rolled off the line meaning you now have the opportunity to own one of these vehicles. If you'd like to discuss the benefits, costs, and more with choosing a CNG-compatible vehicle, stop by our dealership! We would be more than happy to answer any questions or concerns you have on Car LoansUsed Car Value and more! We are proud to be a Lansing Area Ford Dealer and a Lansing Used Car Dealer.

New Ford Edge Concept Revealed at L.A. Auto Show
BRIGHTON, Mich. - A new Ford Edge concept was revealed at the L.A. Auto Show this week, leaving all in attendance a little breathless. With a beautiful looking interior, an updated exterior, and a variety of cool technology, this vehicle is one that will be talked about for awhile.

While we will definitely get to the great look of the Ford Edge Concept, it's important to jump right into the technology that will be made available because this concept is a self-driving Ford! The Ford Edge Concept will come with a self-parking technology that will allow the driver of the vehicle to remotely park it from outside of the car. After pushing a button (either while inside the vehicle or outside), the Concept will park parallel or perpendicular all on its own.

The Ford Edge Concept will also feature an obstacle avoidance technology that will use cameras and sensors to detect slow moving and stationary objects in the vehicle's way. When it detects something, it will warn the driver. If they do not react, the vehicle will steer itself away from the object safely. Adaptive steering will be made available in this vehicle as well, allowing for easier steering at slow speeds and more.

Because there are so many updates to the interior of the vehicle, here is a bullet point list of only a few of the major changes:

Thanksgiving Turkey Tips

Thanksgiving Turkey Tips
BRIGHTON, Mich. - Thanksgiving will be here before you know it, which means you're probably already thinking about the star of the Thanksgiving feast: the turkey. Cooking a turkey can be difficult, even for the Thanksgiving professionals. To help you conquer the daunting task of cooking the bird, here are a few Thanksgiving turkey tips to get you through the holidays:

1. You want to pick the right turkey for you and your family. Whether you prefer organic, fresh, big, small, or frozen, there is a turkey option available for everyone.  One thing to keep in mind is that fresh is not necessarily always better than frozen. Frozen turkeys are snap-frozen just after they are butchered which means you get a fresh bird.

2. If you aren't sure about which size to get, the best way to guess is to average about 1 to 1 1/2 lbs. per person. Add a few pounds on for bones and you should have the perfect turkey size for your family. For example, 8 people should do great with a 12-14 lb. turkey.

3. DON'T stuff the turkey. Despite having grown up with a turkey stuffed full, it is recommended that you cook the stuffing in a separate pan. Cooking the stuffing in the turkey can actually promote the growth of harmful bacteria. Plus, it will take longer for the turkey to cook which can result in drier white meat. Instead of stuffing, fill your turkey with flavorful spices or onions.

4. Rub the turkey with butter or oil. Before putting it in the oven, make sure you rub your DRY turkey with butter, canola oil or olive oil. We also recommend putting chunks of butter under the skin to make the meat as moist as possible.

5. Let your bird soak. After you've cooked it, tent your turkey in foil and let it rest for at least 15-20 minutes outside of the oven. By letting your turkey cool, the juices will keep your meat moist and flavorful. If you carve into the turkey as soon as it is done you lose a lot of those juices and flavor.

Hopefully these Thanksgiving turkey tips will help you as you cook your bird this holiday. If you aren't cooking and are instead traveling to visit family, we recommend getting behind the wheel of a reliable and comfortable vehicle! If your current vehicle is neither of those two things stop by our dealership today and we'll get you into something you can trust. We have everything from Low Mileage Used Cars to Ford Cars For Sale to Certified Preowned Cars For Sale - so come see us today!

3 Fresh Thanksgiving Side Dish Recipes

BRIGHTON, Mich. - Thanksgiving is rapidly approaching which means tables and bellies alike will be full of food. If you want to ensure that you and your family are eating only the best on this American holiday, take a look at our 3 fresh Thanksgiving side dish recipes. These dishes are delicious and easy - something you and your family will be thankful for!

1. Stovetop Green Bean Casserole - this is a Thanksgiving meal classic that everyone loves! However, many will throw the casserole together using green beans out of a can and fried onions out of a box. Our recipe is still just as easy and delicious, but a little more fresh.
For the green beans and sauce you'll need:
3 Fresh Thanksgiving Side Dish Recipes
  • 3 tbsp. salt
  • 1 lb. fresh green beans, trimmed and halved
  • 2 tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 12 oz. mushrooms, trimmed and cut
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp. freshly ground nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp. flour
  • 1 cup chicken brother
  • 1 cup half-and-half
The topping:
  • 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 tbsp. panko bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp. kosher salt
Preheat the oven to 475 degrees. Combine the onions, flour, panko and salt in a large bowl where you'll toss and combine them. Coat a sheet pan with cooking spray and spread the onions on the pan. Place the pan in the oven and bake for about 30 minutes. Toss the onions 2-3 times while cooking. After they are done, set them aside to cool and turn your oven down to 400 degrees. During the 30 minutes they are cooking, bring a gallon of water and 2 tbsp. of salt to a boil. Add the beans and cook for 5 minutes. Drain the beans and plunge them into a large bowl of ice water to stop the cooking. For the sauce, melt the butter in an iron skillet. Add mushrooms, 1 tsp. salt and pepper for about 4-5 minutes. Add the garlic and nutmeg and continue to cook for another 1-2 minutes. Sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir to combine. Add the broth and simmer for 1 minute. Decrease the heat and add the half-and-half. Cook for another 6-8 minutes until the mixture thickens. Stir in the green beans, top with onions and place inside the oven until the mixture is bubbly, then remove and serve!

