Advanced 2.7-Liter EcoBoost Makes F-150 More Capable and Efficient

Advanced 2.7-Liter EcoBoost Makes F-150 More Capable and Efficient
BRIGHTON, Mich - Another reason to love the All-New Ford F-150, the Advanced 2.7-Liter EcoBoost® Makes the F-150 More Capable and Efficient than ever. The 2.7-liter engine with an extremely high output and lightweight design is accompanied by an Auto Start-Stop technology creating a stronger and smarter truck.

The all-new 2.7-liter EcoBoost® with the standard Auto Start-Stop was engineered exclusively for the new Ford F-150. The engine features a new design that delivers more power and a stronger performance that ever before. Taking lessons learned from the 3.5-liter EcoBoost, an industry benchmark for advanced truck engines, and applying new technologies created a more efficient engine that can perform like a large mid-range V8.

The 2.7-liter EcoBoost is the first use of graphite iron cylinder block in a gasoline engine. The composite CGI/aluminum block saves weight and provides strength where it is needed for maximum durability. The engine also contains all-new engine logic that alters operating parameters on the fly, providing the best efficiency and performance for the environment and workload. Some of these features include:

  • All-new aluminum cylinder heads that feature water-cooled integrated exhausted manifolds
  • Cooling jets beneath the pistons that spray oil on the pistons to help lower operating temperatures
  • Cartridge-style oil filter integrated into top of the engine for easy service
The Auto Start-Stop technology in the new F-150 boosts fuel efficiency and is specially tuned for truck customers. The technology shuts the engine off when the vehicle is at a stop and turns it on within milliseconds once the brake is released. With the exception of when the truck is towing or in four-wheel drive, this technology will give drivers power on demand when they need it the most.

In order to prove the 2.7-liter EcoBoost's capability and durability, it had to take on intense environments. Ford labs and the 2013 Baja 1000 provided such environments. A disguised F-150 participated in the Baja 1000 with no additional oil coolers or radiators that are typically added for multi-day off-road races. The truck finished the 883-mile event, which was said to be the toughest in decades, without any problems. The stock air filter was the only part changed during the event.

In addition to the Baja 1000, the Ford labs subjected the F-150 to temperatures between minus 25 degrees and 235 degrees Fahrenheit. It participates in fatigue tests that run the engine at full load for more than 17 days and usually at peak torque and power. The Auto Start-Stop is also tested with repeated stop/starts with more than 900 test hours, simulating 240,000 starts and stops.

The Advanted 2.7-Liter EcoBoost will Make the F-150 More Capable and Efficient for truck customers every where. Ford Motor Company is taking "Built Tough" to a whole new level!

2015 Ford Mustang

2015 Ford Mustang
BRIGHTON, Mich. - The moment you've all been waiting for has finally arrived... The official reveal of the 2015 Ford Mustang! The vehicle was available to see in person at events in New York, Los Angeles, Shanghai, Sydney, Barcelona and Dearborn, MI, but blowing up the internet to be viewed by all the moment it was revealed.

The first thing you need to know about this beauty is that it's been updated substantially. In fact, it's the first full redesign the pony car has seen since 2005. While the vehicle has been given a complete overhaul with a more modern design, Ford has made sure to reflect on the vehicle's past, allowing 50 years of Mustang history to bleed through.

2015 Ford Mustang

Every part of the vehicle's exterior has been taken and reinvented, giving the vehicle smoother lines and a sleeker physique. With 50 years of beautiful heritage, the vehicle gives a slight tip of the hat to its ancestors while keeping things relatively modern and fresh. The headlights are more forward than previous years, while the nose of the vehicle is prominent and proud. The entire cabin has been moved backwards which has resulted in a longer hood. This gives the vehicle a 1964-1965 Mustang fastback look in the rear with backlights that have been narrowed in the wide fender - all of which combines to give the vehicle the beloved muscle car look. The wheels are out 20mm on each side, while the vehicle itself sits lower and wider.

2015 Ford Mustang

As for which colors will be available on the 2015 Ford Mustang, designers have really stepped up their game with paint and materials. They will continue to offer the core colors of black, white, grey, silver, etc. along with bold colors such as shades of eye-catching red, a brand new yellow, orange, blue. The 2015 pony car will also come in a variety of colors for the sophisticated driver such as a dark green and deeper shade of red and blue.

The interior is where the pony car lover will get lost in luxury. You'll find large round gauges, a double-brow look, a symmetrical instrument panel and premium materials such as real aluminum, leather and metal.  The typical Mustang ball shifter is in place, while the toggle switches and buttons will remind you of being in the cockpit of a plane - and when you're flying down the highway in your new pony car, you'll feel like a pilot.

2015 Ford Mustang

Under the hood Mustang buyers will have three engines to choose from with an updated version of the current 3.7-liter V6, a 5.0-liter V8 and a brand new 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder. The V6 will give you 300 HP, but the upgraded V8 will generate an impressive 420 HP. If you want all the power of the Mustang without sacrificing fuel economy, Ford's EcoBoost engine will put out 305 HP and get you better gas mileage - exactly how much better, we aren't sure. Specific EPA estimates of MPG have not been released as of today.

We are so excited for the 2015 Ford Mustang, especially since the iconic car will be celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. While the 2015 model won't be available for purchase until next year (cost hasn't yet been released), we do have a great selection of 2014 Ford Mustangs on our lot. No matter what you're looking for, we have a variety of New Ford Cars, New Ford Trucks and Certified Pre-Owned Cars For Sale. Ford Data Reveals 60 Percent of Plug-In Vehicle Trips Are Gas-Free

Ford Data Reveals 60 Percent of Plug-In Vehicle Trips Are Gas-Free
BRIGHTON, Mich. - Ford Hybrid owners appear to be taking advantage of their gas-free electric range, as recent Ford data reveals 60 percent of plug-in vehicle trips are gas-free! Ford collects the data from the MyFord Mobile app in order to see how often their hybrids are in electric mode, how efficient the vehicle is being overall, how much energy is being consumed, and driving scores.

