Ford Celebrates Explorer's 25th Anniversary with All-New 2016 Model

BRIGHTON, Mich. - Last week at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show, Ford Motor Company celebrated a milestone for one of the most popular SUVs in their lineup. After 25 years as America's best-selling SUV providing customers with innovative technology and top-notch capability and efficiency, Ford debuted an Explorer that will soon be considered the freshest in the industry. 

What better way for Ford to celebrate the Explorer's 25th Anniversary than with an all-new 2016 model? The 2016 Ford Explorer and all of its glorious enhancements are scheduled to go on sale next summer. Coming a tremendously long way since the first model in 1991, Ford customers will now be able to enjoy more versatility, capability, smart technology, and efficiency with the Explorer than ever before! 

The most exciting addition to the Ford Explorer is the luxurious Platinum series that takes the look and feel of the full-size SUV to another level. The multicontour wrapped Nirvana leather with micro-perforaton is the most high-quality interior that Ford has ever offered on a vehicle. The door panels and instrument panels are dusted with aluminum and satin-finished ash wood in multi-piece appliqués. The Platinum series will also be the first Ford vehicle to have the all-new 500-watt Sony Audio System with Live Acoustics and Clear Phase technology; a system that will re-create sound dynamics and provide customers with a more realistic sound. 

Along with an improved suspension, quieter cabin, and stylish new exterior, the 2016 Ford Explorer also features all-new engine that makes the SUV more efficient and improves performance. The 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine generates 270 horsepower and at least 300 lb.-ft of torque! EPA results have not been certified, but Ford expects that the 2016 Explorer will continue to be a gas mileage leader on the highway.