2. Sour Cream and Chive Mashed Potatoes. You'll need:
  • 2 lbs. Ukon gold potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 8 tbsp. unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup half-and-half
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup fresh chives
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Cover the potatoes with 1 in. cold water in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer and cook until the potatoes are tender (probably about 20 minutes). In a small pot over low heat combine half-and-half and butter. Heat until hot, but not simmering. Drain the potatoes and wipe the saucepan dry. Add the potatoes back into the saucepan and mash. Give it a quick mix with a hand mixer to make the potatoes thick and smooth. Using a spatula, fold in the melted butter and half-and-half mixture, then fold in the sour cream and 1/4 cup chives.

3. Southern Style Candied Yams with Gingersnap Crunch. Another staple to your Thanksgiving feast should be candied yams. To keep things as fresh and delicious as possible, you'll need:
3 Fresh Thanksgiving Side Dish Recipes
  • 8 yams, peeled and halved
  • 1 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 3 tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar, 2 tbsp. honey
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp. nutmeg
For the crunch:
  • 4 oz. gingersnap cookies
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 4 tbsp. unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup flour
For the yams, you'll want to preheat your oven to 400 degrees. Toss the yams with oil in a bowl and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Melt 2 tbsp. of butter in a small saucepan and add the brown sugar, honey, cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg  and mix until the mixture comes to a simmer and the sugar dissolves. Add this mixture to the yams and toss to coat. Spread the yams and all the sauce evenly into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Cover tightly with foil and bake until beginning to become tender (probably 30 minutes). For the crunch, pulse the gingersnaps in a food processor and then transfer to a medium bowl where you'll stir in the sugar, butter and flour to combine. Form the mixture into crumbles with your hands and then chill in the refrigerator. Remove the foil from the yams and stir to coat with the sauce. Continue baking uncovered until the potatoes are tender and the sauce has thickened (another 20-25 minutes). Top with gingersnap crumbles until the yams are very tender (another 10 minutes). After they are tender and nicely browned, remove from the oven, cool and enjoy!

Sneak Peek: 2015 Ford F-150

Sneak Peek: 2015 Ford F-150
BRIGHTON, Mich. - With a debut expected in Detroit this January, we've been given a sneak peek of the 2015 Ford F-150 that is sure to satisfy our curiosity until the reveal. Especially because one thing  has become very obvious looking at the spy shots - the updated F-150 looks strikingly similar to the Ford Atlas Concept.

The Ford Atlas Concept debuted this past year at the Detroit Auto Show, giving fans and auto journalists a chance to fawn over the hard lines and beefy look. This fantastic exterior appears to be influencing the 2015 Ford F-150 - especially in the face. The shots of the F-150, despite having thick camouflage covering, reveal that the vehicle will adopt the Atlas' grille and rectangular angles. The Atlas also had a great pair of LED headlights and taillights that came with unique shutters on the grille and wheels to improve aerodynamics, which the F-150 is expected to get something similar.

Sneak Peek: 2015 Ford F-150As for powertrain and performance, nothing will be confirmed until the debut in January. However, it is expected that the new model will continue to offer a 5.0-liter V8 engine, along with a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6. Fuel economy is also expected to improve significantly since Ford has confirmed that they are making a few changes to the engine and shedding quite a few pounds with a new lightweight aluminum build.

Unfortunately this sneak peek of the 2015 Ford F-150 hasn't provided us with any specifications. However, we won't have to wait too long until the vehicle is completely unveiled in January at the Detroit Auto Show. After the unveiling, it will be a couple more months until the vehicle is for sale on our lot next fall.

Until then, we have a great selection of Ford F-150s on our lot - all ready and available for you to take for a test drive. If you'd like to see how it feels to get behind the wheel of one of these powerful and efficient Fords, stop by our dealership today! We will be more than happy to assist you with anything from Car Loans to Used Car Value to Low Mileage Used Cars. We're here to help!

2015 Ford Edge Revealed

2015 Ford Edge Revealed
BRIGHTON, Mich. - A few weeks ago we proudly showed off spy shots of the 2015 Ford Edge as it was seen driving around Michigan in a thick camouflage coating. Now the 2015 Ford Edge has been revealed without the coatin- and boy, it's a beauty!

The crossover has clearly had some work done to its appearance, as the vehicle now sports straighter lines and deeper folds, as well as angular rear windows and rounded D-pillars. The Edge's 3 bar chrome grille has carried over from the current model and been given the trapezoidal treatment.

