100 Women Who Care About Livingston County 1st and 2nd Quarter Winners

Congratulations to Livingston County Habitat for Humanity for being chosen to receive the 1st quarter donations from 100 Women Who Care About Livingston County! Talk about an organization that deserves it, Habitat for Humanity is a non-denominational Christian based nonprofit organization dedicated to the elimination of poverty and substandard housing worldwide working here and with other Habitats.  Local volunteers and partner families work together to build new or improve existing homes. Habitat for Humanity is inclusive and open to all who will work with them. We are super excited to see what Livingston County Habitat for Humanity does with the funds to help our community!

Congratulations are also in place for Special Ministries of Livingston County, who will receive the 2nd quarter donations from 100 Women Who Care About Livingston County.  If you didn’t know, Special Ministries of Livingston County Special Ministries of Livingston County is a 501c(3) non-profit organization that provides quality programming for individuals living with cognitive and physical disABILITIES offering growth in personal relationships, continuous learning, recreation and spiritual development.

100 Women Who Care About Livingston County is an organization that launched by Candye Hinton a local Realtor in Livingston County in March of 2012. On May 8th the first group of women gathered for one hour and collected over $6700.00. By the end of 2012, the first group of charter women had raised well over $25,000. In 2013 our fantastic group of women raised $41,800. In 2014, the women raised $47,725. In 2015, the women raised $43,275 and in 2016 they raised $43,345.  Brighton Ford is proud to participate in 100 Women, making a difference in our community in so many ways!

Brighton Ford Teams Up With Bountiful Harvest in Brighton

Bountiful Harvest Food Pantry is committed to helping the needy individuals and families of Livingston County.  It’s a great program that helps people in our community and surrounding areas!  Bountiful Harvest is a food pantry, where people can shop for groceries.  Bountiful Harvest is also a clothing closet, where people can shop for men's, women's and children's clothes.  They also serve hot meals on Fridays and Saturdays to make sure that everyone is fed.  Bountiful Harvest is all free for low income individuals and families, making sure no one goes hungry. 

Bountiful Harvest Food Pantry, in support of and in collaboration with human services agencies, area food banks and feeding America organizations, provides surplus, donated, and low-cost food and personal care items to people-in-need in Livingston County. Through the support and backing of both the members of our faith based family of churches and the broader community, we will fulfill our role with a sense of Christian love, compassion, and urgency to be a significant source of emergency food for the hungry.

Locally and internationally, Bountiful Harvest Inc. is a vocal advocate for the hungry and displaced. We do what is needed in order to help children and families in need.  No need is too small and no voice is too quiet to be heard.  We will devote the time and energy necessary to educate, advocate, and feed.

Bountiful Harvest Programs:

-Client-Choice Food Pantry Over 2500 families have become clients of the pantry. New families are added weekly due to the difficult times we are currently experiencing. The choice of food includes: frozen meat, dairy products, canned goods and fresh produce when in season. Also available are items such as toilet paper, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, when available – babyfood, diapers, wipers, formula.

-Clothing Pantry The clothing pantry celebrated its 6th anniversary in November of 2016. We have been fortunate to supply clothing for newborn through adult sizes. The second Saturday of every November we have a Winter Coat Give-away (which includes hats, scarfs and gloves). We gave away over 500 coats this November.

-Christian Counseling

-Adult and Children’s Bible Studies

-Children’s Crafts Every Week

-Support Groups and Counseling

-Resource Navigator Help for those who need information on what help is available to them for specific needs, such as: utilities, gas cards, housing, etc

-SNAP Twice a month we have a SNAP coordinator available to help clients apply for the Bridge Card.

-Hot Breakfast Every Saturday Bountiful Harvest provides a hot breakfast for anyone in need. The breakfast includes scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes or french toast, fruit, oatmeal, bagels, coffee and juice.

-Thanksgiving Meal Over 150 thanksgiving meals were provided to our clients thanks to the support of the community and volunteers. This includes a 14 pound turkey with all the fixings. Simply Fresh Market supplied organic vegetables, potatoes, etc.

-Christmas Meal We distributed 137 10 pound hams and 16 14 pound turkeys with all the fixins to our families for their Christmas dinner.

-Christmas Store Every Friday and Saturday during the month of December we offer our clients the ability to choose Christmas presents for their children. The children can go to a different room and select Christmas presents for their parents. We have a wrapping stations so that all gifts are wrapped and ready for under the tree. This was made possible through local merchants, community donations, schools and Newcomers Club of Livingston County.

-Connected Kidz Connected Kidz gives free laptop computers to children who qualify for the free lunch program. We have been targeting 5th graders to get them prepared for high school and their future. Jeff Hauk is the Creator and Acting Director of this program and is doing an awesome job.

Brighton Ford At The Meals on Wheels Volunteer Appreciation Dinner

Brighton Ford was honored to be a part of the Meals on Wheels (MoW) Volunteer Appreciation Dinner.  We have partnered with Meals on Wheels of Livingston and Western Oakland County and are helping with their social media management, video production and some special digital campaigns.  The reason Brighton Ford continues to help this awesome non-profit organization is because we care about our community and Meals on Wheels helps the, often times forgotten, homebound seniors in the community that we serve.

MoW’s annual thank you dinner for their volunteers was a huge success!  This year’s pirate theme made it fun for everyone and the food prepared by Meals on Wheels Chef Ed Carrico’ was very delicious.  The turkey, the stuffing, potatoes and dessert truly made it a Thanksgiving feast.  Many of MoW’s volunteers went home with great prizes in the raffle for all and the floor mat and solar powered light were given to every guest at the dinner.  A huge thank you to Mystic Creek Banquet Center for hosting and a great all around night!  Also, thank you to Reverend Doug McMunn from Milford United Methodist Church for his blessing!  The entertainment of the Barbershop Quartet, the Livingston Lamplighters “Sharp Attack”, made for a very entertaining night. 

Thank you to each and every volunteer for Meals on Wheels, whether you volunteered once during the year or 4 days a week, MoW’s could never do what they do without your help!  They are delivering 1,500 meals a day and making a huge difference in our community with pet and child programs as well.  MoW’s is looking forward to another great year of serving the homebound seniors of Livingston and Western Oakland County!