The data collected is in no way connected to individual drivers, as the data is collected as an overall group that helps Ford continue to deliver the best possible ownership experience to you. If you own a hybrid or battery-electric vehicle such as the Fusion Energi, C-MAX Energi and Focus electric, MyFord Mobile is available to you.
Ford Data Reveals 60 Percent of Plug-In Vehicle Trips Are Gas-Free

The MyFord Mobile is a great app as it allows you to locate a charging station, track how efficient your vehicle is being, and more! One great addition to the app that is worth noting is the Trip & Charge Log. This allows drivers to track how much energy was used and average fuel economy on a recent trip. The app also has a feature called 'My GO Time' which allows you to schedule your car to turn on the heat/air to make your vehicle comfortable, as well as make sure that it's charged and ready to go when you are!

The Ford data reveals 60 percent of plug-in vehicle trips are gas-free - a percentage that continues to creep up daily. The Ford data has also revealed that 6 million charging stations are found every month through MyFord mobile; the average charge time for each electric vehicle is 185 minutes; and 84% of one-way trips are of distances 20 miles or less.

If you're interested in looking at a Ford Electric Vehicle, or would like to know more about the MyFord Mobile App, stop by our Wixom Area Ford Dealership today! Our Brighton Ford team members would be more than happy to assist you with any of your vehicle needs. While you're here, take a look at our New Ford Trucks or Ford Cars For Sale!

5 Features That Could Be On Your Future Car

5 Features That Could Be On Your Future Car
BRIGHTON, Mich. - Technology that makes your vehicle more safe and fuel efficient is sprouting up daily and changing the way the industry makes cars. Every day brings us closer to a car that could ultimately drive itself or not use any fuel. While there are certain features that haven't even been thought of yet, here are 5 features that could be on your future car.

Collision warning and automatic braking is the first feature that will most likely exist in future vehicles, as it prevents your car from colliding with objects around you. Whether it be a braking vehicle, standing pedestrian, or a tree, this system would alert you and either stop the vehicle, or slow it down. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the collision warning alone reduced crashed by 7 percent in vehicles that currently have the system installed - adding the automatic braking would only help decrease the amount of collisions on the road.

Automotive cameras are already appearing in vehicles, and are expected to be mandated by law before 2015. These cameras won't only be put in the rear to spot objects behind the vehicle, but will also be used to spot obstacles while turning; give the driver a bird's eye view of the surrounding area; or even be used to spot large animals!

Lane centering technology is another feature that could be on your future car. The Ford Fusion and Ford Explorer currently offer the lane centering technology, but it is expected to be automatically included with future vehicles. This system nudges drivers if they stray from their lane, by sounding a beep or vibrating the driver's seats.

The fourth feature that is expected to be on your future car is adaptive headlights. This feature would be extremely helpful for drivers, as it would allow lights to swivel as you turn and help you see around corners. These lights would also be able to sense if there are cars coming and automatically dim. Adaptive lights would make being blinded by oncoming traffic lights, a think of the past.

By 2025, it will be required that all vehicles sold in the U.S. will have to average 54.5 mpg of gasoline. In order to make this happen, most vehicles will have to have a stop-start device that shuts the engine off at stops and turns it back on when the brake is let go. This technology already exists in Europe, and in some hybrid vehicles in the U.S. However, it will have to be in all vehicles to get that kind of fuel efficiency.

These 5 features that could be on your future car are great resources to have for your driving experience. Not only will this make driving safer, it will also make riding in the vehicle more enjoyable. However, Ford currently has numerous features already installed in its vehicles that make the ride a great one. If you'd like to check out what Ford has to offer for you and your vehicle, stop by our Wixom Area Ford Dealership and let us help you into a New Ford Truck or one of our Ford Cars For Sale.

9 Fun Facts About Fourth of July

9 Fun Facts About Fourth of July

BRIGHTON, Mich. - The Fourth of July is an important day in American history, as it represents the day that Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence in 1776. This document declared independence from Great Britain and, essentially, was the birth of our country. So to celebrate this great day, let's take a look at 9 fun facts about the Fourth of July:

1. The Fourth of July was not actually considered a holiday until 1941.

2. Benjamin Franklin originally suggested that our national bird be a turkey, but was overruled. With turkey being the star of Thanksgiving, we can't imagine it would go over too well to cook our national bird every year.

3. Around 150 million hot dogs are believed to be consumed on this day.

4. The Declaration of Independence was signed by 56 men from 13 colonies.

5. In 1776, around 2.5 million people were living in United States - today, there are over 311 million.

6. The "Star Spangled Banner" was actually a poem written by Francis Scott Key. It was later put to music but wasn't the official national anthem until 1931.

7. The sale of fireworks has increased by 700 percent over the last 35 years, but injuries are down by 90 percent.

8. The 2nd of July is the day that Congress voted for independence - making it the real Independence Day. However, they didn't complete the written document until the 4th. The Fourth of July was printed at the top of the document and was widely circulated, making everyone believe that the 4th is the actual day of Independence.

9. John Hancock wrote his name twice the size of any of the other signers and also added a flourish. It's said that he did this so that King George III would be able to read his signature without glasses.

As you celebrate this momentous moment in our country's history, we hope you take a moment to enjoy these 9 fun facts about Fourth of July with your friends and family. We have a truly beautiful and rich history - one that is great to share!
