2017 Ford F-150 Raptor Was Tested In The Harshest Conditions

BRIGHTON, Mich. - You may have heard a few people in the automotive industry– especially the truck world– talk about the all-new 2017 F-150 Ford Raptor. What is causing so much excitement is the fact that the new truck just recently completed over 1,000 miles of testing in the southwestern part of the United States. The 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor was tested in the harshest conditions attainable and this is Ford Motor Company's roughest, smartest, most capable off-road truck ever!

The '17 F-150 Raptor was tested over 1,028 miles of complete desert trail designed to parallel the Baja race course in the Mexican desert, and the 66-mile route featured a wide range of surfaces including fast sandy washes, deep-rutted silt beds, steep climbs in deep sand, and slow meticulous crawls through tight trenches. In some places, the Raptor topped out at speeds just over 100 mph while slowing all the way down to 10mph in some places. The average speed over the course was 50mph and the 2017 F-150 Raptor completed the lap at a rate of 25% faster than the current model.

Impressive right? At the end of each race lap, the Raptor completed a tabletop jump which consisted of a steep ramp up to a two-foot plateau, then a step-off back to level ground. As is the case with ALL Built Ford Tough Trucks, the vehicles were put through EXTREME tests that a normal truck purchased from a dealer lot would never go through in it's practical lifetime usage. Engineers and experts at Ford Motor Company pushed the Raptor harder in a test that lasted a few days than it will be pushed over its lifetime.

Ford's Next-Generation SVT Raptor is an Off-Roading Beast

BRIGHTON, Mich. - Meet the newest member of Ford Motor Company's F-150 lineup, the all-new SVT Raptor. Ford's Next-Generation SVT Raptor is an off-roading beast and without a doubt the top-performing off-roading pickup in the lineup. Ford engineers have tweaked every single part of the F-150 Raptor to ensure that it is the toughest, smartest, most capable off-roader out there.

It's so strong and tough, you just won't be able to get enough! Ford's Next-Generation SVT Raptor features the strongest frame in the F-150 lineup, which is made up of more high-strength steel and has reduced the truck's weight by more than 500 pounds to improve performance and capability. The all-new Raptor has Ford's new, second-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine under the hood, which produces 411 horsepower and 434 lb. -ft. of torque! 

The truck will also have a 10-speed transmission and an all-new four-wheel-drive, torque-on-demand transfer case, with an advanced, easier-to-use version of off-road mode driver-assist technology (say that 5 times fast). A few calibration changes have been made to the Raptor's power train, driveline, traction control, ABS, and AdvanceTrac stability control to enhance performance. There are actually SIX preset modes for the truck depending on the weather and terrain:

• Normal mode for everyday driving

• Street mode for higher-performance, on-road driving

• Weather mode for rain, snow or ice

• Mud and sand mode for muddy and sandy trails and terrain

• Baja mode for high-speed desert running

• Rock mode for low-speed rock crawling

Ford's all-new SVT Raptor is more capable than ever and has been redesigned with larger FOX Racing Shox for more suspension travel and terrain management technology. This baby will surely be able to tackle even the toughest terrains in America - from the Mojave Desert to Michigan snow. The all-new Raptor will be built at the Dearborn Truck Plant and go on sale in Fall 2016.

Ford Takes Raptor V8 Engine to the Boating Industry

BRIGHTON, Mich. - After a 20 year hiatus, Ford has announced they will be taking the Raptor V8 engine to the boating industry. Having partnered with Indmar Marine Engines, Ford will be rejoining the boating industry by offering a boating version of the engine that powers the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor and Ford F-Series Super Duty Trucks.

The engine that is found in these vehicles is the 6.2-liter V8 engine. Indmar and Ford will offer three models of varying horsepower and torque, giving boaters a variety of options for their high-performance boat. Along with the updated engine, they will also be working to create boats that are heavier with bigger wakes and larger passenger capacity.

Indmar Marine Engine decided to partner with Ford after they realized their boats were in need of more power. The modified 6.2-liter V8 engine was the perfect fit, as it will give the boats more torque, reliability, and durability.

Ford is taking the Raptor V8 engine to the boating industry with hopes that its engine will give the industry the same power and efficiency that is currently found in the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor.