2015 Ford Edge Revealed

As for the vehicle's interior, pictures haven't surfaced just yet. However, it's believed to have undergone some minor changes that Edge fans are sure to love. The vehicle's technology has been updated with Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning and Blind Spot Monitoring with Cross-Traffic Alert. Ford fans are also crossing their fingers that Ford's newest Obstacle Avoidance Program will be included in the Edge's technology lineup, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.

The 2015 Ford Edge has been revealed, but we will still have to wait a little longer to get all the exact specs on this impressive crossover. University of Michigan Sets Driverless Car Goal in Ann Arbor

University of Michigan Sets Driverless Car Goal in Ann Arbor
BRIGHTON, Mich. - The University of Michigan has set a driverless car goal for Ann Arbor: By 2021 Ann Arbor will be the first American city with a shared fleet of networked, driverless vehicles. This goal will be made possible through a collaboration of U of M's Mobility Transformation Center and our country's government.

Automobile companies have been testing driverless vehicles for awhile - Ford is no exception. Having used self-driving technology, the motor company has recently created a vehicle that will park itself without its driver even being in the vehicle. Similarly, Ford has also developed an obstacle avoidance technology that allows the vehicle to control its own steering wheel and steer safely out of the way of any pedestrians. As Ford works to further develop this technology to create a vehicle that can drive itself completely, the world waits on the edge of its seat for the driverless car to be made available to the public.

University of Michigan Sets Driverless Car Goal in Ann ArborAnn Arbor is part of this anticipating crowd, as the University of Michigan has set a driverless car goal for Ann Arbor. Giving automobile companies until 2021, the Transportation Research Institute at the University of Michigan has set these goals so that they can.. "demonstrate fully driverless vehicles operating within the whole infrastructure of the city within an eight-year timeline and to show that these can be safe, effective and commercially successful."

Recently, the university approved a $6.5 million, 30-acre driverless car test site that will allow driverless cars to be tested in a copycat cityscape. Hopefully, with the technology available and companies such as Ford Motor Company working hard to perfect the driverless car, Ann Arbor will reach its driverless car goal well before the set year.

While the driverless car technology is having the kinks worked out, there is still a variety of Ford vehicles that come with safety technology designed to assist you while driving. To discuss all the various technology options available to you, stop by our dealership! We are proud to be a Lansing Area Ford Dealer with a great selection of Ford Cars For Sale, as well as Used Fords For Sale. So come by today and let us get you into a vehicle you'll feel secure in!

Ford Reveals 400HP Fusion at SEMA

Ford Reveals 400HP Fusion at SEMA
BRIGHTON, Mich. - SEMA has turned out to be a must-follow event for all Ford fans, as the blue oval company has been consistently marveling with an outstanding selection of vehicles. Among the 57 other vehicles on display, Ford has revealed a 400HP Fusion at SEMA 2013.

This 2014 Ford Fusion has been modified with a Full Race Motorsports upgrade, giving the vehicle a 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine. This engine has been fitted with a BorgWarner turbocharger, a cat-back exhaust and a cold-air intake - all of which combines to let this beauty produce 400HP and 350 lb.-ft. of torque. This is a huge jump from the current 240HP and 270lb.-ft. of torque that the standard 2014 Ford Fusion produces.

Although the EcoBoost and modifications already give the vehicle quite the punch, designers didn't stop there. To allow this modified Ford Fusion to perform even better, the vehicle has been given a lowered suspension, upsized brakes, and 21-inch wheels. To keep you entertained inside the car, the Full Race Motorsports performance company has installed custom leather seats by Katzkin, an in-dash seven-inch Android touchscreen tablet, and more.

Ford Shows Off Customized Trucks at SEMA 2013

BRIGHTON, Mich. - SEMA 2013 has officially begun and the Ford display is anything but a disappointment. Among the 57 other vehicles that Ford has brought to showcase, Ford is showing off customized trucks at SEMA 2013.

While there is a fleet of customized trucks on display, one of the vehicle's that captured our attention is the EcoTrek Ford F-350, also dubbed 'The Survivor'. This vehicle was designed with the end of the world in mind, as it provides a post-apocalyptic Ford owner with everything they could possibly need. First, the vehicle will hardly ever need to be filled up as it's outfitted with a 50-gallon fuel tank. Should you need fuel, there is a removable 75 gallon tank inside the vehicle's bed that will give the 6.7-liter V8 engine power for about 1,800 miles.

Should you run out of gas, you can easily live out of the EcoTrek that doubles as a off-road camper. Inside the vehicle you'll find a roof shelter, stoves, a refrigerator, solar panels for power, sleeping bags, backpacks, and storage lockers. After you've packed your vehicle full of food and water, you'll be able to escape and survive at a moment's notice.

Another vehicle that had Ford fans talking is 'The Hunter' aka the F-150 Backwoods Sportsman. If you'd rather prepare for you weekend than plan for the end of the world, the F-150 Backwoods Sportsman is made with hunters and fisherman in mind. Designed to haul gear and kills, this vehicle will get you over even the most rugged terrain with its Skyjacker Suspensions 6-inch lift kit and Fab Fours Inc. rugged bumpers.
